Monica Bellucci was seriously considered for Paris, but she has a classically beautiful look and screen presence that would have been right at home in one of the '60s films (take your pick).
Izabella Scorupco and Olga Kurylenko could have easily swapped roles if they were contemporaries. Because her character in QOS is so similar, I could also see Kurylenko as Melina in FYEO.
It may have been a bit of a stretch, but I think Jane Seymour could have done fine work as Elektra King.
Eva Green has played femme fatales quite effectively. I might have cast her as either Fiona Volpe or Helga Brandt (from YOLT).
Martine Beswick has an amazing physical presence and can be very effective in certain roles, but she is criminally underutilized in her two Bond films. I would have selected her to play Octopussy and given her more action scenes. I could also see her as Xenia Onatopp.
Any number of actresses are more convincing than Denise Richards, but my pick for Christmas Jones would be Naomie Harris.
I've long thought that Teri Hatcher's take on Paris reminded me a lot of Jill St. John's Tiffany. In fact a part of me wishes when they cast Miss Hatcher in TND that they would've made her character Tiffany Case Carver instead. You then get a Bond girl character with a past the viewers are already familiar with and I can imagine that after being dumped by 007, the opportunistic Miss Case would've married the uber-wealthy Elliot Carver to try to retrieve the diamonds from Blofeld's satellite. I could also picture Miss Hatcher as Tiffany in DAF as well.
That's an excellent choice.
Some others I've thought of:
Priscilla Barnes as Stacy Sutton
Eva Green as Tracy Bond
Carole Bouquet as Vesper Lynd
Christina Cole as Miss Moneypenny
Caterina Murino as Domino Derval
Caroline Munro as Octopussy Smythe
And some exact switches:
Karin Dor as Miranda Frost
Rosamund Pike as Miss Brandt/SPECTRE No. Eleven
Talisa Soto as Manuela
Emily Bolton as Lupe Lamora
Lana Wood as Christmas Jones
Denise Richards as Plenty O'Toole
Eva Green is actually blond. She could have been novel Tracy.
This is very true. Astute observation.
Jill St. John as Stacey would've been a fairly radical change. With Tanya Roberts, Stacey comes across as slightly naive and vulnerable, but St. John, with her savvy, lively persona, would've turned her into less of a victim, more of a fighter. If nothing else one can say it would've been entertaining to watch.
If wanting to preserve Stacey's vulnerable, delicate quality, I think Carole Bouquet could've done a good job.
Rosamund Pike as Madeline in Spectre
