That rocket looks very similar to the one in Destination Moon
The second poster has the two astronauts also lol its definitely the same rocket.
Interesting! Looks like the poster art was well thought through.
I found the ship, see above your last post.
That's the one! Looks like the artist might have traced the spaceship from that second poster, applying his/her spin on it.
I love this movie incredibly atmospheric.
Edited: Make that 4...
Haven't watched too many 50's sci-fi movies, but one I have watched, is The Blob:
Not the most memorable poster perhaps, but I like it.
They all evoke the time period in which the films were made, 50's paranoia in Sci Fi was tangible. The Blob is good and if my memory serves me it's the great Steve McQueen's earliest film.
Them...
Agree. The posters really much look representative of that period – from striking illustrations to nice hand-lettered typography. The poster from Tarantino's Death Proof also used custom lettering, come to think of it:
The Blob was McQueen's first feature film, I think.
Interesting! Think I have to find this film. :-)
The first part of Them is one of the most eerie and atmospheric first acts of any film, it really is good.
The Planet Terror posters were good too. Really need to rewatch those two films soon.
Didn't think it would be, but Google Play has Them available! Will definitely check it out once I'm in the mood for some 50's sci-fi.
The 50's especially was a great era for Sci Fi, tapping into the post war angst. I will try to get a print of Them tomorrow on my day off.
I should really try to watch more 50's sci-fi. Plenty of films to watch!
Lovely details!
Very well executed, where is this from? Is it supposed to be a Roulette wheel?
Realy nice poster! Do you know who made it?
I like that poster not seen that one before.
Another Sci Fi classic. I like the film and the poster for its concept.
Here's a video of The War of the Worlds poster:
Never seen Silent Running before, but that poster is absolutely fantastic. Very 70's!
I'll be so lucky to see it next Monday at a special screening. Can't wait.
Oh, that is quality artwork right there! Looks like something Jock could have made.
Silent Running has a strong eco message, the film was directed by the legendary Douglas Trumbell who worked on the effects of some of the greatest science fiction films ever made, including 2001: A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Blade Runner.
The Mondo War of the World poster is striking it really pops with the colours.
I am a fan of Orson I never knew this was happening ill certainly give it a watch.
Not much of a sci-fi guy, but should probably check it out sometime. Do love 70's-films.
