Always loved threats that start with an affectionate opening.
Ironic that back when he was cast, a lot of people did not want him as Bond and asked for Brosnan's return.
Well, nothing stops those people from also stealing nuclear bombs.
That's taking trolling to the extreme.
Thanks for that, I enjoyed it.
edit.
I'd have loved to have been there at the meeting with the execs.
"We're going to kill him off"
"What?"
"Yea, it'll be great. Daniel wants to do it"
"So no more Bond films?"
"No, we'll carry on"
"Ah, so he's not really dead?"
"No, he's dead, but it's just one version of him that's dead"
"Eh?"
"No, don't worry, it'll be fine. It's a thing they do now"
"So is James Bond dead or not?"
"Stop asking silly questions, people don't care anymore. He dies in this one, but he'll be back for the next one"
"You can say he escaped. . "
"No, we don't have to do that anymore, people don't give a shit. What's wrong with you, don't you understand the magical nature of a timeline?"
"Isn't that just for sci-fi though?"
"Jesus, are you thick or something? It's a REEEEBOOOOOOOT!!"
But I do think we're going to be going over the same ground here, so for the sake of variety, I'll shut my trap about it on this thread from here on in. I'll keep my naïve incredulity for the wonderfully titled 'Why NTTD Should Have Been Made But Not Quite The Way it Was Made, Innit' thread.
Okay, but you would have had to anyway: the next guy's story will clearly not follow on from this one.
Anyway, regarding the subject of the thread, it's nice to see Broccoli & Wilson say they're unlikely to go down the period setting route for the movies:

Um, we've been in an alternate Bond universe since 2006.
I also think the entirety of Octopussy and the Living Daylights could make a effective stage play.
Wait. What? You mean Blofeld wouldn’t be allowed to post on here?
Not very inclusive
Unless future Bond films are planning to feature a retired Bond, then presumably they will be going back in Bond’s timeline. To when he wasn’t retired, and wasn’t dead.
Could also say unless future films are planning to feature a Zombie Bond ...
Very good point. I think audiences are smarter than most people think and get that this is all made up. Or rather: they don’t care that much. Is Roger’s Bond the same man as Sean’s Bond? It doesn’t matter.
I guess they'd thought Bond is a codename. In fact I'm sure tye codename theory is going to make a comeback in the media.
Or that Craig's Bond in CR isn't the same Bond that just ice surfed a glacier in the previous films. People are aware of continuity and reboots.
