Movie titles in foreign markets

I looked and I looked, but I couldn't find an existing thread, even if I have an itch there once was thread for this. So please forgive me if I generate a double.

So, I was wondering how have they translated the names of the movies in your native country.

I start and I only mention those that have been translated to something original. All Craig film have so far retained their original english names. Even Quantum of Solace was not translated in my native language.

From Russia with Love - 007 in Istanbul
Thunderball - 007 Ball Lightning
Live and Let Die - Live and Let Others Die
Man With the Golden Gun - 007 Golden gun
The Spy Who Loved Me - 007 , My Beloved
Moonraker - 007 Moonrocket
For Your Eyes Only - 007 Top Secret
Octopussy - 007 Octopus
A View to a Kill - Look of Death
The Living Daylights - 00 in the Danger Zone (insert the song from Top Gun *here*
The World is Not Enough - When the World is Not Enough
Die Another Day - Death Can Wait

Korean is an easy language to learn to read phonetically, a truly logical and scientifically designed alphabet/characters. I lived and worked in Korea several times over the years, learned it early on and it's been useful for business, travel.

Here are a couple more, more phonetics though.

1967 Casino Royale (released Dec 1971) - 007 카지노 로얄
    - 007 Casino Royale (kah-gee-no low-yal)

1983 Never Say Never Again - 007 내버 새이 내버 어개인
    - Never Say Never Again (nay-buh say-ee nay-buh uh-gay-in)

So let's try Japanese. I should explain my understanding, and some true (cunning, even) linguist can add to or correct my statements. I lived for five years in Japan, but I'm much more familiar with Korea and Korean.

Japanese (like Korean) is a monosyllabic language, while the Kanji alphabet characters are much more complicated--notice they were not able to represent them in a similar font style for the No Time To Die poster (shown below), as done for Korean (previous post). Still, Kanji can phonetically represent the sounds as Romanized/English equivalents. In practice, Japanese may add syllables to represent English pronunciation that is a single syllable usually related to a consonant.

For example, Doctor becomes ドクタ, Do-ku-ta. Gold becomes ゴールド, Gō-ru-do. Diamond is ダイヤモン, Da-i-ya-mon.

So you see with some exceptions, the Japanese titles are mostly phonetic recreations of English.

007 ドクター・ノオ (Dokutā nō, Doctor No) Dr. No 1962
007 ロシアより愛をこめて (Roshiayoriaiwokomete, With Love From Russia) From Russia with Love 1963
007 ゴールドフィンガー (Gōrudofingā, Gold Finger) Goldfinger 1964
007 サンダーボール作戦 (Sandābōru sakusen, Thunderball Strategy) Thunderball 1965
007 は二度死ぬ (Wa ni-do shinu, Will Die Twice) You Only Live Twice 1967
女王陛下の 007 (Joōheika no, Her Majesty's) On Her Majesty's Secret Service 1969
007 ダイヤモンドは永遠に (Daiyamondo wa eien ni, Diamond Forever) Diamonds Are Forever 1971

007 死ぬのは奴らだ (Shinu no wa yatsurada, It's Those Who Die) Live and Let Die 1973
007 黄金銃を持つ男 (Ōgonjūwomotsuotoko, Man With Golden Gun) The Man with the Golden Gun 1974
007 私を愛したスパイ (Watashiwoaishitasupai, A Spy Who Loved Me) The Spy Who Loved Me 1977
007 ムーンレイカー (Mūnreikā, Moon Laker) Moonraker 1979
007 ユア・アイズ・オンリー (Yua aizu onrī, Your Eyes Only) For Your Eyes Only 1981
007 オクトパシー (Okutopashī, Octo Pathy) Octopussy 1983
007 美しき獲物たち (Utsukushikiemonotachi, Beautiful Prey) A View To A Kill 1985

007 リビング・デイライツ (Ribingu deiraitsu, Living Day Lights) The Living Daylights 1987
007 消されたライセンス (Kesa reta raisensu, Licence Expired) Licence To Kill 1989

    007 ゴールデンアイ (Gōruden'ai, Golden Eye) GoldenEye 1995
007 トゥモロー・ネバー・ダイ (To~umorō nebā dai, Tomorrow Never Die) Tomorrow Never Dies 1997
007 ワールド・イズ・ノット・イナフ (Wārudo Izu notto inafu, World Is Not Enough) The World Is Not Enough 1999
007 ダイ・アナザー・デイ (Dai anazā Dei, Die Another Day) Die Another Day 2002

007 カジノ・ロワイヤル (Kajino rowaiyaru, Casino Royale) Casino Royale 2006
007 慰めの報酬 (Nagusamenohōshū, Comfort Reward) Quantum of Solace 2008
007 スカイフォール (Sukaifōru, Sky Fall) Skyfall 2012
007 スペクター (Supekutā, Specter) Spectre 2015
007 ノー・タイム・トゥ・ダイ (Nō taimu to~u dai, No Time To Die) No Time To Die 2020

Those phonetic approximations of the original titles are hilarious, but one should keep in mind that the very same thing is often done the other way around, too. Probably just as hilarious.

@QBranch, @linglingqi shared these explanations on the No Time To Die - Foreign Translations discussion.

    https://www.mi6community.com/discussion/19366/no-time-to-die-foreign-translations#latest
    linglingqi wrote: »
Just ran another search and it seems that 《无暇赴死》 is being widely used for the Chinese title, which is not bad and more or less also translates directly to "no time to die".
    linglingqi wrote: »
The titles《生死交戰》and《生死有時》are both rendered in Traditional Chinese characters. The former is the title used in Taiwan, translating to "war between life and death," and the latter is the Hong Kong title, which is somewhat intriguing: "time for life and death."
生死交戰 (Shēngsǐ jiāozhàn, War between life and death), Taiwan.
无暇赴死 (Wúxiá fù sǐ, No Time To Die), China.
生死有時 (Shēngsǐ yǒu shí, Time for life and death), Hong Kong China.

Not sure if that answers your question. Here are the individual characters translated.

    无 (No) 暇 (Free Time) 赴 (Go) 死 (Dead)
