Thank you @Contraband it means a lot. Yeah it’s mine but if you link it make sure it’s this link as any other one you find on YT is stolen:

Credit would be great! Simply credit me as Jake25edits on YT. Appreciate it

I don’t recommend anyone getting their hopes up for NTTD sticking to its current release date until at least a week prior to sitting in the theatre. A lot can happen in a month and it seems those involved are open to a staggered release as seen with the Australia postponement. Fingers crossed most markets are able to see the film in late September/early October as planned but many countries are discussing going into another fall lockdown so I fear putting ones hopes into this yet again might end up in a lot of disappointment.

Which countries are discussing another lockdown?

EDIT: Just to nitpick as an aside, I think it's strange when articles keep referring to Boyle's film as NTTD and count the original 2019 release date as NTTD original. I think it's pretty clear that Boyle's film would be completely different and that NTTD didn't come to exist until Cary stepped aboard. The only similarity between NTTD and Boyle's film were that they would be the 5th Craig film.

Yeah this idea of CJF — one of the most talented filmmakers today — as some fill-in is kinda bizarre. It became a completely different film!

I hope he is that, but he’s only made four films, and three of those aren’t massively well known (the other one isn’t out yet). I’m very much crossing my fingers that this is great though, don’t get me wrong.

The creepy vibes of true detective season 1 along with the awesome action scenes completely sold me on Fukunaga. He knows how to build suspense and tension and create atmosphere. I have very very high hopes for him.

I'm so obsessed with the first season of True Detective that that alone has me more optimistic for what to expect than I've been in almost a decade. I really hope he delivers with this.

If you haven't seen it, highly recommend his "Beasts of No Nation". It's about this child soldier in Africa, and his struggle to exist in this world surrounded by death.

It’s incredible. I hope some of the vibes from that first season are carried over into NTTD (particularly the villainous aspects of the show).

Yep, great stuff, but I was just being literal about the ‘filmmaker’ thing. He’s very talented but I’m not sure I could call him one of the most talented filmmakers working today just yet. I hope he will be though.

Footage from Safin’s raid at the cabin always gives me TD vibes for sure.

I saw it when it released, such a fantastic yet brutal film. I can't wait for it to finally get a blu-ray release via Criterion later this year.

I'd also highly recommend his Netflix miniseries Maniac, though it surely won't be everyone's cup of tea.

I come back to it again - both Maniac and True Detective have a truly breathtaking one shot sequence. Might we get something similar in NTTD? Fingers crossed.

Yes! Have my Criterion preordered, so excited it's getting a physical release. Is he the first Bond director to be in the Criterion collection?

Seconded your point on "Maniac", love that miniseries so much.

It's had the US release date 8 October posted for some time, simultaneously with the image reflecting April. My venue is Washington DC, not where I'd choose. But I'll abide.

We don't have Regal theaters here in AZ. The AMC theater chain had advertised they were doing the same thing, back in March 2020. I hope they plan to still do it.

Same here! I can't wait to see how great it looks, been itching for a physical release since I saw it on Netflix years and years ago.

As a matter of fact, I think he might be, unless I'm overlooking something obvious. That's pretty cool.

Yeah thing that sucks with streaming releases is it always is limited by bitrate, so quality is always less. I even imported a Blu Ray of "Sin nombre" so I wouldn't have to deal with that lol.

I’ve said all along that the release date is too late. Should be over summer.

We will be opening four threads just prior to the film release.

Two of these threads will be for the purpose of highlighting initial thoughts and impressions. One of these will include spoilers and one will be spoiler free. So please be respectful to members, especially our friends in Australia and New Zealand, who will be behind the pack.

The third thread will be for full movie reviews. The fourth will be solely to discuss the soundtrack. It's always good to give the music its own thread.

We will add them in the next few days, and open them at the end of September
