From the James Bond Archive (NTTD Edition):
    The Title:

Barbara Broccoli: We were struggling to find a title. We wanted a title that wouldn't give away anything but would be understandable, and after you see the movie, have a deeper resonance because that's often what Fleming titles are all about. I came up with this brainwave - thinking I was terribly clever. Of course, when we did the search, I realized I hadn't made it up, but had already seen it. No Time To Die was the UK title of one of Cubby's films, Tank Force (1958). The connection to Cubby made me love the title even more. So I'm not clever, it's him.

That's very interesting: I don't think a producer has said they came up with a title before, have they?

Possibly. I wonder who came up with the original "A Reason To Die" title

Was that established to be more than a rumour though? There are always lots of titles flying about and I don't believe they're official until someone from the productions says they were. People were calling it Shatterhand for a while as well, but I tend to think that was probably just Chinese whispers.

Several films had alternate titles before the final one was settled on. SF for instance started out as ONCE UPON A SPY, then it was changed to NOTHING IS FOREVER, before someone decided on Skyfall. Not sure who came up with what between the screenwriters, director and producers.

If I recall the story correctly from the Taschen book, SKYFALL was a name Logan came up with for Bond’s family mansion and P&W thought it would’ve worked as the title of the film as well.

    Aha; could be, yes.

What is the name of Taschen book again? I think I missed the title.

The JB Archives, the one that is getting a new edition complete with NTTD in November.

Thank you! Trying to preorder it now!

In Some Kind of Hero (which is a phenomenal book every Bond fan should own), Rob Wade says firsthand that he and Neal came up with Skyfall at the 11th hour before one of the MGM script deadlines, when the team had finally landed on a third act but they didn't have a name for the house just yet. So it was in the mix before Logan joined them. I don't have my copy handy, but I believe it was Rob specifically who thought of it.

"Once Upon a Spy" was the title of the Peter Morgan treatment, which was never quite a script. "Nothing is Forever" was a Neal and Rob title as well, for an earlier draft of what would eventually become Skyfall.

A Reason to Die for Bond 25 was much more than a rumor. I believe the MI6 site itself confirmed it was the title right up until the initial kickoff press conference, with a graphical treatment prepared and everything, until it was shelved at the last minute in the hopes of landing on something a bit stronger. Which, I think, they did -- though A Reason to Die would be pretty great, too (if a bit too similar to the Jack White/Alicia Keyes song.)

Interesting. It worked out for the better.

Was Genoma of a Woman ever actually associated with NTTD or was that just a rampant rumor gone wild? If it was just a rumor, it means there may be a ton of NTTD plot assumptions that are wrong based on the gene thing...

Ah okay, interesting stuff. I’m still going to take it with a little pinch of salt (why did that one leak but NTTD didn’t I wonder?) but it sounds more likely than the others. I can well believe they wanted to announce a title at Goldeneye but couldn’t agree on one.

Voila. Now we just need to find a paper copy or a pdf. The guy who posted on his insta wrote this.

Issue 22 of the @omega Lifestyle magazine is dedicated to the new James Bond film, 'No Time To Die'. The latest edition of the superb 'tome' focuses on 'the writer, the filmmakers, the actors, the secret agent and...his watches.' It also contains a number of interesting articles and doesn't forget to include some great shots of Ian Fleming and his Jamaican home, 'Goldeneye'.

Nice, I'm sure that'll be quite the collector's piece. I don't think it's easy to come by as Omega like to be all exclusive.

Yes, I used to have those (The one for the Moon Speedmaster and such). But now there's no more OMEGA store in my town, so I'd have to do a covid test and catch a plane to get one. So...many thanks, my friend, for your awesome efforts, as usual.

honestly i kinda want to see what they wrote about Nomi. I'm still very ambivalent to the character but i want to know more, especially since she is slated to be a big part of the final fight.

MATER SPY sounds like a Dario Argento movie.

That is a lot of fun. There are some very skilful scene matching and editing. I know this isn't the thread, but it's a shame PB didn't get his more down to earth FYEO after the fantastical style of DAD (which I hated). I saw TWINE the other day and I always felt in the right hands with a better script, that film had such potential. Oh well, such is life...

I think in the end the Brosnan movies were done just to make money and bring the franchise back to life after the 6 year gap. They never had any intention to give him a FYEO like film. TWINE was the closest.

If I recall correctly someone from Italy said they had been working on the filming in Matera and they heard that Genoma of a Woman was going to be the title and Sting would do the theme song. But I'm pretty certain that the gene thing rumors predate the "Genoma of a Woman" title.

:) There you go guys, I'll upload a couple of pictures from the first 3 chapters NTTD related.

NTT is described as "a tale of loyalty and love. It is a reconciliation of the many storylines of the DC 007 tenure, a celebration of legend and life".

Speaking about Swann: "The complexity of Madeleine's relationship with her parents is revealed. "We get to understand what she's been through to understand more about her, let's say, issues," says Seydoux. Audiences also learn about her connection to the villain Safin. "Safin's backstory is tied to Madeleine's," says Fukunaga, "and there's a mirror between him and Bond. Here is somebody who sees himself not as a villain in her life, but as a hero.

Regarding our creepy Lyutsifer, here's a an interesting bit: "He's a product of an innocence that was lost very early in his life, and so he has difficulty in justifying what is right and wrong.".

Well it was a cool coincidence, I planned to go for the watch today but I didn't know about the magazine before yesterday!

That's interesting, regarding Nomi: "[...] She begins to feel compassion for Bond and soon makes a personal sacrifice on his behalf. "As the story develops she starts to care about him. You just see the compassion seeping from her."

Wow. Compassion for what?! A personal sacrifice on his behalf?
