Should we get a new M / Q / Moneypenny for BOND 26 and beyond ?

Ben Wishaw was introduced in Skyfall, but after Daniel's final outing, should he continue as Q?

    Yes, absolutely. I'd prefer Q was not like Moneypenny. And, why do they keep recasting her, come to think of it? Wouldn't longer serving actors similar to Lois Maxwell and Desmond Llewellyn be better?

    Q plus Moneypenny and M are well cast and established in the roles, all three should continue with the next Bond actor.

    Definitely not.

    Now I'm not attatched to Fiennes and Harris at all. Fiennes is good, better than Brown but isn't a patch on Dench or Lee. Naomi Harris is a really good actress but I think just seems awkward as Moneypenny. Really can't figure out what it is, if it's her or the script or the direction or her not having chemistry with Craig or what. I'm interested to see how both of them are with a different director, but right now my feeling is that if they get recast when Craig leaves I won't lose any sleep. Might even be a good move if they're sticking with the idea of the Craig movies as their own seperate, closed off Nolan Batman sort of deal.

    But Wishaw? I didn't like the look of him when he was cast. Hated the concept of a geeky young hacker Q. But he's brilliant. Manages to be both a completely fresh take on the character while still also feeling like it's still that character. I liked Cleese as well, but Wishaw is in my opinion on another level. The perfect successor to Desmond and by far the best of the Craig regulars (Dench included, always preferred her with Brosnan, wasn't as keen on the Craig version). I think since Dench got to stay on across the reboot then he should too if there is one. He's great.

    We don't need a new Q and won't do for a very, very long time imo. This take is great, and he's such a good actor that he could easily keep at it as he gets older, maybe slowly becoming a more traditional version once we're at a point where he's older than the actor playing Bond. He could play Q for even longer than Desmond did, if not longer.

    I'll be gutted if he goes when Craig does. I know he's a busy actor, but I really hope that he wants to stay and find the time for these films even if it becomes a smaller part, and I hope that EON have the sense to let him.

    In my opinion, I'd like only Fiennes to return as M. In a limited, Bernard Lee like role. Just like Judi Dench's M eased us into to Craig's CR. So a new Q, new Moneypenny and all new MI6 regulars for B26.

    I love Whishaw as Q, but wouldn't it be strange to see a 50 year old Whishaw trying to keep up the image of a young, geeky Q?

    No recasting the MI6 crew, thanks. I expect Bond 26 will see a continuation of these actors with a new Bond actor, like with Connery-Laz-Moore. The scenes between Bond and Q are highlights of the Mendes films... I'm curious why Q in particular is being singled out here.

    Bond 27 & Beyond should be the quistion i think and atleast Ben Wishaw and Fiennes should stay.

    Definitely Wishaw should stay, although if this is to be a full stop when DC walks away and I'm still of the suspicion they are going down the route of closing off this timeline permanently when Craig leaves. Be it this film or maybe another (I can hear the gnashing of teeth of the Craig haters as I type at the prospect of it). I can see a whole new bunch of actors being cast in these roles.

    I also think that fans are not going to get their ideal wet dream the next time round, be it that plank of wood gets the job or that Poldark fella.

    A number of the collective are setting themselves for a huge disappointment. I know some think we are going to reset back to the Roger/Pierce era because supposedly things need to lighten up.

    I do feel though although someone might turn the dimmer switch a few notches, a good bit of what was established in the DC era will be here to stay, especially with Barbara at the controls.

    I am not really sure? Guess whether they change what kind of movies we will be getting once DC has left the role.

    I think Ben, Ralph and Naomi should stay. They can play their characters for a long time. Bond 26 could be a soft reboot.

    I'm torn on this. I'd really like a re-boot that establishes M, Moneypenny and Q as the characters Fleming created: Sir Miles Messervy, Major Boorthoyd, etc

    That said there's really no reason Ben's Q could n't' be referred to as Boothroyd at some point.

    No, I want to see Whishaw stay on board, first of all because he's good in the role (I felt he really grew into it in Spectre), and second, because like others have said, continuity between eras is important. I like Fiennes as well, though I must say lately I find myself missing the age difference between Bond and M (Bill Nighy would've been great in the role, either in the warmer Bernard Lee style or the more antagonistic Robert Brown style). That said, I do want Fiennes to go on. He's quite good. Harris doesn't work as Moneypenny. They could replace her as soon as possible, as far as I'm concerned, provided Whishaw and Fiennes stayed on board.

    I want them to stay, but I wouldn't be surprised if Craig leaving spurs them on to leave as well. They have their own big careers and they may want to go pursue other things as while they haven't been the characters in that many films, they've been in the Bond world for about eight years now.

    The chemistry between Ben Wishaw and Daniel is superb. It works so well adding some humour to the role and making it fresh at the same time. I also find the new M a great choice. I think he's perfectly cast for the role, but you can never beat Judy Dench.

    Fiennes, Whishaw and Harris are in place now so makes sense to keep them going forward, when a new Bond actor is in place the characters could easily be tweaked, Dench played two different M's.

    Harris might be too old by the time the next Bond actor comes around. The other two are fine. I feel it's time too introduce May to the film series.

    Yes, I hope he stays on. I think the role of M suits him well. The only risk is possibly Q, as I feel the chemistry might not work with the next actor, but hopefully it will. :)

    I think that with a new actor as James Bond starting from BOND 26, we should also have a new group of actors in the Mi6 team. A new M, Miss Moneypenny, Q and Tanner.

    I'm all for Whishaw staying around. He is not as young as people claim he looks. He'll be 40 next year, and the next James Bond will probably be around that age, maybe even less. The traditional Q (no matter if Whishaw's Q is supposed to be a reincarnation) was a Major. 40 years is not an unusual age (today maybe even too old) for being a Major. It's a rank below Commander, so it would also make sense if he were a bit younger than Bond. Peter Burton was 41 or so when he played Major Boothroyd ("Armourer") in Dr. No. Fleming himself describes Boothroyd as having about the same age as Bond (don't ask me where that was, I just seem to remember that). The only problem that anyone can have with Whishaw's perceived age is the Desmond effect, who hung around the franchise for so long that people took it for granted that Q was really a retired grandfather who stayed on with the service way past any reasonable retirement age for whatever reason (bitchy wife, annoying grandchildren, model railway at home broke down). But that's not the Fleming Q, and at least until, say, Moonraker that was also not the movie Q.

    And I don't want Nolan either. The most overrated director since James Cameron.

    Whishaw should play Q as long as possible like Desmond Lewellyn (also Ralph Fiennes as M and Naomie Harris as Miss Moneypenny should stay).

    Definitely in favor of all the current MI6 crew remaining as long as possible after Craig. They really did a great casting job with SF and got the positions right IMO.

    The only one I think NEEDS to change with each new Bond, is Moneypenny. I have grown fond of the current team, and hope that as many of them stick around for as long as possible.

    As for Q it depends on many factors surround the next film. If Bond 25 is DC's last film, how long before they make Bond 26 (seems weird writing that when we don't even know Bond 25's title yet haha) and most importantly how much a reboot they do.

    I personally hope so, I think Ben Wishaw has been one of the best things in the last 2 movies. His chemistry with Daniel is great, it gives me Sean and Desmond vibes

    Shouldn't we at least wait until after B25 to pass judgement on that? Same goes for Q and Moneypenny, imo.

    Sure, if Fiennes, Wishaw and Harris still get meaty roles when there's not much use for them, I'd suggest changing them out. Especially Fiennes, his pay check will not be cheap.

    But if they are used sparingly and more in line with other iterations in B25 (new director, new rules), shouldn't we reconsider?
