:)) @ColonelSun, are you my separated at birth twin?
Or I'm your clone, perhaps ;)
Nice. :)
Yes. They really need a strong script to make such a concept work. Really. Especially since the Craig era has been very grounded so far, speaking about villainous masterplans. Dealing with clones of Bond's love interest is risky stuff as a concept, quite cheesy on paper. :(
BTW, for those who hope TPoaL being the title, prepare yourself... it won't be. And Woman Genoma or whatever is probably the worse title suggestion for a Bond movie I ever heard in the last 4 years.
This will be a growing challenge as the franchise moves into future, if it continues to be set in a contemporary setting and not a period piece. Cloning is very real with many prominent scientist believing that human cloning is within out reach.
Yes, handled poorly it could come off as silly; handled well it could very intriguing....and possibly horrifying.
Exactly.
Didn't you see Pet Sematary? ;-)
From my understanding, the technology is already there. Scientists can do it. Remember Dolly, the sheep. What is holding science back is the ethics of it.
The 1978 film The Boys from Brazil delved into cloning already and did indeed show the horrifying possibilities.
Absolutely...
That's the cartoon version, I believe Bond 25 is rooted in real science, not fantasy.
Of course, but for those two films, I couldn't help but think of Austin Powers. Anything involving clones will too.
Craig has approved of the script and story. He wouldn't be doing it if its as bad or silly as we're speculating.
Not if the science is real and 21st century. This is real science. This won't be the fantasy (cartoon) version of cloning, I am certain of that; this will be based in the reality and, therefore, it will be far more scary.
The point I was trying to make (even though it wasn't much of a point at all), is that the concept alone of using clones in one way or the other will make me think of Austin Powers. How it's presented in the film is insignificant.
Anyway, this cloning thing isn't confirmed yet.
There's a chance that 'Eclipse' was once the name of the piece of technology and it's now named 'Genoma'.
Personally, I think it's a little bit of a dodgy translation. @marketto007 himself has explained that he had to translate his source's words and I think the title may have got lost in that translation.
I do think that Eon will want a one-word title as Christopher Nolan and Denis Villenueve always have a preference for them and they like to keep up.
Also, according to source speaking to @marketto007 we might get the title at a press conference opposed to a trailer...
...I still think we will get it with a trailer, which is probably now coming mid/late August and be attached to 'It Chapter Two'.
Also.......Sting is talking about at 14:00 by Cary:
Scene in question:
EMBARASSING.
Intriguing.
Its not surprising that there is a focus on children in danger in this film. Fukunaga likes to explore trauma with children and use this as a way of increasing the stakes and meaning in his films. I am looking forward to it. Also as MI6 insiders have pointed out it is believed the car chase will involve the DB5 (modified with carbon fibre chassis and BMW engine) and not the Valhalla.
Sounds like a Fleming chapter title.
If Swann is involved in the cloning, could she have been wrong/lied about the man who came to their house? Could he have been their to take her?
Also, where is Mrs. White in all this? How long ago did she leave and why? Where is she now?
Time has come for a new Bond. Time has come for a new kind of mission.
I trust your source is legit on those production details, but can't say that I buy GENOME as the title. It's an interesting word, but too much in the same generic vein as ECLIPSE would have been, and we know now that was likely bunk as well.
And if Universal did indeed veto "A Reason to Die" at the last minute for not being "Bond" enough, as we've been told, I can't imagine them considering any of these alternates to be any better.
