It's basically a better version of WOTW

It’s interesting that you say this, my daughters reaction to the song was , “ this is what Sam Smith was trying to do. “

I think it is closer to what Radiohead was trying to do, heavy on keyboards.

Man, I don’t hear that at all.

Zimmer scored the film, but not the trailer.

It's not Zimmer. The Blue Monday remix was done by Sebastian Böhm.

I stand corrected, I saw excerpts from the movie and score where this was incorperated and it is used in the score so attributted to him.
In my humble opinion far superior to what we have from Billy E and more along the lines of what I and may of us were hoping for.

    Lyrics:
    I should've known,
    I'd leave alone,
    Just goes to show,
That the blood you bleed is just the blood you own.

    We were a pair,
    But I saw you there,
    Too much to bear,
You were my life but life is far away from fair.

Was I stupid to love you? Was I reckless to help?
What is obvious to everybody else?

But I've fallen for a lie,
You and I were on my side,
Fool me once, fool me twice,
    How you dare the paradise,
Now you'll never see me cry,
There's just no time to die.

    I let it burn,
    You're no longer my concern,
    Faces from my past return,
    Another lesson to learn,

But I've fallen for a lie,
You and I were on my side,
Fool me once, fool me twice,
    How you dare the paradise,
Now you'll never see me cry,
There's just no time to die.

    No time to die.

    No time to die.

Fool me once, fool me twice,
    Higher than the paradise,
Now you'll never see me cry,
There's just no time to die.

    Thanks @AgentJamesBond007

This is just from listening to it, and the "Higher than the paradise" line is definitely wrong (probably a "Him" or a "You" in there somewhere...) but I can't hack it.

    I should have known
    I'd leave alone
    Just goes to show
    That the blood you bleed
Is just the blood you owe
    We were a pair
    But I saw you there
    Too much to bear
You were my life, but life is far away from fair
Was I stupid to love you?
    Was I reckless to help?
Was it obvious to everybody else?

That I'd fallen for a lie
You were never on my side
Fool me once, fool me twice
    Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die

    I let it burn
    You're no longer my concern
    Faces from my past return
    Another lesson yet to learn

That I'd fallen for a lie
You were never on my side
Fool me once, fool me twice
    Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die

    No time to die
    No time to die

Fool me once, fool me twice
    Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die
  • I love this song! It doesn't try too hard to be a Bond song.

Great, powerful lyrics. Has plenty of meaning surely relating to the film..

    [Verse 1]
    I should have known
    I'd leave alone
    Just goes to show
    That the blood you bleed
Is just the blood you owe
    We were a pair
    But I saw you there
    Too much to bear
You were my life, but life is far away from fair
Was I stupid to love you?
    Was I reckless to help?
Was it obvious to everybody else?

    [Chorus]
That I'd fallen for a lie
You were never on my side
Fool me once, fool me twice
    Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die

    [Verse 2]
    I let it burn
    You're no longer my concern
    Faces from my past return
    Another lesson yet to learn

    [Chorus]
That I'd fallen for a lie
You were never on my side
Fool me once, fool me twice
    Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die

    [Refrain]
    No time to die
    No time to die

    [Outro]
Fool me once, fool me twice
    Are you death or paradise?
Now you'll never see me cry
There's just no time to die

I love this song! It doesn't try too hard to be a Bond song.

I like how you can hear some Bond esque tunes in the background in some parts of the song.... Then there is that familiar Bond twang at the end as well.
  • This song will definitely get better once we see the film. Finally put some context to some of the lyrics. Slowly starting to come round to it.

Eilish is huge right now, and this is undoubtedly some of her best work,

It's like how Quantum of Solace had that "Dead Don't Care About Vengeance" guitar theme which had hints of the 007 theme. Also, the theme song for that film had some cues from Casino Royal's You Know My Name etc...

It's quite good. My initial impression is that it's on the safe and traditional Bond side considering her work. Without having established any emotional ties to the film, I'd put it at a comfortable third for the Craig era (behind CR/SF, ahead of SP/QOS).

The lyrics are the strongest aspect. Really resonate and feel like they have some meaning unlike Don Black's lyrics

For no-english-born : what "Are you death or paradise?" mean?

I would have understand if there was a "in" inside like "Are you death or in paradise?", but without it I don't understand the phrase at all...
