    1 Rock climbing
    2 That s detente
    3 PTS
4 A drive in the country
    5 Monastery fight
  • Compared with Moonraker's decidedly non-Fleming approach, the return to source with "For Your Eyes Only," "Risico," and part of Live and Let Die receiving faithful yet naturally integrated adaptations is a definite highlight here. But it's the 80s-on-overdrive moments I think I enjoy most about FYEO these days, helped in no small way by Conti's colorful and energetic soundtrack: the triumphant exuberance of the ski chase, the funky cowbell- and synthesizer-fueled escape from the pool party, the groovy take on the James Bond theme as the mini-sub descends toward the wreck.

    1. Ski jump and chase
    2. Pool party and Citroën escape
    3. Raid on warehouse and Locque over cliff
    4. Bond and Melina investigating sunken ship
    5. Keel-hauling

Other highlights: the rock-climbing stunts, a drink with Columbo, and battling dune buggies on the beach

Quite right! I love 80's atmosphere and this one does not disappoint.

    1) Keel Hauling Bond and Melina
    2) Chasing Locque on foot, and death over cliff
    3) PTS
    4) Casino Scene
    5) First meet with Colombo!

What I learned so far: Thundy is a fan of the beginning and the finale of FYEO.
Locque's demise and the first meeting with Columbo are often mentioned favourites and there is much love for the climbing, too.

Also the car chase and the keelhauling are often mentioned. And there is more appreciation for the underwater sequence than I expected . But I have to admit that Conti's Bond theme during the submarine scene is a great variation and one of my favourite bits of the score. Good point @Some_Kind_Of_Hero.

    1. Cortina d'Ampezzo ski chase
    2. A drive in the country (car chase)
    3. Bobsled run scene
    4. Musical score during underwater sequence (and in many other scenes)
    5. Finale

Is it voting time. OK, here goes:

    1. Max the Parrot has a chat with Mrs T
    2. Max the Parrot reveals the location of the ATAC thus saving the entire mission from complete failure
    3. Max the Parrot evades an assassination attempt on his life, his dad is not so lucky
    4. Max the Parrot asks Bond for a kiss but doesn't get one
    5. Max the Parrot eats a nut

I've been patiently waiting for someone to mention Max's valuable and unique contribution to the film, but it seems everyone is being too polite and letting some of the lesser known moments get a chance to shine. I can completely understand that. After all, no-one likes to see Max take all Top 5 spots.

Given that Max is rumoured to be in the running to pick up a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Academy this year, I shall revise my voting as follows:

    1. Rock climb to monastery
    2. Bond finishes Locque
    3. 2CV car chase
    4. Ski-chase, especially from the Olympic Ski Jump onwards
    5. PTS, especially the moment of Bond visiting Tracy's grave

    1. Climbing (We never had a Roger scene with more tension.)
    2. Ski chase (great stunts and very entertaining)
    3. Car chase (Bond's friendly smile, the gadget-free car which has to be used after the destruction of the more obvious choice, car action that feels real combined with some funny moments AND I especially love it because I visited most of these locations in Corfu.
    4. Bond meets Columbo on the ship (How is it possible to dislike that guy? He is one of the greatest allies)
    5. Bye bye Locque

Somehow, I thought @Max_The_Parrot would like FYEO! :)) And I’m fine with that, because this is also one of my favorites. Sure the “stainless steel” quip and the Margaret Thatcher thingy are a bit much, but on balance I really like the film and Moore’s performance. In fact, I find it to be his most assured. And of course, I absolutely adore Carole Bouquet. :-c

As for my top five (5) moments.
    1. Bond kicks Locque’s car off the cliff (“…no head for heights…”). Perfect scene, perfect delivery by Moore.
    2. The PTS – especially Bond visiting Tracy’s grave. But don’t overlook Moore’s dialog here as it is appropriately “world weary” IMO.
    3. First meeting with Colombo. Topol shines here….and yes I also love pistachios.
    4. Rock climbing final plus the destruction of the ATAC (“…I don’t have it, you don’t have it…”)
    5. Ski jump and chase.

