As for Austin Powers, the first one is perfect. The music, Liz Hurley, the dialogue, the sets, the plot, everything.
I've never seen an Austin Powers film, and don't intend to. I do agree that Liz Hurley is as close to perfection as is humanly possible, and it's a damn crime that she wasn't cast in a Bond film in the 90's. She could have played nicely off Brosnan and arguably should have been in TND to succeed the brilliant Scorupco & Janssen rather than useless Hatcher and Yeoh.

Well if Craig does return, they might as well get her too! MILF's are all the fashion these days and she's still steamingly hot.

I don t find silly glasses, big teeth and funny voices to be fun at all.

I think I've got a very juvenile sense of humour sometimes. I've laughed quite hard at this scene before:

@bondjames. This scene will probably give you an idea of the first Austin Powers (and you can ogle at Liz Hurley*).

    * Just remembered, she did host a Bond documentary around the time of GE.

@BAIN123, thanks for posting that clip. I have to say that Austin maintained his composure much better than I would have when she walked in the door! I've got to watch this. She's the best thing about Passenger 57 (a sentimental favourite of mine).

@CommanderRoss, much as I'd like to see a more seasoned Hurley in the next Bond film, I'm afraid that might be taking things just a little too far in the Austin homage dept, after Brothergate.

Absolutely. But at least we got her in the incredible "I give you Bond, James Bond" GoldenEye one hour long documentary where she shines in every hot damn second on screen and the clothes she wears...and how she moves down those stairs...and...huhhh.....

Passenger 57 is one of so-stupid-its hilarious films. Liz Hurley is certainly something in that film. Is it me or does Charles Rane remind anyone of Alec Trevelyan coming onto Natalya:

I agree @BAIN123. There is indeed a cheesy 'B' movie sliminess to the Trevelyan/Natalya interactions and Passenger 57 is full of that. "Always bet on black!"

@Bondjames no doubt you'd react like Johnny English in the clip above, I know I would ;-) . Love English by the way. Somewhere inbetween Bean (which i don't like) and Blackadder (pure genius).

Oh, I forgot to vote. Honestly, I just can't picture anyone else except Brosnan in this.

Both legendary no doubt, but pale imitations of the original and arguably the best. Diana Rigg.

If you so wish. The conversation suggests it. Yet another tie this time, between PB and DC. No one votes for Lazenby.

    So...

Once again, for the fourth time in succession, I must vote for Brosnan. There is no one else who I can imagine or want in this 40th anniversary humiliation.

Depends on your perspective. To me, it wasn't a humiliation, so I'll go with Brosnan.

Of that era I'd always pick Julie Andrews or Diana Rigg :)

It just happened that I watched DAD earlier today.

The first circa 70 minutes until the film travels to Iceland are simply perfect.

    Sean Connery is the man.

Low interest in this one. Brosnan gets to keep it. which is only right. The worst Bond film goes to the worst Bond. Dalton and Craig are unacceptable in this film.

Something more interesting coming up now.

Which Bond would you rather see in CASINO ROYALE?
