@Walecs even though that's not what they are doing. I actually really didn't care about the whole Moneypenny has a boyfriend reveal in SPECTRE but it is what it is.
There's only one way they can do such a scene…
Workout scene
Walking out of the ocean/sea/pool/shower scene
Bond looking physically hurt and showing pain/discomfort scene (realistically done)
Aston Martin scene
Spectacular scenery scene(s)
Alcohol being imbibed scenes
Chase scene (foot)
Chase scene (car)
Moneypenny repartee scene
Q repartee, exasperation, grudgingly okay scene
Felix (yay!!!!!) repartee with Bond in any kind of scene (so welcome)

That line struck me as well. Was there any other news of explosions in Jamaica other than the one on the ship? I am surprised the house they built survived the shoot. Would have bet this would be destroyed.
Bond 25 title reveal
I didn't care for Moneypenny's boyfriend either, but it made sense in the story. It was to make the viewer think about Bond being completely lonely because of the life he's leading, and then at the end of the movie Bond leaves MI6 to be with Madeleine.
Remember how in GE, MP explained to Bond that she went on a date with a "gentleman"; they went to the theatre together. She's not going to "pine" away over Bond. She ignored or countered several of his quips in TND and TWINE as well, although her jealousy towards the "good doctor" in TWINE and her VR adventure in DAD seemed to suggest that she still wanted him, badly, after all. Nevertheless, Samantha's MP upset some people at the time and yet she was nothing out of the ordinary.
Naomie's MP is another one of the few side-effects of "these modern times" we have to give the Bond films without too much complaining. It's not like we have lost something major or paid a heavy price to the PC era, simply because this MP won't allow herself to romantically wither while Bond beds women he barely knows. Ultra-conservative Bond fans would apparently prefer another case from the Maxwell playbook, a nice little lady who has lost every ounce of spunk because she keeps chasing this romantic ghost, but we must ask ourselves if we could still enjoy that character in the 21st century. We have typically come to think of women who make it too darn easy for men, as tragic simpletons who mightn't even be able to handle a serious relationship, who would suffer from jealous outbursts every day and cry each time a voice is slightly raised. Surely that's an obnoxiously old and utterly unattractive stereotype we had to move away from fast -- and did! Above all else, we must ask ourselves: would a man like James Bond truly enjoy a numbingly docile secretary? Granted, Fleming made Goodnight almost that, but I still think he gave her some sexual prowess in TMWTGG that the cinematic MP of old lacked.
Lest we forget, the '67 CR spoof already delivered a MP--granted, the "real" MP's daughter--who was a sexually more than liberated girl (or rather, the 60s version of that), willing to put out if the job demanded such a thing. I personally like to think of Barbara Bouchet's MP as one of the good parts of CR67, but I digress. ;-) My point is that a MP who doesn't exclusively reserve herself for James Bond is nothing particularly new.
I'm fine with a MP who maintains a playful interaction with Bond but gets on with her life at the same time. Naomie can have a boyfriend as far as I'm concerned because evidently she and Bond will never hook up. What we get instead is some enjoyable fire in a different department. For example, their conversations are energetic and spirited, and I enjoy MP's eloquence and overall wits. I buy her as someone playing a crucial role in the higher bureaucratic echelons of MI6--rather her than a mousy or submissive gal. Lastly, Naomie Harris is an incredibly talented actress who can handle 'tough' and 'determined' with great ease, something we've been aware of since 28 Days Later. Furthermore, she's a fabulously beautiful woman who's ageing exceptionally well, and I hope she can move on to the next Bond actor. I'd hate to lose her. Playing to her many talents and natural gifts is a smart move. That they gave her fieldwork in SF and SP makes every bit of sense. Talk about "miscasting" if they hadn't. Naomie's MP is loyal and reliable, clever and not afraid of negotiating hard traffic situations or pulling a gun on someone. But she's not a patient part of the furniture after working hours, hoping that Bond will barge in like a sexy pirate with long hair and an unbuttoned shirt. She's an "updated" MP but in my opinion certainly not another case of "feminazi" mandates--whatever that idiotic term means. People getting worked up over this MP like it's some kind of #MeToo curse come to life, are pushing the argument beyond reasonable levels. Let the girl live an independent life. She may yet prove very useful to Bond because of her professional qualities and they can say things between the lines that might never result in some serious "doing it" but are in perfect keeping with Fleming's proposed distance between the two of them. After all, Fleming described MP as desirable but never suggested too much flirtation beyond that.
Cmon guys, lets say it, medical details none withstanding, lets all be fan boys and shout:
"Tom Cruise heat your heart out!! Daniel Craig's the man!!"
Seriously, some appreciation for the guy. Cmon. All who hailed Cruse's commitment to the role (yours truly included), give a shout for Craig. Sure, he's five years younger, but the guy's surely in the same league. For the history books: two 20th/21st century actors who commit physically to a role and pay with their bodies.
That being said. Wish that meant new pics coming our way, but it will surely be all indoors or in closed sets, right?
