    TB and CR

Even though I love LALD, CR is one of my favourite films. I have a soft spot for NSNA but it can't compete with TB.

    These are still easy picks.

TB crushes NSNA. Far better in every aspect.

CR wallops LALD. Apart from the eccentricity factor and theme song, LALD is outmatched (and in many areas outclassed) in everything. Fairly mediocre entry can't stand a chance against the series' finest showing.

Another non event. I presume at some point we are going to get some heavyweight ties like FRWL v OHMSS but at the moment this game is just delivering routine thrashings.

TB v NSNA = TB: Why go for the cheap Chinese imitation over the real thing? Not a big fan of TB at all but it trumps NSNA in every dept apart from Largo who is terribly underwhelming in the original but manically unhinged in a fabulous performance by Klaus Maria Brandauer. One of the most underrated villains and possibly a top half ranking if up against all the EON villains.

LALD v CR= CR. Close to perfection v a slice of camp from early 70s 'we're running out of ideas here' Hamilton trilogy.

    A no brainer :

    TB & CR.

    Both favourites of mine.
CR is currently #1 in my rankings.
TB is currently #5 in my rankings.

LALD is at #14 (recently moved up 3 places so is moving in the right direction.)

    my picks:
    TB
    CR

TB is Connery and the 60s.
CR doesn't have Connery but otherwise it's flawless and imagining Sean playing the part, it would even come closer to OHMSS which is my favorite Bond film.

Thunderball over NSNA. A classic Bondian, if not bloated, epic, vs a hate filled excuse of a film. After all that hard work acquiring the screen rights, NSNA doesn't even follow the novel that closely. McClory really busted a gut trying to get the rights to Thunderball. A greatest hits collection, if I've ever saw one. Each scenario in TB, the novel, has been done better in the preceding Fleming tales.

Casino Royale over Live and Let Die.

    Thunderball, obviously.
    Casino Royale: quintessential Bond.

NSNA - There are many things that I appreciate about TB, just as I do with all of the original 60's films. However, I just have a lot more fun with NSNA. It's not half as bad as some make it out to be and even betters the original in some areas.

CR - I really enjoy the heck out of LALD, but CR is on another level.

Bond in the Bahamas double bill

I figure the Bahamas section in CR was meant to be a tribute to TB(the location, Bond beating the villain at the gaming tables and winning his woman).

TB was my first Bond film so it will always hold a special place in my heart. It’s constantly Top 15 and a potential Top 10 contender on my list.

Another easy round. Definitely FRWL and OHMSS for me.

Why are we making these so easy?

FRWL vs MR - while Moore's fourth outing will always have a special place in my heart for the sheer audacity of the undertaking (it's still visually an epic feast that has yet to be bettered to this day imho), FRWL is my firm #1 film. So no contest. It's perfection to me. A relatively unique 'realistic' tight suspense thriller that predates the now somewhat stale formula.

OHMSS vs QoS - OHMSS by far. It's a film that improves with every viewing for me and one that continues to increase in my rankings. It really is classic Bond at its finest. A real achievement which in some ways has an old school Hollywood vibe to it while still being distinctly British. QoS has its moments and there is a lot to like (Kurylenko, Arterton and Almaric as well as a killer performance from Craig), but I can never rank it too high because it comes across as being a bit too influenced by contemporary action fare to me. A bit too busy.

    OHMSS over QOS

    Another easy choice.

    Wow so easy.

FRWL over MR - Pretty sure I prefer everything about Connery’s second to Moore’s fourth. A Top 10 Bond film vs. a bottom 3 one for my list.

OHMSS over QOS - QOS is a middling Bond in my book, which means it’s decent but still not nearly as good as OHMSS, which is my second favorite Bond film. Again, pretty much everything about OHMSS is preferred for me over QOS.
