Knew it would happen. Now I can say that even if it got released this year, I still wouldn't go and see it. And no, this isn't being salty, I wouldn't even go to see TLD on the big screen. This hasn't exactly been the best year of my life, and going to the cinema to see any film, is low on my list of priorities. So i'm not upset by this news.

    Well said @MajorDSmythe

    Thank you. :)

Out of curiosity, do we know how much has been spend on advertising so far?

Even if it's around $30 million (and that's just pure speculation) it's considerably less than any potential lost revenue from a diminished box office.

Anyone seriously thinking that this will come out April 2021? Unless there's a vaccine, it will get postponed again.... and again. And they will end up spending as much on marketing as producing the movie itself.

Well, we all expected it didn't we? All the advertisers must have known already and now they dump all their NTTD ads. The poor advertising budget! Should have went with Nov 2021 not April, nothing will be better. Vaccines won't be ready.

Not everyone, considering some of these reactions. It was pretty obvious months ago that this film was not going to release in November. My newfound optimism with the latest marketing was obviously an error.

Because you think It Will be bigger in April then to release on VOD today?

    Really?

Where do these figures for advertising come from. Sticking a trailer on YouTube and insta and watching it take hold doesn’t cost that much. There been no tv spots or paid advertising has there?

That was always going to be a gamble, I can't believe they even considered releasing it this year. Then again, I suppose it is easy for me to say, when I am not in that possition.

No because I don't have a crystal ball. Neither do you. Neither do EON/MGM/Universal. And that's the point. Nobody knows what it's going to be like in 6 months time or 12 months or 2 years from now.

At this point i will just continue to distance myself from the Bond franchise, like i have since March. No joy to be found here anymore.

Well EON better be planning on the next Bond films at least. Without Purvis and Wade, please, and a more planned schedule and overlapping storyline, if they plan to do one. Sorry for my country’s government’s mess-ups folks! I didn’t vote for any of them.

Ah well, there we go; it’s no-one’s fault, just the way it is. A Bond movie is a big thing: you can’t do zero promo for it and you also can’t guarantee the future will be what you hoped when you started the promo.
Looking forward to seeing it (and the third round of posters!) then.

I am confident there will be a vaccine by then. I am not confident that even half the world population will have access to it by then. And this makes me more confident that people will confuse "vaccine" with "treatment" and we'll see more irresponsible behavior than ever.

I have been doing my damn best to stay optimistic, allowing myself to get excited about this film - despite numerous reservations in the build-up that were eased by the trailers - so this is extremely deflating.

After all the intense debating that has been going on here about theatrical vs streaming, with EoN then doubling down for November and seemingly going hell for leather with videos, stills, posters, the new podcast and finally Zimmer's gunbarrel cue, it feels like the rug has been pulled.

I understand they cannot control Covid and I've always been a vocal supporter of them in everything they do even if they fail, but this is bad form.

I'll be restraining my excitement going forward, which is a shame.

Four Mission Impossible movies between 2015 and 2022. Two Bond movies. At best.

I must say I hadn’t quite even decided yet if I felt okay with going to see it, so I hadn’t reached super excitement levels just yet. I reckon I probably would have gone, but I guess if old dyed-in-the-wool fans like me weren’t 100% sure they’d even go and see it, it’s a sound decision on their part.

At this point I’m even more concerned about when/if the next film will be. The last time there was a 6 year gap, Goldeneye had to save the series, and I doubt NTTD has that level of quality (just my general experience with the Craig films after CR). Then they’ll have to find a new actor, find a distributor again because this situation with Universal/Annapurna/MGM is a one film deal, and come up with a story. We might be ringing in a happy new year 2030 before we see Bond 26.

It’s going to be a long time before we see NTTD with this recent delay. I do not foresee April being any better. They will simply keep on delaying the movie until this pandemic is over.

I'm not surprised by this decision. Here in the UK, the second wave is getting worse by the day so its common sense to push the films release to next year. I'm sure we're all a bit gutted again but having waited 5 years already, another 6 months isn't much of an issue.

On a personal note, I get to see NTTD on my birthday after all. If just 1 year late :-bd

Yeah, this is the only positive outcome, this year's birthday was pretty bad for me (though not as bad as the three birthdays before that), so next year I'll have a great birthday watching Bond at the movie theatre.

I don't have too much against the decision itself - as a business decision it is what it is and that's that - but I am a bit disheartened with the way this latest delay has been handled. Whatever about the trailer a month ago - all the stuff this week should not have been released if there was even the slightest doubt. This wasn't decided on a whim.

I would have been someone who continuously argued against anyone who claimed they were 'owed' anything by EoN. I'll be more understanding of that from here on, even if I still don't feel that way myself.

Plenty of films have also been delayed to 2021.

No Time to Die isn't a special case. All films are suffering.

And even with all this I don't miss Danny Boyle :)

Better to announce it as soon as possible after they’ve made the decision though, surely? And as, up until the moment they’d made that decision they had a film coming out in November, they had to be promoting that film.

Because they've been hoping for the best but also planning for the worst. I'm sure they've taken a day by day approach and have now decided to act that on the balance of probabilities, November I'd just not feasible anymore.
