This just makes me love the idea even more.

Why? Because it will be well executed? If so, I can understand.

But don't go around saying its because a woman thought about it and not a strong white male ;) lol, just messing with ya.

    :))

    Cheeky.

Your first sentence is spot on. I remember when Goldeneye was in production, even pre-production and the media had Bond written off, outdated, an anachronism. They were wrong.
They were wrong for B25 too.
The daily media scrutiny shows Bond is still relevant now and still 'sells copy'. EON will be delighted with the current and constant comment.

Eon can't win. If they do something new, you riot. If they don't, you still riot.

At least I'm gonna enjoy Bond 25 :D

What a stupid comment. First of all, there are multiple people, those who complain about wanting something new may not be the same who complain because they want the old things.
Secondly, saying that you want something new doesn't mean you'll accept even the s**tties stuff you'll be given. Just because I don't want the same old thing because I'm fed up of routine it doesn't mean I'll be fine with what I'll be given as long as it's new. Gee.

Are we going to end up with a series of 007 films and a separate series of Bond films after this?

I think what they could do is use it as a springboard for a spin-off film/s or - more likely/better - a TV/streaming series with Lynch as Nomi. Particularly after the inevitable reboot/new Bond that B26 will bring, they can still follow on with the Craig universe/timeline. Nomi carrying on the 'Bond legacy' so to say, a bit like John Blake/Robin in Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises (though Nolan didn't want this to be followed up on at all), is certainly a better starting point for a spin-off than Jinx.

I really think this is a good idea! I could imagine something on Netflix akin to a 'Bond movie' but long-form over 6 to 8 hours. You can even bring back Ralph Fiennes, Ben Whishaw, Naomie Harris in extended roles.

    This would be so cool!!!
Awful idea. The producers barely have the energy to trot out a new Bond film every 3-4 years. If they started wasting their time on a "Nomi as 007" series", gaps between Bond films would get even larger.
Rodrigo Perez: Phoebe Waller Bridge responsible for female '007'
    https://theplaylist.net/bond-25-lashana-lynch-new-007-20190714/
    giphy.gif

Perez is the guy who broke the scoop concerning Burns and Waltz. On the 'Words Are Not Enough' podcast back in April, Perez says very clearly that he knows the entire plot of Bond 25.

However in his recent article for The Playlist (linked), he seems surprised by the development and says that it was not a contribution made by Burns. therefore, insinuating that it was Phoebe Waller Bridge behind the decision.
Whaaat??? This is insanity! In this very thread we started talking about the possibility of a female 007 MONTHS before Waller Bridge was hired! Does she read this thread?

    I've got it!!
So Bond and Nomi are waiting outside M's office, the door opens. M says "come in 007" both proceed to the door, Bond looks at Nomi puzzled. Then Moneypenny explains the situation. Bond turns to see Nomi entering M's office with her back to the door. Then bang, she falls to the floor with a throwing knife lodged in her back, wounded. Bond casually strolls threw the door and coolly quips last rat standing

Okay so maybe this why you're a writer and I'm not @peter

"Hey, why not make 007 a black lady?"

An idea, I think, they might regret in years to come.

It certainly seems like another jump the shark moment, along with tidal surfing and invisible cars. I suppose, if they carry on for long enough, every era ends up pushing things too far, it was bound to happen again with Craig. Thats what happens when they don't get in proper writers to put together something decent, its really a shame after such a long wait. I only hope they can learn from the mistakes and go back to the more traditional mission based stories which the franchise was based on. We don't need any more exploring into Bonds character, or office politics at MI6. Just get him out in the field and focused on the task at hand. Its not difficult and I think audiences would cheer, while I doubt many will cheer the story they have of Bond taking a backseat, or competing for his own position. Its screams of forced personal drama to me, and I think we're mostly getting sick of that by now. Just my 2 cents.

I like the idea of a black woman being 'too far' :D

I kind of worry that some Bond fans don't realise we're supposed to laugh at Bond's attitudes to women :)

Rumour: Beyonce and Jay Z have met with Bond producers to do Bond 25 theme

Please please please please be true. This would be far too good.

