Leiter torture. Although it's nice to see the uncut version, I must admit I prefer the 1989 U.S.PG-13 edit. For the life of me I can't remember what shot was in place of the stump shot, though. I should track down an old DVD or VHS copy.

It would be a crime and a break of tradition to watch LTK and not mention Tim's hair: longer in the Della/Felix discovery, then shorter in the hospital scene.

I went for the Timmy D look when I was in high school actually. If I cut it myself it looked like LTK, however, when I went to a barber, it looked more like TLD.
Actually, it was long enough to be Pierce's GE length.

    Hemingway House scene:

This one does flow- now Krest is leering at Lupe as she watches RED RIVER re-scored.

Underwater bit- perfect length for this kind of sequence as it doesn't slow down the pace. The water ski moment caused a huge cheer in the cinema each time I saw it.

As Bond exits the Barrelhead Bar- the building in the background is decorated with Christmas lights.
I wonder if this is one of the last things filmed? LTK's production ran from July-Nov 1988 I believe.

    Casino sequence-
I always liked Sanchez' silver striped dress shirt. He forgoes a classic dinner suit, is somewhat dressed down but still flashy. Today the stripes might be a bit overkill, but I find it far more interesting than say, a boring suit that appears to be two sizes too small.

Tim's baggy dinner suit never really bothered me, though his TLD tuxedos did have a better cut.

Don Stroud has a great cheesy smile as they lead Sanchez' potential partners into the other room greeted by the ladies.

Krest death scene. Another sequence I think is more powerful in the slightly trimmed U.S. 1989 edit.

Now you've got me curious about looking at that US edit.

The scene cuts to Perez' reaction shot just as Krest's head explodes. So you don't see the actual splat. Timed impeccably, really. Dario's death is slightly shorter as is Sanchez's.

Wayne Newton- he was pretty huge back in the day and his appearance caused a chuckle in the audience. I wonder what today's celebrity equivalent would be?

Tanker chase!! A great chase sequence that doesn't take itself too seriously and is old school reminiscent of the classic 1940's serial cliffhangers.
I still feel all the post LTK climactic sequences have been lacking by comparison.

Well another great viewing of LTK. Although it seemed rather quiet in these parts tonight, I enjoyed posting about it immensely.

LTK is a Bond film that each time I watch it, it really does take me back to the wonderful coming of age summer of '89, and the school years that followed. I remember joining both The James Bond 007 Fan Club and The James Bond British Fan Club, thrilled with each new issue of Bondage and 007 Magazine. Reading reviews of LTK and awaiting news of BOND 17.
Everyone else my age was either into Lethal Weapon 2 or Batman and understandably so. Few understood my love and appreciation for the 2nd Dalton Bond outing, yet I consistently saw the film over and over again during it's run.
In addition, the period of LTK's release also marked another milestone in my Bond fandom: I completed my first VHS collection of the Bond series that summer (the official Bonds that is) with a copy of TMWTGG. I'd have to wait until January of 1990 before LTK would see a release, and yes, I saved up the $89.99 to buy it the day it was out.
I had to order it weeks ahead of time, and the video store clerk really did seem baffled I wanted it so bad. Still that tape gave me hours of entertainment. One thing about the Dalton Bonds, they are amazingly re-watchable.

One of the best of the series. Even the flaws like the TV feel I love.

I'd imagine, given the production qualities and overall feel of the film, that it's one which probably benefits from being seen on the small screen, as opposed to how it must have come across in theatres.

I really enjoy it as well, although I'll admit I wasn't a fan of it when younger. Nowadays I actually much prefer it to TLD.

That's exactly where I have it as well,at #9 ,but it can rise to 7th on occasion and lowest was 11th I think, but never lower.

I find it more watchable repeatedly than most of the films that came after.

Been awhile since I watched some of his, actually. I may give TND a spin again soon as this year is the 20th anniversary. Come to think of it, I haven't watched TWINE in quite a while.

Looks like you might be needing a Brosnan Bondathon soon methinks ;)

Indeed. I should upgrade my copy of GE since I only have the badly framed 2006 UE DVD.

Davi is great in LTK. Alongside Walken my two favourite Bond villain of the 80s. You're right about the bar scene - super rough watch that one. Lowell's scenes get a little better as it goes on but her first two major scenes - this and the boat seduction scene following it - are clunkers.

Davi made a great villain IMO.
