Oh yes, even to his haters, this must be the one absolute, right @Shardlake.

Physically, Craig prepared like no other Bond; he needed and wanted the transformation.

I remember there were many members on this forum making fun of his disheveled look shortly after his daughter was born. They were doubting he could get in shape for the next Bond film.

    But he did. In spades.

He definitely got buff, but is that really in keeping with the character? I'm more impressed by the actors who sat down and read all of the books and thought about who Bond really is. Newsflash: It's not a guy obsessed with the gym.

Plus, it's kind of ridiculous that Craig even went to the trouble of pumping all that iron only to have his head pasted onto a stuntman's body during the action scenes.

Goldfinger wouldn't be stopped if Bond didn't convince (or force :) ) Pussy to come on his side. I certainly wouldn't call that 'barely involved'.
Yeah, Bond was definitely all in.

    B-)

Thats an overgeneralization. Craig was involved in a ton of the action scenes. Bautista broke his bones.

@Escalus5 ... I could be a dick but will restrain myself. I do know that Craig did a shit load of research and went out to shoot guns with professionals. I do know he met with SAS. I do know that he worked with trainers who designed programs for him that modern military people would have to endure. And I do know he read Fleming.

Now, doubt me all you want, but I have brought info to this site that no one could have known prior to me revealing it. It’s documented.

Like @ColonelSun , I do know people who are very close to these productions. I don’t say this as someone flaunting bull-poop, but as someone who is saying that you know nothing about these productions other than what you have read in The Daily Mail

I would, that’s the only effective thing he does in the entire movie.

Actors prepare in any ways for a role. They, generally, want to find ways to get deep inside the character so that when they perform in character it feels like second nature - natural and unforced. Physicality is often a big part of that. Whether it is a matter of getting fitter or, like in the case of De Niro in Raging Bull, becoming fighting fit and then transforming into a man out-of-shape and past his prime - all in the same film. Craig reasoned that a modern Bond would have to be very physically strong and supremely capable, and in making this choice, Craig transformed his own body and his image which gave him the outer shell - the armour - which he needed for his interpretation of the character. I personally love Craig's version of a 21st Century Bond.

Craigs antics in the gym was needed to mask the fact that he lacked anything in the way of a conventional attractiveness or natural charisma.

Yeah, he’s been winging it for 14 years. Somebody should’ve told the general public.

I suspect a lot of people will disagree with you. Sure, Craig doesn't have the conventional "handsome" features, but he has a very strong look, and he oozes cool charisma and screen presence (those ice blue eyes pierce from the screen) - and, as Bond, he makes us believe this is a man not to mess with. Only Connery - and, to a fair degree, Lazenby have truly exuded that killer quality before Craig. BB knew all this as soon as she saw Craig in Layer Cake.

I've always thought all the Bonds, including Craig look like John McLusky's James Bond.....there are features on this face that connects all the Bonds.

I see Secret Sofa (the lockdown version of Secret Cinema) are doing Casino Royale this weekend.

Let's look on the positive side.

If NTTD had been released on Feb. 14, some of us may have gotten the virus from several trips to the cinema! So, thank you, Cary, for that delay, in retrospect.

@antovolk Aaah.. Thanks man. Still, it's not the first place that comes in mind when you (as in me) think of official channels.

I hope Wishaw and Fiennes continue on to the next Bond; they really have potential as Q and M.

I agree, it would be interesting to named them Major Boothroyd and Sir Miles, to help difference the two.

With all the delays, all the changes that are about to happen in the industry, and EON's slow pace lately, I wouldn't be surprised if we don't get Bond 26 till 2025. Or 2026.