I don't exactly have many of her albums(!) but she's the right sort of person to be doing a Bond theme, yeah. I'd be happy with that.

It doesn’t matter how well executed it might be. Word of mouth has already sunk the film.

Audiences don’t like this horseshit. They didn’t like it when Ghostbusters tried it, they didn’t like it when Oceans tried it, and they aren’t going to like it when Terminator tries it, which is why the director of Dark Fate is already starting the “men are threatened by this STRONK WOMYN LEAD” crap.

Even if this is just a stupid gimmick that Babs pulled out of her ass, you’ve sent a clear message to people; this film is unoriginal pandering. And like it or not, having a black actress in the role will sink the film in China even more. I hope Universal is ready to take a big write down on the film.

I'm unsure if the actress, Nicola Thorp, is working on Bond 25 or is a friend of Lynch's but she posted this on Twitter:

Nicola Thorp was on set at Pinewood Studios with Lashana in June 2019

This feels the closest to confirmation of the Daily Mail's story currently. I await what MI6-HQ and Rodrigo Perez have to say about this.

    @talos7 got you thinking though, haven't I...

Not one bit when it comes to those speculations. He’s a “ hire gun” no more, no less, not even a try believer as certain lady might say. His motivations are meaningless and trying to read something into his physical appearance is a personal exercise and has nothing to do with why the actor was actually cast.

What is interesting is M's comments regarding the attack being similar to "9/11". M implies that Le Chiffre conspired with al-Qaeda in orchestrating 9/11, or at least deliberately profiteering from the attacks by short selling large quantities of airline stocks beforehand.

I’d be enthused with Beyonce doing the song. She’s one of the only modern singers I’ve heard that I can think of that I can stand.

With all the drama going on, I’m hopeful EON is going to drop more official news soon. Could be wishful thinking but it seems as good a time as ever to drop more big info.

I feel we're due for a teaser poster or a first official still.

So Fukunaga as director, Jay Z and Beyonce as the intro singers, it seems they are Americanising Bond! EON was really shook by the US Spectre reception weren't they.

    That would be nice.

Also, going back to Nomi’s 007, I’m starting to believe she is going to get axed. Where has she been with all the recent London filming? I suspect there’s going to be a big noble sacrifice type scene where the main villain gets her, and Bond will become twice as driven.

Wowwwww this discussion page died and went somewhere I don't get anymore.

@Mendes4Lyfe Did you literally just compare having 007 be a black woman for ONE film to an invisible car tidal surfing?

You think someone riding a insanely giant wave is just as believable as having a black woman being 007? And for some reason you agree @007Blofeld
  • Posts: 727
No. He thinks it's less believable prolly.

I've always been in favour of Beyoncé performing the title song, but hasn't she been linked for almost every Bond movie since QoS? Knowles was first tipped to replace troubled Amy Winehouse but that didn't happen either. Anyway, this is an old story from August 2017 that's been regurgitated as a hot new scoop. See below for the original story...

I have been saying for years that Bond 25 will be a huge boxoffice dosappointment. Babs seems determined to prove me right. The marketing has already been messed up big time by that reveal and the multiple setbacks. But the really damaging thing is that they still don't have a title. Until a film has an official title it resides in nebulous production land for most people.

You're absolutely correct, the harder political correctness is forced on the public the more they tire from it. People vote with their wallets and thats why Ghostbusters: female edition was a massive flop, as will Dark Fate.

Let's just see what happens if this is false or something it could be fabricated article that someone wrote up to sell papers and is partially true the nomi will be a new agent and will play 009 and goes to Bond. And the whole female 007 thing was to sell papers.

I’d expect a contentious response to this news on Twitter but I’m honestly quite surprised to see so many people on these forums complaining about it.
I do sympathise with those of you who’s enthusiasm for the movie has waned, but just wait until the final product has arrived. Who knows you might be pleasantly surprised.
