I know the whole “Bond goes from rookie to aging spy in 6 years“ argument gets a lot of traction among the Skyfall haters. To be honest, I always took his Skyfall MI6 physical testing/screening failure - along with the “you’ve lost a step” quip - as:
    - Suffering a major gunshot wound
    - Disappearing for months, drinking on the beach

I take it as he’s just injured and out of shape instead of just plain old. This could happen to any agent of any age.

We also have to keep a couple of other things in mind:

    1. He wasn't exactly spring chicken when he became a 00 in the first place.
    2. The life expectancy of most 00s is very short (as Bond admits in CR). They apparently don't live long enough to have the existential crisis Bond faces in SF.

Terrific new interview with Lashana Lynch talking NTTD and also some pretty staggering new photos. I like her, I hope she kills it in NTTD. I also think there won't be many people who disagree with her comments in the video:

It is not SF haters but SF dislikers, people sadly let down by Mendes/Craig vision. The movie and Craig has his moments but is overal unbalanced. Less be said about SP.

On several occasions I’ve said that age should have never been made an issue, only disillusionment and injuries would have served the plot and not , somewhat, painted themselves into a corner concerning an old Bond.

He was also portrayed as old. That gray, scruffy beard was there for a reason. Moneypenny called him an "old dog, (with) new tricks".

I agree completely. @Milovy made a version of SF on fanedit.org (under the name 'Problem Eliminator', if you're curious) that removes the references to Bond being old, and the film is all the better for it.

I’ve no idea how they expect the film industry to function in anyway for years. The amount of close contact needed on a set makes social distancing absolutely impossible - hair, make up, costume etc. Not to mention principle actors. How would you ever film the spectre pre titles now?

And then do you get everyone of the cast and crew to sign insurance waivers that the film company cannot be held responsible for contracting and potentially dying from Covid due to working conditions?

I do like her photoshoots, she looks supercool and sharp every time. These photos could be a bit better though.

“Old dog” for a double-oh agent, yes. It’s almost like the NFL. Football players start getting classified as “old” once they hit their early to mid 30s.

I'm just glad they filmed NTTD before all this. Think it may well be a long time before Bond 26, Eon seem to have a take each film at a time approach, don't think they'll be thinking about Bond 26 until NTTD finally gets released.

Exactly. So, still old by his profession.

I'd like to hope that they're using this time to at least get some ideas down, as selfish as that may come off as. I've read several tidbits from screenwriters about how their productivity during quarantine has increased, so it would be wonderful if Purvis and Wade were thinking about where to take the series next.

Of course, nothing much more than that will happen for at least a year...but the blind optimist in me would love B26 in 2024/2025!

Yes. As long it’s not the James Bond series. I don’t want them anywhere near Bond in the future.

I wouldn't be surprised if they gave PWB a solo shot at writing the screenplay next time around. And she's pretty prolific, so...

Has anyone searched for B26 Ltd. lately?

That’s what we thought about John Logan and SP originally. Purvis and Wade are just hacks that just keep getting lucky.

I just quickly searched on the UK Companies House website, but no B26 yet. I doubt they’re kicking off the next film this quickly.

Have we heard this podcast of Chris Corbould talking about his career and NTTD. also, the interview pretty much confirms that Christopher Nolan is a big Bond nerd...

That’s very evident from his films.

Thanks I enjoyed that. I've not seen one where a reporter gets to drive the stunt 'DB5' replica before.

I think Bond 26 might be Pinewood-Heavy, even if the pandemic isn't around(hopefully) anymore by then. Maybe Bond 27 would get back to the real-life globe-trotting.

I was under the impression Disney had purchased Pinewood for the next several years and Eon was getting the boot.

Yeah, true....I heard that before the pandemic, but maybe they could work something out or EON finds somewhere new.

Maybe Eon could return to Leavesden or find another factory that could be converted to a film studio?
Either way, B26 could be years from now. Disney's contract should be expired by then.

    Yeah, it's possible.
