Listening to YOLT score on CD (I have reverted back to listening to music on CD as much as possible), I absolutely love this soundtrack.

Nice, a good amount of variety there. Love the cover art, Andy Warhol meets Atari.

Speaking of which, I'm looking forward to Q the Music Show's upcoming video of the Moonraker pre-title music. That's next week IIRC.

The cable car music is friggin' sick. Incredibly exciting despite its slow-paced, martial feel. In At 0:13, the melody is pure Bond with that big leap upwards in the middle of each phrase (in fact those notes are straight out of the Bond Theme). I also think the fact the mix is reverb-heavy adds a great deal to the music. If this had a drier mix like in, say, the DAF action theme, it wouldn't work as well.

Pure Desmond - James Bond Theme

    This is smooth.

I need to get an expanded version of this score, so many other great themes from Moonraker i have not looked into whether an expanded score is available.

Nothing official, of course, but there is plenty of unreleased music on YouTube.

Then there are my own reconstructions:

I never grow tired of this album, especially the music from 1:16 until the end. I wish Douglas would work on the second half of the film.

Venini Glassworks is eerie, MR score for me is a masterpiece, its so bizarre the score itself makes the film worth watching.

MR to me is incredible on a technical level.

    Classic.

Venini sounds very melancholic to me. The music appears to be inspired by the aged stone columns as much as the onscreen action.

And that woodwind motif that opens the track is so quirky.

Good point, I like it when composers captures the scene and environment, Lawrence of Arabia is probably the greatest example. It baffles me when a score is written when the composer has not meticulously watched the film.

Instant favorite. Not a departure at all from the original, but I like hearing the vibraphone so loudly and clearly, and with the long sustain. Not to mention watching the musicians play.

I bought The Very Best of Matt Monro on cassette earlier today, just listening to From Russia with Love. Matt Monro recorded some great music most of the tracks on this cassette were produced by George Martin.

Nice. I should listen to more of him. The other song I love is On Days Like These.

That track is on there, it's a very good album. A few of the tracks I forgot or did not realise it was Matt who sung them.

    Track listing...
    Born Free
    Softly, As I Leave You
    From Russia With Love
    On Days Like These
    Walk Away
    Around the World
    My Love and Devotion
    Michelle
On a Clear Day (You Can See Forever)
    Somewhere
    The Impossible Dream
    Gonna Build a Mountain
Who Can I Turn To (When Nobody Needs Me)
    Portrait of My Love
    Speak Softly Love
    My Kind of Girl
    For Mama
    Yesterday
    This Time
    We're Gonna Change the World

Listening on analogue felt very nostalgic, the Beatles covers are great as is Barry'/Don Black Born Free.

FRWL on this album appeared to be different though it could just be the format, I will have to do a side by side comparison when I get time.

I think We Share the Same Passions is one of the best romantic cues of the Bond films. Just fantastic. Probably deserves more attention than it has received.

Very much like FYEO and LTK, GE has got better and better over the years for me and offers a unique take on Bond music. When i first watched the mentioned films on release the scores were quite jarring as Barry was the man and anything else (not including LALD just did not measure up when I was a kid... decades later i love those scores and listen to them frequently.

Agreed, they tend to get better as time goes by.

Listening to FRWL again on my new £450 dual tape deck, bliss the warm sound is very fitting for this track.

On Days Like These @mattjoes is an incredible track listening to it again.

I think Matt Monro is better than Andy Williams, I am a fan of Williams and listen to his music often.

I need to get some Barry on tape, the albums I used to have on tape I wish I could go back in time and say... do not throw them away. to younger self.

Listening to Fight at Kobi Docks one of my favorite.

I have decided to do some more Bond play lists, a separate one for each decade, one for 60's, 70's, 80's then I will just do a PB era and a DC era mixed together.
