Dracula awakes and it's too late.

    Bye bye Harker.

Peter Cushing looks great here. Van Helsing arrives at the Inn to follow up on the now missing Harker.

The innkeeper (George Woodbridge) gives Van Helsing sh*t.

Off goes Dracula in a white coffin.

Dracula lives near Klausenburg, so it's not exactly defined as Transylvania here. All the characters live in the same vicinity. No commute to London. Hammer streamlined the plot considerably, but, IMO it works well.

Van Helsing stakes Harker as the scene fades.

I remember my dad calling every video store in the city to find a copy of this one. He took 3 or 4 buses to rent it, which took about 2 and a half hours.

The distance was only 5 miles, if that.

We watched it late one Saturday afternoon. Looking back I kind of wish we had waited until late in the night. The other Hammer's I saw were aired on television around 11pm on Friday and Saturday nights. Gave the viewing experience more of an ambiance.

There is no question that Peter Cushing is my favorite Van Helsing.

Holmwood (MICHAEL GOUGH) and Van Helsing trace Lucy (CAROL MARSH) to her grave and stake her.
This is one section of Stoker's novel that most film adaptations don't tamper with too much. A great scene here.

If I had to pick one Dracula movie to label as the best it would be this one. I prefer it to some of the more faithful adaptations.
Though my favorite Hammer Dracula is a toss up between this, DRACULA PRINCE OF DARKNESS and DRACULA HAS RISEN FROM THE GRAVE.

Leaving space dock, the model work for the Enterprise departing is better than any CGI today
