Hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday?
Excitement levels are over 9000!
It doesn’t really bother me; there’s no reason Bond has to keep it hidden. Look at the gunbarrel in CR: his assailant can see Bond has a gun, it’s the speed of the draw that’s important.
I’d say Goldeneye is probably the last one where everything is in the usual place, if we’re rejecting DAD for the bullet.
That's what we'll be hard at work doing over the next week or two. Of course, we have lives outside the forum, so we won't be able to catch every single spoiler the second it's shared by someone who doesn't use spoiler tags. If you want to remain completely spoiler free, you might be better off avoiding the appropriate threads until release.
Serra keeps going with the vamp rather than the core theme after the shot which is a technical conformance fail in this very important thing that matters.
Obviously CR is different but I thought part of the concept was that the assailant is tracking Bond who then gets the jump and shoots first.
But obviously this is a concept that has gone through so many iterations that unique elements are what make it such a curio (part of me wants to see another "presents" credit during the dots but I daresay that's about as likely as the hat coming back.
The vamp always plays after the shot in all of the trad versions, but he still plays the riff in the usual place after the shot. He just plays it on percussion rather than guitar; but then TLD doesn’t use guitar either.
All we know is that it’s someone pointing a gun at Bond- CR shows that it’s not necessary for the person to think Bond is unarmed in that situation.
I really dislike the OHMSS ‘presents’: it looks messy to my eye, as well as throwing off the timing of the music.
1st one is a short clip
Fair enough that TLD was the last classic gunbarrel (don't know enough about this apparently to really comment on that but I'll take your word for it). GoldenEye probably was my favourite gunbarrel (I so loved the animation added to the inside of the barrel, and there are also nostalgia reasons of course), until Casino Royale. These two films made changes to the traditional scene that were, IMO, 100% welcomed. Skyfall and QoS I don't care for as much as I don't like the gunbarrels themselves, and I don't like that they're both at the end of the films. Like they were trying to make the same point twice, he's Bond now! Oh wait, no, NOW he's Bond.
Agreed with @mtm, Craig's part in the Spectre gunbarrel was 100%, and the gunbarrel itself really is 99%-100% for me, I for one don't even mind the text afterwards, which I understand is blasphemy here. If they replicated the Spectre gunbarrel sans text, I'd be very happy. And I'm sure it'll be quite similar, but as I said before I imagine they'll do something different with the colouring. The gunbarrel itself looks a little off (smudgy, blurry or something in the upper left where the design becomes more iconic), so maybe they'll improve that. Either way, very excited.
Seydoux calling the love story the center of the film, hell yeah. Big fan of how much the press tour is emphasizing their relationship at the core of the film.
Hell yeah, so looking forward to her scenes (especially with Daniel) . she is such a terrific actress !
Aside from CR, which was a breath of fresh air and had killer barrel design, the Craig era has surprisingly whiffed on the gunbarrel. The placement of them aren't even the primary issue, to me.
QoS: I like that they were trying to add some realism and texture to the design but it was too dark too appreciate. The pose is alright, a little similar to Dalton, but the walk and blood drop were way too fast.
Skyfall: Design was meh, sort of strange carbon fibre looking texture. Walk is probably the best yet, the pose is a little stiff and the blood again was way too fast.
Spectre: Close but no cigar. Like that they brought back the traditional design, hate how static and cheap it looks. Probably his best pose and the walk was an appropriate pace but the swinging of the gun is a terrible look and takes away from the suddenness of the shot.
So room for improvement an all fronts fot NTTD. I think Fukunaga is a little too detail oriented for us to get gunbarrels like the past 3, but only time will tell.
- The love story
- Great action scenes
- Biological weapons with the villains
- OHMSS theme in the soundtrack
Also, a really cool and remote villains lair, and
Am currently watching the final preparations go on at the Albert Hall!
It’s been a long time coming but “this is it”!
I can see it already, Blofeld escapes just before midway in the film. We forgot about him entirely, and at the end when Bond and Maddy ride off into the sunset, BAM she gets shot OHMSS style the end!! Lol this would be really lazy writing
Which is why no way in hell it will happen.
Yes! This one has been around for a bit I believe.
New to me! Oof Bond better trigger discipline come on man!
Yeah. Me too. I'm seriously praying for it to be a critical hit, so it does well commercially. I'm slightly nervous, I must confess. I know it's looking good though. But I suppose my nervousness is present, because for the first time we know it's the Bond actor's final film and he won't be returning, so everything has to be impeccable. Hopefully, it will be.
When does the review embargo lift. 12.01 am Wednesday morning?
