I have reached out to all the crew- and stunt members that I'm in contact with on Insta. Even senior crew members. They promised to pass it on to Cary, Babs & co
That's really thoughtful mate. Hopefully it makes the difference
I hope they allow it. Disney and Lucasfilm let terminally ill fans see Star Wars sequels before they passed. This should be no different.
They won't. The overarching feedback I've gotten from non-fans and casual viewers regarding Spectre was that it was incredibly forgettable and most of them didn't recall much of the film. For that reason I was put off by the decision to continue directly from Spectre as I don't think it'd bode well for general audience reception.
That said, I'd have to think Cary and the producers were aware of this (especially considering the gap between films) and probably have to re-establish a lot of what occurred in Spectre in NTTD.
One can hope.
I hope he gets to see it. I think Cubby probably would have arranged something for him back in the old days. Let's hope Barbara and Michael work something out.
Not much to reference
I have confidence that the filmmakers are smart enough to make NTTD stand on its own without relying on audiences remembering what happened in SP.
Maybe Blofield might call Bond brother when he goes to interrogate him, but personally I hope he doesn't. Let's keep that mistake in Spectre
Like @RichardTheBruce Madeline's story on the train, is likely to be played out in NTTD
I'm certain Cary and the writers will make the right choice, they must know it'll be nearly 6 years since the last film and it wasn't the best received either
If we get a 3rd trailer, maybe they could focus on Bond and Madeline's love story more and how its the "endgame" of this era of Bond?
I really do hope the rumors of a third NTTD trailer dropping this week are true, although to my furthest knowledge it was pure speculation based on the fact that there will be many big trailers dropped this week. In any case, anything new is welcomed!
On the topic of the possibility of a new NTTD trailer, does anyone with closer contacts here have any solid news about this?
Yeah I doubt they’ll expect people to remember any specific plot points.
There’s an evil organisation called Spectre, headed up by Blofeld. Madeline was sort of involved as a child but ended up escaping, and she eventually rode off into the sunset with Bond. That’s all that’ll carry over I reckon, and all of that should be fairly easy to re-establish early on. The PTS seems like it’ll do most of the work there.
I think they seem to have towed the line pretty well between making an “end of an era” sort of film that wraps everything up, and making something that feels fresh and new. It feels like they’ve used the previous films as a jumping off point into an exciting new story, rather than just continuing it in the way we’d have predicted. I thought for sure they’d just do an OHMSS/YOLT type thing, with Waltz as the main villain again, so the whole Saffin plot took me by surprise. And obviously none of us predicted the new 007.
I think it does seem like it’ll feel very different to the Mendes movies too, even if it continues on from them narratively. It felt like there was more action in the last trailer than the entirety of Spectre. And that’s the most important thing imo, giving it a different feel. Narrative stuff can easily be vaguely recapped if needed. As long as they don’t get too bogged down into the details it’ll be fine.
Cool thanks for the info mate
Cool. Booked to see F9 imax tomorrow so will keep an eye out. Currently on track for Sept release, which is good.
I am exited to hear the cast & crew and get a feel for the general sentiment around the film (I know press tours are mostly fluff, but still). Craig made a comment at the end of the EW cast interview that seemed almost a little lukewarm compared to how he spoke of the past few films post-production,
but nonetheless, any new NTTD content will be greatly welcome.
Yeah, the story obviously follows on, but I’m sure they will present everything we need to know in this one so you won’t need to have even seen SP. Viewers should be able to pick up that Bond has left the service to be with his new girlfriend and has a history with Blofeld, a baddie he put away; and that’s not too complicated.
Besides the MGM logo and the text, it looks identical to the old one to me.
