Yes, I just posted this over on the Daily Mail.
Bond has left MI-6, if she has been assigned the agent number of 007 it's because it was available and was a spot that needed to be filled. The thing is, she may, for a time be 007 but she will never be, and never can be. James Bond
This is also a bit of toying with the PC crowd who have been calling for a female, and or black James Bond.
Or its because she's a competent agent so she was the best person for the job, and you could say that it's "toying with the PC crowd", but I don't think it is. It actually makes more sense because a James Bond film always has three Bond girls, so having one of the Bond girls be the new 007 just makes sense to me personally.
No need to be defensive, the fact that she’s a competent agent and qualified for the position is a given so there was no need to point that out.
The point is , while she may have the number, she is not the new James Bond.
You know the number
7777
I suppose my opinion of it (if even true) will come down to how it’s handled; primarily how long Bond goes without his 007 designation and whether or not he ends the film in possession of his rightful number. The initial unease I felt when first reading this has subsided a little thinking of how it could possibly be done in ways that might not reek of pandering.
And he may not; Bond’s entire involvement in this situation may be unofficial; he may never be reinstated.
I’ve calmed down a bit too, but I’m definitely very concerned. They better realize they’d be alienating their true fans if they don’t execute this right.
Of course that means keeping Craig to film the Gardner books.
“But Sir. Women belong in the kitchen. Not the field.”
😂
Do you think the producers would entertain the idea of a PTS with Lynch’s 007 over Bond?
Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming's James Bond 008: Relief Agent
This caught my attention even more:
"Daniel Craig’s desire to do all his own stunts on the new Bond film has been thwarted by injury.
Special-effects wizards have created a computer avatar of the 51-year-old star, which will enable his face to be digitally superimposed on to the body of his stunt double – Frenchman Jean-Charles Rousseau, 31.
A source said: ‘Daniel is in great shape but there are some scenes he can’t do because they are too physically challenging. "
Like driving a car?
It was very good and i thinking what a shame Naomi Harris is Moneypenny.
Some of develop of her chacter or from others you feel coming, but don',t mind.
First i found her chacter boring.
Very good bit of old Bond humor and sometimes serius of Luther. Dislike the moost balance between dialogue and action. Dialogue are to low and action to loud, hope there fix this. Sound like it is a easy series to follow, but no. So far i need second episode to get in it.
It doesn't explain that at all. Instead...
Ugh that sinking feeling is back again. If this is the case I’ll be most displeased.
100% agree. I'm personally not surprised by this news, it had already been hinted at, and it makes perfect sense that, with Bond inactive, 007 should be given to another Mi6 agent. How this will all dramatically (and playfully) unfold will be very interesting. And I like the journey, in CR Bond earns the 00 status and by Bond 25 he's lost it, but may strive to get it back.
+1. There's even a chance he won't (get it back).
In the books Bond has ever lost his status as 007? Seems not.
In YOLT, he gets the number 7777 instead.
Thanks. So 007 was never given to another agent, I suppose.
That happens all the time. Most of Bond scenes driving in Rome were filmed with stunt men.
Never given to, but in Forever And A Day Bond adopts 007 from a previous agent.
Bond is an agent who has been given the number 007. If Bond is no longer active as an agent, then it makes sense the number should be assigned to another new and active agent. The idea James Bond 007 is one and the same is really how it has been sold to the public in terms of marketing the character and the films, but within the logic and drama of the films, 007 is just a number assigned to an agent who has earned 00 status.
Something that, as someone said before, makes perfect sense. It's just a codename after all.
