Title Track: SF (Adele's song is a classic of the series. Love the way the Bond theme is weaved into it and how it builds from quiet to soaring by the end.)

Title Credits: SF (I love these opening titles. I enjoy the story they tell, the striking visuals, especially coming out of the PTS and with the title track wedded to them)

Main Villain: DN I really did go back and forth in this. Silva is a favourite of mine but Julius pips him at the post. There is something other-worldly about Joseph Wiseman's performance and his disembodied voice in the scene with Dent is first class Bond villainy.)

Main Bond Girl: DN I don't consider Severine a 'main' Bond girl so not much competition for Honey Chile!

Henchmen: DN I don't mind Patrice but he's a little Bourne-era mirthless assassin. I prefer the slimey Dent and memorable Three Blind Mice.

Overall Plot: DN while thematically I like the cohesion of Skyfall, its plot is messy.

Dialogue: DN I like the taut dialogue and playful one liners.

Score: DN While not the biggest Newman fan I do like elements of his score but I actually really like DN's score. I love the Jamaican flavour - twisting with James, Kingston calypso, jump up and I sing underneath the mango tree to myself quite often! Of course it has the first play of the Bond theme and I even like the dramatic hits as Bond kills the tarantula!

Settings: DN Ian Fleming's Jamaica...lovingly presented because it was a real asset back then to be able to show off another exotic country like that.

Action: SF I really like SF's PTS, Bond flying off the bike onto the train. The fight with Patrice and the destruction of the homestead at the climax.

Humour: DN I actually don't mind SF's humour and when people like Wishaw and Bardem's are in screen I like it a lot! Just love the black humour of early Connery, the banter with Sylvia Trench, the playful interactions with Honey and dark one liners from Bond.

Cinematography: SF Deakins is the man. Plain and simple. Breathtaking stuff.

    Benign Bizarre: DN

    Suspense: SF

Minor Characters: DN (quarrel, Leiter, Bernard lee's M and Maxwell's Moneypenny. This is close as I really like Severine, Wishaw's Q, Dench's M and Naomi Harris' Moneypenny.)

Glamour: DN SF has some beautifully glamourous scenes - the floating casino and Shanghai especially. But there is some intoxicating about DN - in its opening casino scene and the Jamaican locations, Dr No's lair. It's a film I want to be a part of.

Bond Performance: DN I like Craig in SF...but Connery in his first three films is virtually untouchable.

    DN: 12
    SF: 5

DN vs SP has been done on this thread. It started as "DN vs the field".

And it was worked out a few pages ago, in another few decades it will be SF vs the field if we do one a month :D :D :D

EDIT: I just did the maths it will be 25 years if we do one a month and 5.7 years if we do per week *lol* That's with 24 movies...

You know, just out of curiosity, I've worked out a few statistics of my own. Considering you've already done Spectre vs. the field and ignoring Dr. No vs. the field as it's about to finish, if you were to do every remaining Bond film vs. the field, the number of remaining matches would be:

    21 + 20 + 19 + ... + 1

By the formula of the nth partial sum of the infinite natural number series, with n=21, that equals 21x22/2 = 231 matches

If you take a month with each match, you'll take 231 months to go through all the matches. 231 months are 19 years and 4 months.

How long will it take at the pace we are actually going at?

DN beats SF 16-1 and Craig is just no Connery who is easily the Alpha male of the bunch, it feels like Craig is always trying to push the history of the franchise away in favor of showing how cool he is. Which I find one of the most annoying aspects of Craigs tenure, instead of being 007 on his own merits. Doctor No is an original while SF is nothing but a collection of plotholes.

That's a very good point and I agree with that, especially with SP.

Yes I feel like the Mendes films try to ram down our throats what James Bond is - martini, DB5, tux. Whereas as recently as Casino Royale it was shown to us

@vzok There's 231 matches left. And 23 matches for DN vs the field. And it's taken 2 years. Roughly one match per month. About 20 years...plus additional time for future movies

I’m game... fills the gap between movies. Important to note at our current movie pace we’d only get four movies in that time, so that won’t impact the contest’s duration too much.

If we speed things up and play regularly then it should be fine.

However, someone will need to take over this thread and a mod will need to allow them access to change the title often.
