Rattle rattle, jewellery jewellery. It brings to mind the vile Jimmy Savile, who apparently gave John Lennon the idea to wear the moon-shaped spectacles.

    @Dragonpol

Jimmy Savile was under the radar of people outside the UK until he was implicated and charged as he was. But John Lennon's quote has been all around the world immediately, just like his "more popular than Jesus" remark. So whatever Jimmy Savile suggested that John do, was of no concern to non-Brits.

But apart from that, I was just trying to find an appropriate quote of applause for getting rid of Marmiteman.

Well, we are not now that strength which in old day moved earth and heaven. That which we are, we are, one equal measure of heroic hearts, made weak by time and fate, and strong in will, to strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield.

Yes, I get that Jimmy Savile wasn't well known outside of the UK. Weren't you lucky! That was until the notoriety of his crimes became exposed. John Lennon was a superstar but I've never been a fan because of reasons I won't go into here.

Your message of applause for the uprooting of a bothersome troll is to be welcomed. We certainly don't suffer fools gladly here and that's how it should be.

This past few days, I discovered that some of the albums I bought on iTunes have simply disappeared from my computer. I know I have bought them (one is even on my iPod), but I can't find them, and even less access them on my computer. Any idea why ?

I wish I could help. I’ve also had music disappear in the past and was never able to find it. Years ago I just started buying physical albums then download the CDs onto iTunes to guarantee having the music stay.

That's one of the upsides of having physical media instead of streaming etc. Plus the haptic pleasure of unwrapping a new CD, DVD or BD, putting it into the player and awaiting how it turns out to be.

    Try this:

    https://appletoolbox.com/purchased-music-missing-from-itunes-or-apple-music-try-these-settings/

On a related topic: several years ago there was a discussion about whether itunes (or Amazon digital) purchases were really purchases at all. The kicker being that they were - in effect - extended rentals that the company could recall under certain conditions. Does anybody remember reading about this?

In any case, that is yet another reason to go "old school" and have physical media on hand.

You and I are on the same page on this issue. I've never downloaded music or films and much prefer physical copies of albums and books than their more ethereal and intangible digital counterparts. Sometimes the old ways are still the best.

    Same. Physical formats, here.

+1 for Physical Media. For me my biggest concern is video game preservation at the moment. It’s a huge shame that Sir Sean Connery’s final performance as James Bond could be lost to time forever if the FRWL game can’t be properly preserved. Though I suppose many could make the argument that Emulation does exactly that.

Same here, absolutely. I'm a collector of physical DVD's, Bluray's, CD's, books. Digital content is awesome, but "volatile" sometimes.

I have to admit that I really like digital, for obvious reasons: I have my movies available at any time, and I avoid using up precious storage space for releases that I don't watch that often. Keeping theses "lesser" films available on my digital streaming service of choice (be it Apple or Google) is obviously no trouble at all.

Then there's several downsides with digital too, of course: If you have a TV show you really liked that you watched on one of the numerous streaming services out there, then you can really never be sure it will be there forever. For shows where the streaming service have purchased the rights rather than them producing the show themselves, you can be sure that those rights will run out eventually. As for shows that the streaming services produce themselves – well, not all of them actually get a physical release…

As for my physical collection, I try to limit my purchases to films and TV shows I know I want to watch again for years to come. There are also a lot of films and TV shows that you simply aren't able to find on any streaming service – which means you have no choice but to get them on a physical format.

And now I cannot receive or send emails because my mailbox is full. And now matter how many emails I delete, it's still full.

I'm having this same problem with my old Hotmail email account too. I've deleted a ton of emails but it's still bringing up that my Mailbox is full and I can't send or receive emails from it. I've had to create a new email address in the meantime. Does anyone have any suggestions on what more I can do with my old email account?

    Time for rwo minor rants..............

    1. I had to explain to one of my neighbors who CLINT EASTWOOD is. She had no idea.

    2. One of my coworkers told me he had decided to watch a movie the other night, and several classic Bonds were available on his streaming system. He seemed interetsed in the 60's films, but opted to watch PULP FICTION instead. He found the film pointless and medicore. I think he might've enjoyed Bond more as the only Bond film he's seen is THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH. Next time I work with him I may actually suggest he go for CASINO ROYALE. I think a more modern Bond might appeal to him.

I said "Get off my lawn!".
She may vaguely know that movie reference. Actually I explained he's been around for generations and is both a directing and movie star icon.... or something to that effect.

It's funny in this day and age , most of what people watch are story arc streaming series on Netflix, HBO Max, etc. General knowledge of cinema seems to becoming more scarce unless it's Marvel or something.
