The only thing people should complain is "Hmm..is Bond being retired a good plot? is this overdone? underdone?" etc
Complaining about a rumour which will eventually lead to some BS "007 goes on a mission dies in first 5 minutes forcing M to say "eh, this is the 10th 007 I've lost in the last year time to call back Bond" means you are getting played.
Hasn't he only had one 007 and that would be Bond.
I also want James Bond and Blofeld not to be brothers, does that mean that I am against brotherly love? Maybe I support China's one child policy because of that?
Jesus, I've read so many stupid comments on both side this day, and I really hope the people I've read were not actually "hardcore" fans but just some casual fans OR maybe not even fans, but people who came to push their politics (of both sides)
@dragonsky I just wish 007/James Bond wasn't in politics between conservatives and liberals at all and stay far away that's why its last so long it stayed neutral.
I've been thinking about the whole Madeleine flashback idea. Wouldn't Blofeld have been present during this sequence? He implies he was there during his introduction to Bond and Swann in SP. If that's the case, what happens to his character? Surely he can't be the man chasing Swann on the lake?
100% agreed
Btw on a movie related note...
After the debacle that is SPECTRE...and the fact that this is a continuation of the movie...
I have no idea how this movie can be a great Bond movie without distancing itself from that movie.
The fact that Swann is back, Bond is retired and Waltz will be part of it as Brother Blofeld..... yeah..
I hope this movie does it best to distsance from SPECTRE and the movie moves on to being it's own thing in the first 20 minutes.
No matter who's the next Bond I hope they at least try the "Moore route" and do more stand alone missions.
Sort of like Mission Impossible I guess.
And..I know it is too early for that but...who's with me for an old Bond?
I know they are trying it with Craig but I mean like..idk, proper old Bond. Actor who looks 55+. Mission heavy movie instead of an action heavy movie. Something like Goldfinger for example
@Minion can you give me oxygen tank I could use one.
No, in Forever and a Day Bond adopts 007 from a dead agent. I like to think FAAD and TM are quite canonical.
That isn't Fleming though that wrote that but I don't know I just hope it's all a rumor.
Like many here, I'm utterly bewildered by the backlash from some members who can't get to grips with Mi6 giving the 007 number to an active agent when Bond is inactive, and, it seems, when Bond 25 begins he has been retired for several years. It makes perfect sense for the 007 code to be passed on, and, in terms of the storytelling and characters, this move also offers so much playful drama, which is why I believe Craig wanted PWB to step in and bring more wit and a strong female voice to the screenplay. If the new agent was simply 008 or 009, then there would be no issue for Bond (or some of the members on this forum), but the fact that the agent has "his" number must prick Bond's ego, and that offers plenty of opportunities for drama (perhaps questions about how Bond perceives his own identity etc.) and humour for a writer like PWB.
All it is making Bond a side piece in his own film for a political movement.
Yes.
Nonsense.
Utterly nonsense.
And this is the ultimate proof that these strong negative opinions regarding Lynch taking the codename - without knowing nothing at all about how they will handle this twist and who will be 007 by the end of the film - are not just driven by preferences, like someone said it before, but by PREJUDICE.
There are no SJW asking for any of this. It’s all the media trying to trigger people like yourself so you click on their links and buy their output.
I’ve never even thought there is a timeline issue. They are just actors playing a part in a movie. Lots of other films have done a change of actor before Bond - Sherlock Holmes, Batman, Julius Caesar - all played by different actors at different times with no codename theory. In any case, Daniel Craig started a new timeline in Bond, so it does not run 1962 to 2020.
He never implied that in the meteorite scene. He just said he came to visit a colleague at his place. I don't see any correlation between this and all the "I hate guns" story. Blofeld never wanted Mr. White killed until Bond started to interfere with his business driving Blofeld's actions crazier than before, so approximately sometime in-between QoS and SP. It was never implied that Blofeld wanted White killed by the time Madeleine was a kid.
@ColonelSun your opinion.
So we are racist and sexist for having a different opinion interesting. You know Bond has always had strong women watch the climax of octopussy those women warriors kick butt pretty good or the karate girls in Golden Gun.
But widening the chasm between men and women isn´t going to empower either of them. What we need to empower women is to acknowledge the differences and work with one another. I don´t see this approach in anything concerning this female 007 rumours. Ok, so a female gets the 007 moniker, hurrah, what a Statement. But then she´ll get rid of it again, doesn´t she? So why is that? Is she after all a woman and not strong enough to carry that number, or what? I find it hard to see much sense here.
Prejudice can be driven my many things. Sometimes yes, can be driven by latent racism or sexism. But inhere the prejudice against this premise - a narrative twist completely new to the Bond world - is driven just by fear of change and mind-closeness. In the end the only thing that matters is the story. We just have to wait and see, but as Colonel said there's plenty of space for a lot of explosive narrative potential.
