Grave guess is Mathis for me..

    Maybe Mathis and vesper
Two things: 1. The location of Vesper's grave. Do we already know the reason Vesper was buried in Southern Italy? If not, I hope they will give as at least a superficial explanation.

    2. Bond's outfit in Matera. No matter how you spin it, it looks far less Bondian than Craig's outfits in the previous films. There has to be a reason why Bond is not dressed like Bond in these scenes, similar to how there was a reason for Bond's gangster outfit when he arrived in Rome in Spectre. Right? Or do you disagree?

I mean look at what some members wrote back in August when we still didn't know whether the guy in that outfit was Bond or not:

@Bounine wrote on August 22: "If this is supposed to be Bond, then they’ve messed this up. Bond doesn’t wear ties like this."

To which @Univex replied: "Of course it isn't. And of course they didn't."

Awwww, man, you went to all that trouble. Bless ya.

Still think it's an awful outfit because of the buttons on the shirt's collar and those shoes, tie and the three button corduroy jacket.

    But...

I love it without the jacket and the tie. With those suspenders, it looks great. Too bad he doesn't wear those cool sunglasses in those scenes. Although...why would he alternate between the vuarnet and those round tortoise sunglasses? Different shooting days? Heck, who knows?

Thing is, it all may have a particular context in the film.

And...Bond also wouldn't wear a cravat like Pierce did in GE. And it ended up looking good. So why don't we wait and see?

Grave guess is Mathis for me..

He dumped him in garbage and said he wouldn't have cared. I don't think Bond is going to travel to Italy to visit him after all these years. He's not mentioned him since 2008. Vesper reminders were as recent as the last film and both times involved Madeline Swann.

As much as he was a great character, the general audience won't remember Mathis but the vast majority will remember Vesper. Be a nice touch if his was there but the main one he is there to see will be her grave.

This may just be coincidence, but Bond’s suit resembles the one Mathis was wearing when he died.

I wouldn't give too much on this Report, as these Reporters have clearly no permission to be and film there. It's all hidden cam and paparazzi footage from far away.

The good thing about this for me is that my company has blocked a lot of your footage and you YouTube stuff so I can see comments but not actually see anything photo or film wise and I have resisted the temptation on my phone ,must be age and tolerance ,so I have decided to wait until the teaser trailer as I have missed so much ,I know quite a lot but nowhere near enough to affect my experience of what looks a brilliant Bond film developing, and Dan seems to be working his arse off to make so.
That is a good enough reason for me to let the team/crew/actors and everyone get on with it and wait for the teaser trailer..

They keep saying that Matera will be featured for 18 minutes and that Bond will drive his motorbike
into his hotel room window, I think

Read the novel "OHMSS". Vesper was British. Yet she apparently was buried at the cemetery of Royale-Les-Eaux in France. Bond visits Vesper's grave in France at the start of "OHMSS". Not very logical either that Ian Fleming chose this option. Do we worry sick about it? No. The end.

Think this is the moment when Bond rolls into Matera passing by bonfires and a procession at the square, maybe on his way to the fake hotel room or the grave. Short clip but says alot.

    It's more like:
coming and leaving from the underground of the cathedral and going up on the roof of the room (my Italian is not perfect but I've understood: "lui dovrà lasciare da sotto la cathedrale e di arrivare sul tetto della mia camera da letto (stanza) in moto").

I've heard about 18 minutes quoted by members of the production here. Also heard an estimated film run time of 2 hours and 10 minutes but a big grain of salt for both claims as no one could realistically know that at this stage.

The script supervisors time (with precision) every scene, first, before production begins, from the shooting script, and then every scene as they are shot, and the timings are logged for the production office and the editing team etc. etc.. The timings are normally very accurate because the script supervisors are very experienced and know what they are doing when they calculate the actual length the scene will play once edited together. Scenes and individual shots can obviously be tightened or cut out completing in the editing process, but a calculation that the Matera scene will run to 18 mins is obviously what has been worked out. And a 2 hour 10 running time would also be based on the initial script timings and then everything that has been shot up until now.

Whilst, Daniel Craig, Lea Seydoux and Dali Bensallah are in Matera.......

.......Lashana Lynch is in Soho in central London:

I know that location filming is very expensive and crews don't want to spend any more time than strictly necessary over there. For those reasons, do we know if Eon will schedule to film this weekend? I'm aware that as lot of the car chase was actually filmed on the weekends.

Will DC and co be out this weekend?

That's an estimate. Could be 16 minutes or 21 minutes. Sometimes the editor working with the director either tightens things or expands them, and there's always several cuts of the movie before ending up with the final cut. A clip where Bond walks from point A to B can be 10 seconds at first, but 25 seconds in the final cut, if they want it to fit with the score for example.

Reports keep saying that Craig and the main unit will film for one/two days in the Tirrenian coast locations (Arcomagno/Maratea) September 23/24.

Check my post just a few back, I explain how the script supervisor times everything so they have a very good idea how long scenes etc. will last, and this is all logged in the daily progress report for the production.

So last week Sunday was their day off. This weekend, it seems no filming today but the cast will be filming here tomorrow.

Si informano i gentili visitatori che nelle giornate 11, 12 e 15 Settembre la Storica Casa Grotta di Vico Solitario sarà chiusa al pubblico per esigenze cinematografiche. “No time to Die” James Bond .

The other day I thought it was inside the caves itself but it is the steps that we saw this past week and also on the other side where the stone church is. They had a bonfire lit outside early yesterday morning shooting a small procession walking in.

    It's Vesper.

This is the best guess, given the OHMSS novel, her CR death country (albeit on the other side of Italy), and the mentions of her in SP.

Craig's Bond era will begin and end with Vesper. How could it not?

  • edited September 2019 Posts: 6,709
She was referenced in QOS by photo and narrative, in SP by Blofeld and on that interrogation tape. Was she mentioned in any capacity in SF? Don't think so. But Vesper was present throughout the Craig era.

Not in SF but video tape in SP too.

Yep, remembered that just now. He threw it away though. And now he's reminiscing? How fickle-minded our Bond is ;)

May, of course, make some other sense, narrative wise.

Vesper wasn't mentioned by name in SF, but the thought is Bond referenced her when he said to Severine, "I know when a woman is afraid and pretending not to be."

Or at least, I always took that as a nod to his experience with Vesper.

She's referenced in a similar way also in SP, when Lucia says that she can't trust nobody and Bond replies "I know the feeling well".

NTTD will come full circle from CR. Fukunaga stated it. CR is Fukunaga's favorite Bond. It's Vesper.

The grave has photos of a man on it though. So not vesper.

Also it’s Easter during the Italy scenes so Bond’s outfit fits the Easter vibe. Not a fan of it though.

Maybe they're after some clue that leads them to Matera. Maybe while there, Bond has to make due with some clothes he finds. Who knows at this point? It's so wonderful to be in the dark regarding this. Good job EON. Hope the trailer doesn't ruin much, though. Frankly, I'm gagging for it.

If that was a two button jacket and that shirt had no tie, I'd love the outfit with suspenders and all.

If it Vesper, it'll be interesting to know how she fits in the narrative.
