@doubleoego we have the same 3 films on top, only I would rank Winter Soldier in 1st place. Apart from that, I'd put Ant-Man, the first Guardians, Dr Strange and Thor Ragnarok higher than you did.

I suspect my rankings may change somewhat by the time spider-man homecoming 2 comes out next year but I'm just glad these films in general are good. It's a great time for fans.

Ant-Man 2 looks like an absolute blast and an opening day viewing for me. This summer is looking very good, Mission Impossible 6 & Equalizer 2 are going to be splendid additions to the filmographies of Tom Cruise and Denzel Washington, and The Meg with Jason Statham / Skyscraper with Dwayne Johnson look insanely entertaining too.

I've only seen First Avenger once in the theatre and didn't think too highly of it. I purchased the blu ray ages ago but have never gotten round to a second viewing. I should check it out again and see if my opinion has changed, given that I am a big fan of the 2nd and 3rd Cap films.

I was reminded of the film somewhat when I saw Wonder Woman last year. They both have obvious WW2 and origin vibes.

I am postponing it as well, maybe next weekend.

I think my interest in comic book/graphic novel adapted movies has wained, there are too many of them and mediocre for the most part. Though I hear Josh Brolin is brilliant as Thanos so that's the main reason I'll watch Infinity War.
Just my personal opinion after seeing the film: Josh Brolin absolutely nails it, but the animation destroys it.

@bondsum, just to clarify, I was referring to QoS in my post above and not OHMSS. I saw similarities between Craig's second entry and IW in terms of the very action driven narrative without a lot of clarifying background for those who haven't followed the entire universe (similar to how QoS could seem a tad disjointed unless viewed as a CR sequel). Oh, and I quite agree with you that IW can only be properly judged once its sequel is out next year to complete the story.
You haven't seen a Guardians movie? Personally, they're my absolute favourites. I'm not sure if they'll be your thing, though. Let me know if you like them. Thing is I don't take any of these Marvel movies seriously. They're mostly just exceptionally good eye-candy with some very funny jokes thrown in. If I'm looking for real depth then I won't be searching for it from a superhero movie.

I hear you and concur. I'm not one for depth in these films either. I really enjoyed Ragnarok and that one was played for laughs, so I might actually enjoy the Guardian films. I'll check them out shortly and will let you know my thoughts.

Saw IW last night and really enjoyed it. It had much higher stakes than you typical MCU film and it was certainly more emotional. It still managed to be funny though. The film had a different structure than your usual MCU film too which is a nice break from the typical “Marvel formula”. It was also really great seeing some of these characters interact for the first time.

With that said, I left the theater feeling kind of unfulfilled and even a bit disappointed, though I can’t really put my finger on why. Judging by some other reviews though, I’m not the only one.

    IW

    Pure insanity that film is.
There was no stand out sequence unfortunately but the tension was so high that I was locked in every second. Lots of laughs too. High emotions and drama. Though it is half a film, and not really an avengers film at that, more of a Thanos film really.

This one is up there for me, top three perhaps but it’ll take a few more viewings because it’s a lot to take in.

Avengers: Infinity War has broken Star Wars: The Force Awakens' record for biggest opening domestic weekend of all time, becoming the first film ever to earn $250 million in its 1st weekend.

It has also broken the world-wide opening weekend record of $540 million set by Fate of the Furious last year, becoming the first film ever to earn at least $600 million in its first weekend ($630 million, to be exact).

Saw it today. Really enjoyed it. The stakes have been raised significantly, and one can't help but wonder how the situation will be resolved (if it can be), and what part the character mentioned at the very end will play in the second part. Definitely worth buying in Blu-Ray, or 4K for those who can afford it. BTW,
Glad to see a character who I thought was dead since, oh a very long time ago, make an appearance. Didn't expect that one.

And is it me, or has Peter Dinklage grown up since I last saw him ? Oh, come on, everybody was thinking it, right ?

IW breaking and setting records...$630M opening weekend WW! It's already smashed Justice League's domestic run and needs $27M to beat it's entire WW theatrical run. IW is getting to $1 billion by Tuesday-Wednesday Ha ha! This hasn't even opened in China or Russia yet.

Kevin "The King" Feige is a one of a kind producer who knows how to cultivate results and success and his trick is so obvious and basic but for some reason other "producers" seem incapable of applying the same/respective approach.

Avengers 4 is going to be an absolute BEAST and Captain Marvel which comes out a few months before will make $Billion easily.
  • In addition to Avengers: Infinity War having that opening $250M opening weekend in the US., Black Panther (released in February) was No. 5 at $4.38 million.

That is an insightful comment, and perhaps this is where I was partially let down due to expectations. I'll go one further and say it's more of a Guardians and Thanos film actually. I shall approach it a bit differently on my 2nd viewing in the next couple of weeks and see how it sits.

You people should really try and get your hands on a copy of Infinity Gauntlet. This is definitely a Thanos movie. What the Russos have done with this film and the madness that will be Avengers 4 is nothing short of remarkable. Yeah yeah yeah, this film's not perfect and there are a number of issues I myself have with this film BUT overall, what was achieved with all these characters and a thread that has followed through since the first Iron Man and mainly since the first Avengers, this is a monumental achievement.

Seeing Red Skull was a really cool surprise. I hope we get to see more of him going forward.

As for Captain Marvel's reveal at the very end, Carol is going to kick all kinds of ass.
Think Goku in his ulra instinct form x 10.

Yep! It's weekly and daily drops since it's release have been miniscule at best, having one of the best holds if not the best hold for any movie. It's about to reach $700M domestically any day now.

In my opinion, civil war was more of an avengers film than infinity war is.

    Something just hit me
If it was just random chance, was there a possibility that Thanos could have died and if so, was it just chance that he didn’t.

Also, after a lot of thought this is how my Ranking stands

I really don’t know how to even compare the likes of iron man and infinity war

    1. Iron man
    2. Infinity war
    3. Captain America civil war
    4. Spider man homecoming
    5. Captain America The winter solider
    6. The avengers
    7. Iron man 2
    8. Captain America first avenger
    9. Age of ultron
    10. Iron man 3
    11. Black panther
    12. Thor ragnarok
    13. Doctor Strange
    14. Thor
    15. Guardians vol 2
    16. Hulk
    17. Guardians of the galaxy
    18. Ant man
    19. Thor 2

Saw it tonight. Really enjoyed it, very clever to fit so much in and it all somehow worked, loved the ending plus some great dialogue. Something that gets overlooked is the quality of the acting. It takes talent to deliver one liners with the right tone and timing. Almost all of them came off perfectly IMHO

I'm not sure I could do an accurate ranking, considering that I never saw THOR: THE DARK WORLD and I only vaguely remember THE INCREDIBLE HULK and the first GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY.

If pressed, I would put THE WINTER SOLDIER, IRON MAN, IRON MAN 3 (a wickedly funny work by Shane Black, one of my favorite writers), and CIVIL WAR at the top of the list, with an honorable mention to BLACK PANTHER and ANT-MAN.

Very true. The acting in these films is really very good across the board, and this last outing is no exception. This group are all top notch, and I hope they all have an opportunity to use their experience in the MCU to propel themselves to better things in the future. They all deserve it.
