Elliot was perfect casting, but I do think Ford is a great choice as well. He must of course grow a proper mustache.

My favourite part was the bizarre moment they escape from their San Francisco Arkham-style asylum, because it's clearly Goodwood House in Surrey, very recognisable internationally as the location of the Festival of Speed :)
@doubleoego, you took the words right out of my mouth. One of the biggest reasons I just don't care about where the MCU is going anymore is those kinds of creative decisions. When Chadwick died, I understood the strong reaction some had to want to see his legacy closed off and the character left to only be his in that universe (despite my strong disagreement), but as time has gone on I think we can almost universally agree that the choice to just kill him off or write him out (if that is indeed the plan) just isn't a good or honorable one. T'Challa is one of, if not the best character Marvel have entire access to at this point, and I think it will be a crying shame if they just kill him off and don't recast the character so that his story can continue.
I don't think Chadwick would want the character to die with him, and would love to see another black talent ascending to take on the man's story from where he left it off. There is so much that could still be told with T'Challa, as he was barely even king for very long and the whole point of his arc from CW to Endgame was him taking on that role and doing his father proud. He has yet to be truly tested, with so much more for him to face and overcome. I haven't looked too much into the second Black Panther film, but I was impressed by what I saw, and think it's such a rich world they could still explore through T'Challa's perspective.
I do have a question, though: am I to assume that this film takes place during the five years after the snap, before the Avengers reassembled and brought everyone back? That is the sense I get, but I may be wrong. If they end up killing T'Challa off, it will come off as even more awkward in light of the last time we saw him. He dies in Infinity War, is brought back in Endgame, then just...dies again? I know Chadwick is leaving big shoes to fill, but I don't see any reason why the character should just be taken away from that greater story when he is the brightest and most promising part of what we have left (at least in my opinion).
Even if they actually went that route, they’d still have to eventually address T’Challa’s fate.

@mtm, yes, but for sake of people here not wanting to know, I won't say who it likely is. Definitely seems like they're going the comic route with their choice.
@MakeshiftPython, I agree. The blip after the fact was played as more of a joke than I liked, as in Far From Home, but Endgame very effectively presented the true loneliness, trauma and pain of losing people you loved in a second to a crazy dice roll.
I read something a while ago saying BP2 could be set within that time in the MCU, and thought it would be a good idea from then on. It takes a lot of the pressure away from finding a way to deal with Chadwick's death, since T'Challa was already dead after the blip. And I think it's interesting to focus in on a Wakanda that just lost its king, leaving a lot of uncertainty about how it will function within a world hit by such a cataclysmic event. It also makes sense why Namor would choose to strike when he does, as opposed to the last time the country was without a king during Civil War. With a large portion of its warriors/fighters/tribes taken out, Wakanda would be far more vulnerable to attack, especially since their black panther is now gone.
I hope that when Marvel sees the reaction to the movie, and sees how much people want to see T'Challa return, they will come to their senses and make the best call for their story. The character is needed, and as sad as it is what happened to Chadwick, I don't for a second think he'd want the character to just die with him. Not a chance. I hope they can find a way to reintegrate him back into the story, as it is sloppy to kill him, bring him back from the snap, then kill him again, if this is the way they are doing it. He's too important to the ongoing story, and such a great character. It would be a waste.
I have a lot of sympathy for Ryan Coogler in all this. The man is under such intense pressure, not just because he's making a sequel to a much beloved movie that lost its star before production, but because that star was also a good friend of his. Can't imagine the sadness, stress and anxiety he's had as this movie had to change after Chadwick's death, then all the ups and downs with COVID that happened, to finally reach this point. What he's done looks impressive, and I hope that when the movie finally releases he gets respect no matter what people think about the quality or creative decisions. He seems to have done a ridiculously tough job extremely well, when he could've just walked away. I respect him for that.
The CGI overload is getting a little tired now, though lets see what they do with this version of Kang...
I'm waiting for this. I have high hopes for this short movie after Werewolf by Night.
GOTG are probably my favorite films from the MCU.
Hi Brady, forgive the late reply to your post, just seeing it now.
As I understand, the bulk of the film takes place after the events of Endgame. Losing Chadwick was a huge loss and I understand how close he was to the cast and crew. However, killing off the character is a huge mistake, especially as T'Challa technically died twice before (in his own movie and at the end of Infinity War). The character was just getting started and to see the rivalry between he and Namor on screen would have been a dream come true. They definitely should have recast. In any case, the film does look good but I'm not sure I'll be watching it. I don't feel thrilled at the prospect of sitting through a near 3 hour memorial.
Either case, let's at least wait to see what WAKANDA FOREVER has to offer befroe writing it off.

A little underwhelmed by how flat the colours look, especially since GotG is the only bit of the MCU I actually like, in no small part because of how visual distinctive it is. I really hope it sticks the landing, but I do have the fear it'll suffer from mediocre final act in the trilogy syndrome.
