I always found Arnold a bit like Brosnan. A bit of a tribute act. I loved the SF soundtrack but Spectre was way too similar. I’d like some of the more jazzy elements of the older scores brought back - Miami Beach / Try. The bond theme at the early part of OHmSs also has a real swagger.

    Get the snare brushes out.

People are talking about Arnold AGAIN?? The guy not only hasn't done a Bond score in 11 years, he is a has been. Next!

We love David Arnold. So does Barbara Broccoli! He is the best. Next!
Feel free to love him but Arnold hasn't scored a Bond film in 11 years. It's time to stop wishing he returned.

Who the hell cares if he hasn't composed a Bond film in 11 years? He's still a working composer and able to do the job.

    Insulting, irrelevant nonsense.
His two scores for the Craig era were among his best and added tremendously to both films ; his absence has been sorely missed. Having him return for Craig’s curtain call absolutely makes sense, particularly in that 25 is said to bring the events of CR full circle.

He has been where? "Has-been" needs a hyphen.

He has been busy organising this big concert with Michael Giacchino, the Academy Award-winning composer of other big franchise films. Should be a great gig. They're both conducting their great music over the last few years in a neat little play on the "rap battle".

    Not bad for a has-been.

He also has been making guest appearances at some 'Casino Royale with orchestra' screenings, so I actually don't think BB or MGW have forgotten him. He's still active within the Bond family.

But as I said: it does not guarantee that they will call upon him again. However, I reject the notion that EON doesn't want him anymore. The guy's been promoting Bond everywhere!

He once described it as like being part of a family. Once you're in, you're in.

His Good Omens soundtrack has earned him the best reviews of his career, and that's considering he's always been a bit of a darling amongst film score critics.

And no, much like you, I don't think it's a given that he will be called upon again. However, as long as whoever does get called (it could very well be Dan Romer) does it justice and gives us a full-blown, lush and romantic score with use of the title theme and some kick-ass action motifs, I'll be happy. Arnold can certainly do that. But so could someone else.

It's very much a win-win for me. If Arnold returns, then great. If not, I'll be equally excited to hear what the next guy comes up with.

They certainly haven't forgotten about him, seeing as they've been attending some of them in support -- which I can verify firsthand.

I don't normally let my hopes get too far up about such things anymore, but I've got a good feeling about this one.

And if it wasn't for Mendes/the Olympics - presumably he would scored the last two.

It's highly likely the CR and QOS scores will go down as the best of the Craig era. Says it all really on the composer front.

It was Barry himself I think that recommended Arnold to EON. I don't think Arnold is a genius but I don't hear anyone else doing work as good as what he delivered on those first 2 Craig films.

I would have rather had Bond only drive the Vantage with no DB5 nor this new one which has a style that I feel, doesn’t represent Bond’s character. If there is a car chase with more modern cars, even a reference could be made that the Vantage has had a modern engine added.

Agreed. Although Arnold improved with CR and QOS, he certainly sounded like a tribute act not unlike Brosnan and his Bond films prior to the Craig era.

During the Mendes era I personally felt that Craig's Bond slipped back into that tribute act territory. What had started off as fresh and forward looking became nostalgic and introspective. I have always felt Skyfall and Spectre with the DB5, volcano lair and constant self-conscious references to the past took us back a step, going over old tired ground that had already been well covered by Brosnan. Even the plots were a rehash - SF in many ways being a remake of TWINE. It's one of the main reasons I just don't particularly like the Mendes era.

OK everyone - can we come back to talking about Bond 25 filming please?
I very much enjoyed Skyfall (Spectre was a notable disappointment) but the one thing I didn’t like about the former were the gadgets in the DB5 and the dialogue referencing the ejector seat. Completely unnecessary.

Casino Royale is still my favourite Craig Bond film; I wonder if the new picture will supersede it... It would be great but it’s hard to believe. The fairly faithful Fleming adaptations have always been the best.

Hey Londoners, any idea if B25 will have some filming in a public spot this week? Just arrived in the city for the Secret Cinema gig on Thursday.

Wow! That looks phenomenal! I love the soundtrack choice, so great for Bond to be leaning in with the culture of the location. I adore it! That shot of Craig strutting by the camera at the end is great!

I already want to kiss Fukunaga and I haven't even seen the film :D

This also seems to look and feel like a follow-up to Casino Royale.

Just the tone and respect for the local culture.
