It seems Fast & Furious 9 are the biggest covid winners for now. It might even get to 700 million soon.

Yeah. Numbers like this, makes me think intensely about NTTD.

I remain unconvinced that either hybrid cinema/streaming, or premium streaming only, is financially sustainable. Not at the cost these films were to make. But I’m not a box office analyst, so hey ho.

Only anecdotally, my brother paid to see Free Guy at the cinema (as it wasnt available elsewhere) but pirated Black Widow, The Suicide Squad etc because there were perfect digital copies day one. Im sure he isnt the only one, and piracy on these films is significant.

Bond is a event. Bond has never failed at the box office. It has true fans and can draw in the general audience. It has a chance to succeed. People will not stay in forever.

It’s a gamble, but as for now as I said many times, I think Bond would be very lucky to hit the $450/500 million mark if it will stick to its current October release date. I don’t see how it’s gonna be sustainable for all the partners involved. They know better anyway, obviously, but if they won’t delay it means that they made peace with the fact that NTTD is a cursed lost cause and it’s better to just move on.

I'm convinced if NTTD stays it will overtake F9. Not only is Bond a huge event, but MGM and buzz won't shut up about how good it is. Which doesn't surprise me as Fukunaga rules and everything he touches is gold.

This is cool. Encouraging as it likely means that as of today 8.16, there is no delay planned.

Surely there has to come a point were Eon have to make a more detailed statement/press release, IF God forbid this film is delayed yet again.
You'd imagine they can't just put out that the film is delayed till *insert date here* again, it would be a terrible handling of the situation

I'm thinking a vague statement with no date. If it doesn't stick with the current date They'll pull it from the calendar entirely since $1Bn won't be possible for at least 1-2 years.

As I've said before, there will come a time when they have to move on and start Bond 26 and I'm sure it will be done on a much tighter budget. Especially if the Amazon deal does go though. If they do delay again, I'd love for them to at least release the album as a consolation prize.

In terms of analysis, it seems all the Safin shots are shots from Norway.

Expressionless, scary, serene, aggressive - all used to describe Safin.

    Exactly my thought.

Either they stick to the date, or they pull it off completley and wait til everything is back to normal worldwide. That could be next summer or even 2023.
But they will not make the mistake to announce a new date without knowing what state the business will be in then.

I think late 2022 or Spring/summer 2023 if they are insisting on $1Bn box office.

Last year they dropped a full 2 mins trailer and then after a couple of weeks another delay was announced. :(

At this point stuff like this means nothing to me…

Interesting how she pronounces Safin: I thought it was to rhyme with Taffin.

So far she is the only one associated with the production to pronounce it this way. Both Rami Malek and Léa Seydoux have said “Sah-fin” the way we know it to be pronounced in interviews and the film itself.

That's something that concerns me a bit. But we hope he's an original villain.

Yes, Sah-fin (Saaa-feen) it should be. That's how you pronounce that name.

Perhaps reading too much into it, but in French sa fin translates to:

    sa - it's / her / his
    fin - end

Hahaha, no way. Combine this with his first name (Lucifer). This will rule.
