Eternals is now the lowest rated film of the MCU according to rotten tomatoes.

Even the shill critics have had enough of all the woke crap that has been plaguing the MCU.

Considering almost all the reviews I've read don't even mention any "wokeness", and merely talk about the film's length and tired plot, maybe get your head out of your sore shouting points and let people who will enjoy them do so.

I love it when people make childish insults at people when they disagree with their viewpoints.Shows them up for what they are 😅

“Woke” is short term for “politically correct”. That’s all.

If seeing gays/POC in film is enough to upset you, then you should probably just give up on movies altogether.

I didn’t watch Black Widow because Scarlett Johannson said in an interview that she finds it offensive that men find her character sexually attractive.Last thing I wanted to do was offend her so I didn’t go watch it.

When did I say seeing gays and POC in a film was upsetting? Please show me the exact quote.

Diversity and inclusion is not a bad thing. The thing is there’s been diversity and inclusion in film for many decades. The woke media like to change history when they say that Black Panther for example, was the first Marvel movie to have a black lead.It wasn’t.Blade beat it by about 20 years and that film was marketed as a kick ass action movie with a charismatic lead. Not “ Oh look he’s black! How progressive! “

The likes of Brie Larson think she’s the first female superhero to get her own movie. She’s not Wonder Woman and Supergirl got there before her.And there have been many great movies and tv shows in the past to feature strong women.

The pathetic fools who call themselves journalists either are plain stupid or just want to show how woke they are by making ridiculous claims like the ones above.

By the way, Ian Mckellan is one of my favourite actors. He’s gay.Aliens is one of my favourite movies and it has a kick ass female lead.Blade is one of my favourite Marvel movies and Wesley Snipes is black.

Got a quote for that? Or is it just made up?

My big problem with Marvel is the slapstick. Just one joke after another, and goofy gags galore. The special effects are utter grandeur, but the substance is blah. Action/Sci-fi is not a good combo for me. But, who can argue with billions in profit? Seems like 85% of the dialogue is built around comedy. Does anyone agree that’s overkill?
  • Uh oh, Campea is in serious trouble. He leaked 2 very important pics from the new spidey film. Click if you're not bothered.

That's fun. I'm not sure what the second one is/means, but they're not fake by the looks of it.

I've always thought it's wrong that Spidey's costume has a high neck when he takes his mask off- surely you'd want a really open neck so the cossie doesn't show under every outfit you wear? :D

Second one is Pete and his family talking to his lawyer, Matt Murdock.

So it looks like NWH will be the first Phase 4 Marvel Studios flick to be released in China. That means it will 100% become the first Hollywood film to hit the $1 billion mark globally of the pandemic era.

Have no idea why these movies have such appeal. It’s baffling. There should be a warning attached to the film that extreme campiness may cause one’s brain to shut down.

    People like campiness.

There's sometimes a perception that it's more grown-up to be gritty and humourless, but I think it's sometimes more adolescent to take things completely seriously and not see the inherent silliness in superheroes or superspies.

Guess I fall into the latter. If I want to watch a comedy, I’ll watch one. But if I turn on a Bond movie, for example, I don’t want “funny or foolishness.” To me, the camp is for kids. For instance, the 1960s Batman with West. When I was about 6 or 7 etc that was great. Now, it’s just plain goofy. Now the Nolan Batman series, that is for adults. Humor can easily ruin a good film.

You must loathe the Moore films.

Some of them, definitely. Yes. But really, I’m just a fan of Dalton and of course mainly Craig’s. I’ve seen them all, but the Moore films are so over the top, good grief. I’d label them as comedies. LALD, Moonraker, etc. Almost slapstick comedies. Why on earth they went in that direction I’ll never know.

I think half of 60s Batman was for the adults, to be honest. The kids enjoy it on the level of it being a real Batman adventure, whereas the adults enjoy it on the level of it all being tongue-in-cheek and poking fun at itself and laugh at the (really quite good) jokes.

    Exactly.

As a kid I enjoyed the show as a straight up adventure. Once I revisited as an adult I could finally see just how utterly hilarious and clever the writers were with the format of the show. That’s why it still resonates 60 years later, it’s a truly enjoyable piece of entertainment.

Yeah. I see your point. Kind of like if you’re a kid watching Classic Trek. When you’re a kid, you like the spaceships, phasers, fights etc. But when you get older, the morality plays within the episodes resonate in a different way. I loved the 60s Batman show growing up. But as makeshift python said, a lot of people like camp.

There’s an episode where Batman & Robin walk into a seedy bar full of rough types, and Batman tells Robin “try to look inconspicuous”. Wonderful stuff :)

Marvel: “ We are proud to present ETERNALS.A film full of diversity and representation! “

Middle East: “ You have to censor the gay scenes or we won’t show it “

Marvel: “ No! We believe in diversity and representation! “

Middle East: “ Ok we won’t show the film “

( Eternals opens to disappointing box office )

Marvel: “ We agree to edit the film so you can show it in your cinemas “

Middle East : “ What about your values? “

Marvel : “ We care more about money “

No Way Home trailer looks a bit of a mess, hope the film is better.

I felt the same when I watched the first trailer I don't like the way its been directed.

No Way Home doesn’t really do anything for me. Having Spidey in trouble with his identity exposed and his friends in danger as a result is a great concept for a film, but it looks like they’re going to brush that storyline aside quickly to open the door for a nostalgia-fest?

Introducing villains from other Spider-Man movies really doesn’t allow for any stakes for Holland’s Spidey. He doesn’t know who they are or what they’re capable of, they don’t know who he is and don’t have any history with him, so that idea just falls flat.

Generally speak I agree with you, but we’ll have to wait and see. It seems this thread is the only sane place on the internet, as the hyperbolic hype for this film is absurd. This film looks to take away many of the things I love about Spider-Man, in favour of fan service without any meaning to the characters.

The trailer does suggest this with Peter and his friends snickering at Doc Ock's name and Ock saying "You're not Peter Parker." It does seem like it's going to be all for the sake of nostalgia. Which will still be interesting surely, but especially with the inclusion of Doctor Strange (this Peter Parker sure does love his goateed mentors, doesn't he?), you have to wonder how much this will really be Holland's movie.
