He's probably scared of all of those miners he massacred coming after him. ;)

That's good. Just testing. :)
Oh to live in 1989...when all we had to worry about was ghosts...
I love vintage documentaries from the UK no matter the topic. Curious use of Howard Blake's Christmas classic "Walking in the Air" at 28:19 though.
Yes, I started primary school in January 1989. I suppose as well as ghosts we had to worry about the small matter of the Cold War and nuclear conflagration back then too. Different times and different worries. I'm sure that it didn't exercise the mind of a 4 year old boy too much of course though I do remember the coverage of the Berlin Wall coming down later that year when I'd turned 5. I'm sure I was bemused by it all but I distinctly remember the news pictures on the TV screen. It was the big story of that time.
I remember seeing Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2. I’m pretty sure the world was mainly worried about ghosts.
No doubt about it then. However, it could be said that their fears went unrealised and were somewhat misdirected given what else was going on in the world at that time. A case of bread and circuses perhaps?
Were you not there?! :))
I think he was being dramatic there, Shakespearean even. We can allow him that much on a thread about ghosts. ;)
Lol, I should have said again. But at that age, I was more concerned about ghosts than Russia.
I'm not sure about bread, but circuses are plenty scary too. ;)
True, though I've never been to one. Only (appropriately for this thread) in spirit by watching Octopussy. For more on the subject, see my 2016 Killer Clowns thread! 🤡

Same here. As a fan of old gothic horror and of spooky folklore, I wish I did though.
Anecdote, I've been to Berry Pomeroy Castle, allegedly England's most haunted castle. According to one of the local books I bought, it has "an aura of malevolence ". Never felt it. It was a pleasant medieval castle on a lovely day.
It doesn't work if you're a sceptic. ;)
On a side note, a few years ago my wife once had a sort of experience that looked like a ghostly encounter of sorts. She's still a sceptic and still would not conclude that the experience was supernatural in nature.
I was jesting and of course you're right. Ghosts either exist or they don't.
If you feel comfortable sharing your wife's experience here in this thread we'd be glad to hear it.
Our eyes are very very easy to trick as anyone who has stated at a lightbulb for 20
Second s will know. When you then look away there is no green/magenta floating orb it’s just the way your retina works.
We have a tendency to fill in gaps with the outlandish. And of course fear affects our perception and interpretation of events.
In short no I don’t believe in ghosts. That’s not to say I don’t get the chills every now and then in the dark.
I certainly will. Need to ask her first about the details to refresh my memory (and hers), it arrived about a decade ago so it's not very fresh.
But after that yeah, I was thinking in part Spirit in the Sky. Going to the place that's the best.
I understand, @Ludovico. Well, we'll certainly be interested in hearing it once you have it recalled to mind.
No, there's no Spooks here. Just spooks.
Oh, and here's that song too:
I'll spare us all the Gareth Gates version...
Now it's important to stress something: my wife is not certain she heard this and does not conclude that she heard a ghost or that the sound was of a supernatural nature. Also, and maybe more importantly, it happened in September. That may sound trivial, but from August until Halloween I read horror and ghost stories almost exclusively, particularly classic ghost stories, and it's a recurring topic in my conversations with the people who know me. So it is very possible that this played a role in her experience, and that it acted as a sort of confirmation bias. I will also add that we came back to this pub numerous times and nothing happened again.
Believe in the rights of those who do believe.
I believe you :)>-
Yes, under the Ghost Believers' Rights Act 1998. ;)
That's a very important, well needed Act, indeed :)>-
as long as Believers don't Act on their Beliefs
because that wouldn't be Right, or so I Believe. ;-)
" Hasn't a ghost of a chance " . This is offensive to the ghost community not
to mention the sexist terms like " Ghoulies " and " giving each other the Willies "
This is 2021 People, we can do better than this. Time for a lot more Respect
for the Ghost communities. If I ever return as a spirit, I'll be expecting Better.
You're absolutely correct. "Ghost Protocol"? This is me making a fist as I declare that I shall petition to have that film abolished and all copies of it destroyed! X(
;-)
