Criminal lawyer (Nicholas Joy) arrives at the hotel.

    Lou crushes his glasses.

    Hilarious scene!

    Lou is fired for incompetence.

Now Lou threatens his life in front of everyone...............then trips over the luggage.

    Bud laughs at Lou's expense.

Lou out of uniform goes to apologize to the rude lawyer who turns up dead.

Some great reactions from Costello here.

Lou FINALLY realizes he's dead and goes screaming.

Why it's everyone's favorite( or least favorite) Charlie Chan ROLAND WINTERS!!!!!!!

I should watch some of his Chan films again.

All the guests at the hotel are suspects, but Lou is the prime suspect.

Boris Karloff is a phony Swami.

A gun has been planted into Lou's room.

Bud and Lou are sneaking around the hotel corridors middle of the night.

Lenore Aubert from ABBOTT AND COSTELLO MEET FRANKENSTEIN again plays a femme fatale role here.

    There's Boris...hypnotizing Lou.
He looks good in this film. He turned down the role of the Monster in MEET FRANKENSTEIN, but participated in the publicity tours for the film.

Here he gets a good role. Well, decent role.

Character actor JAMES FLAVIN is the police inspector.

Lou is forced to remain at the hotel as a guest of the state.

He's milking it for what it's worth. Manicure, shave and acting obnoxious.

As much as I love MEET FRANKENSTEIN, BUCK PRIVATES, HOLD THAT GHOST and WHO DONE IT, this one is my favorite A&C film.

Boris attempts to hypnotize Lou into committing suicide.

My favorite section of the film: Lou disguised as a maid, and Bud smuggle dead bodies around the hotel in the middle of the night.

Much like SPECTRE, this film heavily borrows music cues from the previous entry.

    I can forgive it here.

Not as many of Bud and Lou's traditional routines here, but funny nevertheless.

The iconic character actor PERCY HELTON and his famous voice.
Here he's making a pass at Costello (in drag).

Bud and Lou are hiding the corpses in the card room.

They're going to play bridge with the dead bodies.

Lou trapped in the steam room.
Don't worry, I'll call the chef.

Climactic scene in the bottomless pit caves.

    Great sets and effects here.

Overall a fun movie night triple feature.

Now off to hit the hay.

    Good night.

    DRACULA (1979)

Frank Langella!!!!!!!!!!!!!! One of my favorite versions.

Langella has entered the scene and is about to enjoy some dinner.

He's just removed a beautiful velvet cape with a deep burgundy lining. Hard to see the lining here, because this is the de-saturated version.

Trevor Eve as Jonathan Harker makes SCARS OF DRACULA's Dennis Waterman look like Sean Connery as Bond.

    The colors suck.

Mina is frail and ill, Dracula is about to hypnotize her into health.

Dracula is dancing with Lucy (KATE NELLIGAN) while Trevor Eve's Harker looks c**k-blocked and jealous.

Kate Nelligan is one of my favorite Lucy's in Dracula film history,
Now she's sneaking out middle of the night to sooth the hurt feelings of Trevor Eve's dashing Jonathan Harker.

I think Trevor Eve now, could make a decent Dracula himself, or a Bond villain. Father of Alice Eve.

Langella is crawling down the estate walls. Pretty eerie image. This would look amazing if this were the original 1979 color timing. But no. It's muted beyond belief.
Even the Blu-ray release was the muted (mutilated) version.
Still this remains a favorite Dracula film for me.

Tony Haygarth plays a bearded Renfield. He looks a bit like Victor French on HIGHWAY TO HEAVEN.

Makes a good Renfield and the scenes of him eating bugs are both repulsive and funny.

Mina dies in front of everyone. Dr Seward (DONALD PLEASENCE) attempts to save her life by repeatedly slapping her face.

He screwed that up and now...............................she's dead.
