NSNA contains one of the better 007 car chases, I only wish John Barry had scored it.

I really want to see a Bond bike (as in one given to him by Q, not just one he's nicked) in an EON movie. A Bonneville would be perfect for him and I bet Triumph would be more than willing to do a bespoke model like Aston Martin did with the DB10.

Time for Silva’s introduction. Such a great Bond villain; my favorite of the Craig era.

He is great isn't he. Up there with Sanchez, Goldfinger and Elektra as one of my favourites. It's weird because when it first came out he was one of the things everybody was raving about but he seems a bit under appreciated now.

    This works quite well

Not bad at all. I love that chase, actually. But with an appropriate score it works beautifully.

SF > SP in almost every way.

Bond performance, villain, title song, PTS (debatable but I will give SF the edge for now), music, cinematography, story, etc. I would probably say SP just wins for Bond girls, due to it being so minor in SF. SP just can’t stack up to SF.

Still, sadly, we will never know what an original Barry score written specifically for that picture would have been like.
We can speculate, though. It probably would've been not unlike Barry's symphonic Bond scores of the eighties. And he likely would've come up with a brassy, energetic main theme to replace the Bond theme.

“Some men are coming to kill us. We’re going to kill them first.”

Great line. Had to take a couple pauses in the watch unfortunately. Still, it’s gone great as usual.

I absolutely love the climax of SF. I will stand against the haters any time on that one. Explosive and epic.

“I did get one thing right...”

This always gets me. M was so flawed but obviously cared, and that line to Bond was perfect.

Office scene and gunbarrel. Great stuff. SF has never disappointed me.

I don't mind NSNA on Bluray it's hit and miss, though when it's good the film looks great, the score is very dated unfortunately not great.

It depends which Blu-Ray you buy. The first one I owned looked dreary and awful. My present copy, the Special Edition co-packaged with a DVD, looks crystal clear; a beautiful print.

I have the special edition also, it's good though I found a noticeable difference in some cinematography. The picture looks fantastic then has dull moments, probably the second unit scenes.

Was NSNA re-mastered after that first Blu-ray release? I remember getting the DVD from 2009 that had the various documentaries and feeling the transfer looked de-saturated and dull. I imagine the Blu-ray to be used from the same transfer. The original DVD had a brighter picture and better colors.

It wasn't remastered. However I can vouch for that blu ray/dvd combo as being reasonably impressive, although not quite to the levels of the Lowry enhanced EON entries. It's 1080p with AVC Mpeg-4 encoding at least (I'm not sure if the first release was).

The Blu-ray now seems fairly pricey. I have 3 DVDs so I may just stick with those for the time being. I somehow doubt, now that EON owns the film, we'll get another release any time soon.

Definitely on the lower end of Binder's output, yet a few steps up from the two preceding and the two that he did after.

I don t know about that. For me, it s the worst of them all.

The Bullet hole in the window is so iconic when Tracy dies, SP using that image is manipulating the Bond community

Saul Bass did incredible work with Hitchcock, I have the majority of Hitchcock films he certainly paved the way for Dr. No. I truly believe the starting point of modern cinema is Connerys introduction as Bond, that moment altered the landscape of cinema forever.

Great notes. So cool how Bond was introduced in the casino...fitting also going back to the first page of the book Casino Royale...the casino identifying Bond with leisure, pleasure, gambling, the odds, mental calculation, money...and the prospect of sex.
