He is being accused of larceny and threatened with jail time....................all so he could make out with Jeanne Cagney in a photo-booth.

And he was STILL interrupted by Peter Lorre!

    I love film noir.

Mickey Rooney just had a great 'I'm f**ked" facial expression.

He's also doing a voice over narration.

Wow! Jack Elam! Another great noir character actor. Memorable in KISS ME DEADLY.

Mickey Rooney just robbed an arcade patron and took his money.

Now things are really going to go downhill for him.

QUICKSAND is directed by Irving Pichel. So memorable as Gloria Holden's servant in DRACULA'S DAUGHTER.

Now Rooney just had a little fistfight with arcade owner Peter Lorre.
    He's pretty tough here.

Peter Lorre is blackmailing Rooney for a new car in exchange for his silence.

I wonder how Robert Mitchum would handle this?

Rooney's boss is pushing him around, Great actor, ART SMITH, who played Bogie's manager/agent in the classic IN A LONELY PLACE.

Now they're planning to steal $3000 from Lorre's arcade.

She just used the money to buy a mink coat. This reminds me of GOODFELLAS.

Now he just strangled his boss. He's officially a murderer. At the start of the film he was a nice guy.
Mickey Rooney is great in this.

If one is having a bad week, money is tight, the bills are piling, the jobs sucks, etc my remedy is to pop in a film noir where the protagonist is in a similar spot and watch him go berserk.

Mickey Rooney's ex girlfriend (BARBARA BATES) is right by his side even though he cheated on her with Jeanne Cagney.

In real life it always works out that way.

Now he's kidnapped lawyer TAYLOR HOLMES.

Holmes played Scrooge in that 1949 TV version of A Christmas Carol narrated by Vincent Price. That's the version with a young JILL ST JOHN.

Taylor Holmes was also in GENTLEMEN PREFER BLONDES. I should watch that next.

This film is nearing it's climax.

After a brief chase on the pier, Rooney is arrested but is helped by his lawyer buddy, Scrooge.

    THE END!!!!!!!!!

Now I am in the mood for a Marilyn Monroe movie...................but GPB isn't it.

This film walks that fine line of noir. It's really a psychological thriller, but I'd go ahead classify it as noir. The cinematography, lighting, urban setting, Richard Widmark, and themes of moral conflict justify it enough for me.

I like New York in June............

    How about you?

Anne Bancroft is singing this hit tune.

George Hamilton also sang it in LOVE AT FIRST BITE.

    MARILYN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

She enters the hotel in which Bancroft is crooning.

Elisha Cook Jr plays Marilyn's uncle, an elevator operator at the hotel.

I had a job as an elevator operator for awhile.

It was fun, and I cracked a lot of jokes.

Elisha Cook Jr got her a job as a baby sitter.

The father is played by the legendary JIM BACKUS!!!!

James Dean's ineffectual, whipped dad in REBEL WITHOUT A CAUSE.

I always liked Richard Widmark. So great in KISS OF DEATH and ROAD HOUSE.

    He plays Anne Bancroft's boyfriend.

The little kid Marilyn is baby sitting is kind of an obnoxious brat.

Richard Widmark is getting dumped by Anne Bancroft for being an insensitive a**hole.
Widmark looks rugged, yet suave and dapper.

    Controversial opinion:

I think Daniel Craig should take the next 6 months to grow his hair to CR press conference length, then take a photo of Richard Widmark in DON'T BOTHER TO KNOCK to the nearest barber shop and get that cut for BOND 25.

Widmark looks suave and I think Daniel could pull it off.

You can do no wrong with a film that has Elisha Cook Jr.
Widmark is watching Marilyn from his hotel room window. Peeping tom. She closes the blinds.

Now he creepily calls her on the phone from his room. Seeing as he just got his a$$ dumped he's on the re-bound.

Marilyn has been messing with the mother's clothes and make-up and is being scolded by Elisha Cook Jr.

Most art work for this film depicts the dress Marilyn is wearing as a deep maroon/red. I imagine that's probably correct.

    She looks great here.
