Jake Gyllenhaal was considered for Superman in MAN OF STEEL.
That, I can also believe. He could be a good Superman, perhaps. But, not Batman.

Batman needs a man of stature. A complete full-on alpha male who's intimidating and menacing. Gyllenhaal is just not that.

    Bale was the closest.

    Bale's casting wasn't bad.

Then again, aside from Affleck (and that after seeing him in BvS), I really don't see any live-action Batman to be on par with the image of the character I have in mind from the comics. Kevin Conroy's voice and Bruce Timm's design of the character make the best interpretation of Batman in the motion picture media, and unfortunately that is not live action.

Doctor Strange 2 has been officially confirmed as part of the 'Phase 4' of the MCU by Kevin Feige.

    Great!

I wonder how are they going to reveal the whole entity of Phase Four, like they did with Phase Three some four years ago.

@ClarkDevlin based on all solo characters getting trilogies, and given we already know of Doctor Strange 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy 3, I think we can safely say Black Panther 2, Ant-Man 3, Black Widow, Captain Marvel 2 and Avengers 5 are all going to be in Phase 4.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I don't think IW will catch TFA's total gross. It came in quite a bit lower for a 2nd weekend stateside, and I am forecasting about $700M to $750M domestic by the end of its run. If I'm right, it will need about $1.3bn foreign in order to surpass TFA's $2.1bn overall total, and I'm not sure if it can do that much. Keep in mind that this is before any inflation adjustments.

Nevertheless, IW is a beast at the box office.
So after a couple of months this is where we are with IW:

    domestic - $0.67BN
    foreign - $1.36BN
    total - $2.03BN

I underestimated the power of the global box office, where IW's performance has been rather phenomenal (BP did $0.67BN for comparison) . I also appear to have overestimated its domestic power, where it has arguably underperformed (it's tracking behind Black Panther stateside at present).

Goes to show two things imho: 1. the strength of a phenomenon (which BP was) and 2. the increasing power of global box office.

SW-TFA is at $2.1BN, so IW needs another $70M or thereabouts to eclipse it. So near, and yet so far.

I don't see IW beating SW:TFA ...but Avengers 4 otoh is likely to be the one to do it.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse adds Nicolas Cage as the voice actor for one of the various incarnations of Spider-Man in this animated film. It is the 2nd super-hero that Cage will voice this year, as he will also be Superman in the upcoming Teen Titans Go! film.

Cage should play an adult Siperman.

Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (and the upcoming 3rd Guardians of the Galaxy film) director James Gunn fired from Disney with immediate effect:

Well that sucks for him considering Disney is a massive powerhouse in Hollywood these days. Guess that spells the end of his career.

From what I caught in a glimpse, a bunch of pedophilia/rape jokes. He apparently deleted over 10,000 tweets.

How can you tweet so much? And why don´t they fire Trump?

Anyhow, is this a new wave of communist hunt?

The kicker is he already apologized for them six years ago. So Disney somehow overlooked the tweets, overlooked his apology, and fired him six years later for it. Bad break but that's how it goes when you're in the Hollywood spotlight, gotta be careful.

Except if I´m not mistaken one cannot be judged or sentenced for a crime one hasn´t done yet. It certainly is very dumb to make certain kinds of jokes, and I personally am not much of a fan of Gunn´s humor anyway, but still, if someone´s career is destroyed by remarks he made when he wasn´t in the spotlight yet at all, that´s pretty oppressive.

I’ve just read a lot of the tweets in question. He certainly had a weird rape and little kid fixation.
