Loved your post.. Maybe I can do a date. I'd have to figure out what to write about first though. Meanwhile I just started my own advent calendar with watching Dr. No, and I'm gonna watch all the 24 Bond movies til Christmas eve

@Gumbold, good luck with that, chap. I just pilfered all your Blu-rays of the Bond films from your safe, but I did leave your Playboy, so at least you have some entertainment to enjoy for the holidays in absence of them.

In honor of the season, here is one of my favorite teaser trailers- this one for DAF.

    https://youtu.be/31sxWkpcUzM

I always loved the fact Binder recreates the gunbarrel here, and it certainly looks like DAF era Connery walking, tossing the presents and firing. Very cool. I can only imagine how exciting this would have been in 1971 to see this and the return of Connery in the role.
I can remember Christmastime 1985 as I was really getting into Bond and it's history, my folks had gotten our first VHS player early in November and the next day bought a used copy of Octopussy, which I would watch almost daily.
In addition, Friday nights we would rent the other Bonds, as I had only seen many of them on the "ABC Sunday Night at The Movies" airings. One day, a snow day it was, school let out early and I'd have a three day weekend. Well when I got home, my mom had rented DAF, and I vividly remember watching twice in a row. Then a few weeks later it would be the first Bond I'd record on VHS from one of those butchered airings. What was so cool about that airing was the addition of the original screen UA logo.
That Christmas I was reading and re-reading Raymond Benson's James Bond Bedside Companion, and I particularly loved this illustration of Bond.

    James+Bond+Portrait.jpg

George Almond's illustration of the Fleming Bond description. I showed this pic to my mom and she responded "That's Roger Moore down to a tee!"
Christmas 1985 was very much a Bond Christmas for me, though my school only had given us a week off due to a teacher's strike. That year I also received John Brosnan's James Bond in The Cinema to go along with my Benson Bond bible.

Wish I still had at least one copy of that book, I gave my original to a friend, and don't remember what I did with the updated edition. I'd love Benson to come back and do an update that includes the past 30 years!

Hi, just checking in - I am written incorrectly for the 3rd. I can NOT do anything on the 3rd. I am swamped with my school's Music Festival. My day off is Sunday, the 4th - that is the day I requested. Thanks. :)

So @Murdock, you and I can do something on the 4th. I have to figure out how I can post something anyway since I refuse to join any photobucket type site. Hmmm. And I'll do the 11th. Thank you all. Cheers! It's December!!! Makes me happy. :-bd

@BondJasonBond006 - great start to the advent calendar. Interestingly I had a similar experience - I was 12 when I saw TLD - my first bond film in the cinema and it was magnificent. Dalton will always be my Bond too.

Great to see other 40 somethings :-bd @Major_Boothroyd @ToTheRight @ggl007

It soon will be time for the 3rd window to open in this Advent Calendar. I can do it, but if anything would be interested in taking this day over just say so. I'll wait for a while.

In the meantime, I find this picture highly fascinating! @ToTheRight
To my shame I have never heard of that book. I guess I will search for it, will be out of print probably?

Raymond Benson's James Bond Bedside Companion, and I particularly loved this illustration of Bond.

@Thunderfinger thanks for that link, a great Advent Calendar gift!

Just revived that thread with this:

There once was a guy, he was short
Michael said, that's not the kind of sort
Barbara meant, don't care, he's hot
Michael replied, his blonde hair is not!
Babs insisted, it doesn't matter for the plot
And look at that perfectly rounded rear!
Michael rolled his eyes, oh Dear, oh Dear
Then Casino Royale opened to great success
But before Craigisnotbond.com made a mess
Today people wonder why did everybody cry
Everything went fine, Babs still has the say
Next up we'll get Jamie Bell
Even shorter and blonder bloody hell!
