I don't know why Agent Carter wasn't another Netflix exclusive from jump for Marvel. It would do great on there.
I thought that though the output of Netflix is a lot in coming months, they may still take Agent Carter on.

I don't see it. They'd never have MJ in a Spidey film without her trademark red hair, and Zendaya doesn't have it in the set pictures.

So far sir...as its our first intro into the super school...she's going to be an unsure teen who gradually over the three films asserts her independence and becomes more and more confident. I bet the red hair comes into play end of the first film or the second film. Either way she has great comic timing, perfect for the new spidey film.

Marvel have not let us down in casting major characters yet....they know what they're doing bro.

You haven't read the comics, have you? MJ is a fiery, feisty heartbreaker from jump. To hell with her developing independence or courage over time; she already has that!

this is the mcu sort of - they don't always follow the funny pages as seen in all marvel movies up to date, no?

No MCU characters strike me as "off," no. Tony is Tony, Cap is Cap, Bruce is Bruce, Widow is Widow, Thor is Thor, etc. The MCU interpretations are not perversions of the characters to the level of the DCEU, whose characters don't even feel familiar at times. That's part of why the MCU has been sailing on success for years, raking in billions, and the DCEU can't even get critical love or great profit.

Apparently Suicide Squad budget was $370 including marketing - so they need to make $700 million plus to break even. DC make great video games and animated movies - just watched Batman Year One - awesome. Why don't WB tap into this creative talent? They are crazy.

I don't know the exact Suicide Squad budget, @Sanchairs, but, with the added reshoot expenditure and the marketing, it is no doubt massive. The sad thing is that all that money doesn't even show up on the screen, as it so seldom does these days.

As for the second part of your post, I think adapting from animation to live action would be extremely difficult. It's easy to storyboard and animate action when you have complete control over the figures and environments you're drawing, but when you have to take the written word and translate it to live action with practical and special effects, it's much, much harder. Of course, I agree that using some of the talent on the animation side to develop scripts and do character designs wouldn't hurt, as they "get" the characters and their look.

I've seen Geoff Johns involved in every DCEU script beyond this point, from WW on, so hopefully that means we're finally getting exceptional films. WW and JL will show us whether WB can come back from this, or if they should just call it quits and go home.

Apparently Zendaya is playing a character named "Michelle," leading some to predict she's Michelle Gonzalez (she must be a newer Spidey character, as I'm unfamiliar):

I don't know if MJ will even be in this film. I think it'd be a great post credits scene to have Peter post-battle relaxing in his house, when he hears a knock on his door. When he opens the door it's revealed to be MJ, who delivers the jackpot line. They'd just have to figure out the exact context of why she'd say he'd won the jackpot. I think it'd be a fun ending, especially if they could manage to hide the casting of MJ throughout all of the filming to make it a surprise.

Michelle is an ex girlfriend of Peters.
She's supposed to be a non white character, mixed (which is Zendaya).

There's a lot of blacks posting photos and saying black power we got a white MJ. If you're white and post something negative about the casting you're pretty much jumped anywhere on social media claiming you're a racist..

It's so dumb!! I am a DC and Marvel fan and I understand bending things slightly but a non red hair MJ is like joker not having green hair.

It's stupid rumors. Like Idris Elba being Bond. Notice how there isn't a ton of black actors in the running for Bond it

Black Panther had his own title, but he first appeared in an arc in Fantastic Four. The Black Widow (and Hawkman) were first villains in Iron Man, IIRC. The Maximov Twins ? Members of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants (in X-Men) before appearing in Avengers. The Falcon ? Captain America's sidekick. War Machine ? Iron Man's sidekick. And Vision appeared first in Avengers. Only Spider-Man had his own title, and has appeared in multiple media (cartoons, TV series and movies) before appearing in Civil War. So no, I'm not splitting hairs here. Just mentioning that the fact that they all appeared first in an ensemble movie is a reflection of them appearing first in a comicbook not of their own. Which is not the case for Flash, Aquaman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern (but is the case for Cyborg). If DC wanted to do things right, they should have made those characters appear in their own movie first, before having them join in Justice League, just ike Marvel did for Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America.

I was referring to the movies, not the comics. I don't care how DC Comics is handling their saga. They can do it how they want to. All I know is that I have been enjoying their films so far, just as I had enjoyed Marvel. That is all that matters to me. I refuse to get into this stupid comic book movie feud. It's stupid, because I'm not going to financially benefit from it in the end.

There's no DC vs. Marvel feud here. I don't know a single person who frequents this thread that loves one and despises the other. We just want to see great modern myths in the form of superhero movies, no matter which company they come from.

There's an illusion of a Marvel vs. DC war here, but that's all it is. Even the people who prefer the Marvel movies watch the DC movies, and vice versa. More people are disappointed by DC movies, however.

@Sanchairs, a commentator on the current slate of superhero films said something similar. They asked, "What will come first, a bad Marvel movie or a good DC movie?"

yep - i know the quote just summed up the current mood for critics and now movie goers.

I'm desperate for a great superman movie - capin america has taken his mantle - capin america has taken over superman's mantle as a symbol of hope & integrity - marvel is genius.

@Sanchairs, you'd be surprised by the similarities between Cap and Superman, both created by Jewish men who were looking for a hero of their own during a time of great oppression, hatred, instability and uncertainty for their people and the world. Cap and Superman are the two "captains" of their companies, as well, each standing for the very best values we've got as a human race, always making the right calls without fault.

Hence Amalgam combined the two to make Super Soldier. Although, now we've got DCEU Superman and Hydra Cap...

It's great how these characters, especially in the political climate of the states at the mo, have become even more relevant. I mean Luke Cage, a bullet proof black man - the actor pointed that out - perfect timing.

And that's why I prefer Marvel's take (although they did copy a lot) on their super characters. The origins and the history of the x-men against the back drop of the civil rights movement is so spot on. Marvel deal with real issues instead of god like issues. DC's most grounded character is still their most successful and he's a normal man, or should I say Batman.