Even the score for FYEO works for me. I used to hate Bill Conti’s score, but even it has grown on me in recent years. As has Sheena Easton’s delivery of the title song.

    First Bond film I saw.

    1. PTS: grave site visit interrupted by Univex chopper
    2. Bond snooping around Gonzales' Spanish villa
    3. Ski chase: I prefer part 1 with Bond being sniped by Eric in the forest & motorbike machine guns
    4. Bond meets Columbo: "You have guts." *takes PPK* "So have you."
    5. Rock climbing with a shoelace

I also really like the underwater ATAC retrieval and following JIM monster/Mantis sub action.

Am not one of SPECTREs critics. I like it a lot.
Again the PTS, except for the collapsing building, the funeral scene, MONICA!!, meeting with Mr White, the Snow Chase (yes, I love it!) Bond and Madeleine at L'American, the train fight, Bond and Madeleine waiting at the station and the Rolls Royce appearing, the Meteor room, parts of the torture scene! Its after this it collapses!!

Yes, I used your second list for the results @Mathis1. I didn't expect that you would like SP that much. I prefer MONICA in her scene(s) after the funeral.

Day of The Death (PTS til window escape)
Window escape (PTS til Helicopter fight). Couch was funny, but the rest.
    Helicopter fight (Rest of PTS)
    L'American
Meeting. Big fan of the silence.
    Car Chase
Moneypenny at Bond home Part 1. My favorite part is ghost house behind the window and ghost on painting.
Message from the grave (Bond showing Dench M video) aka Moneypenny at Bond home Part 2.
    Mr White
Lucia go outside to take a breath and Bond saves her. Great Cinematography.
    Q and Toilet drink
    Q escape
    Train dinner
    Train fight
Madeline and Bond waiting on car
Villian lair intro (Meeting Henchman, ''Hotel''room, Skyfall painting)
    Oberhouser Video Showing Mr White
    Back of Mi6
    Goodbye Mi6
    M's moment with C
Bond and Madeline in Aston Martin

Hell above Berlin and Octopus takes the gun in the maintitle . Overall it is bit short and repeat a lot of things who be done better in QOS or SF maintitle.

SP would never crack my top 10, but I do enjoy a lot of it. Dont think it deserves the flak it gets!
And I prefer Monica Anytime!! 😁

1, The 'single' (cough) tracking shot, right up until Bond shoots at the window, very cool. (Bores me a bit after that TBH)
2, The train fight with Mr Hinx. Very brutal and so well choreographed.
3, Bond's meeting with M and C at the beginning of the film.
    4, The first Q scene.
5, Bond easily dealing with the security guards at the Hoffler clinic.
6, Ejector seat and parachute landing (Ejector seat, you're joking. No I'm not!)
7, Bond waiting in the safe house.
8, The meteor scene. (Love Bond's delivery of "it did stop though didn't it, right here")
9, My favourite last- Bond shooting the guards behind Lucia. The music, angled reveal and subtle gun noise is great.

I like your choices, except for number 3. I do find that opening scene awkward, and I dont like Craig here, there's something off about his performance (Not to mention Ralph Fiennes teeth, which are very distracting!)

SP is my least favourite entry, but I do find a few things to enjoy about it.

    - PTS yet again
    - Q scene
    - Roman funeral
    - Lucia preparing to die and getting saved at the last moment
    - car chase (not the best in the series, but the location does make it worthwhile)
    - Mr White conversation
    - Tangier hotel, with the Vesper tape
    - train fight

The office scene isn't a favourite for me, neither is the meteor scene. The safe house scene is alright but your other six moments are probably my top six moments. You definitely picked the three scenes where I laughed loud in the cinema. Almost all scenes with Q are very amusing (I love this guy; I couldn't think of a more fitting replacement for the wonderful Desmond). And the “stay“ moment at the clinic and the parachute landing are cool and funny at the same time. I missed this kind of humour in the second half of the movie.

I did warm to Ben Wishaws Q in SP more than I did in SF! I thought he was quite dull in SF (So I suppose he fitted in well with the movie!!)

The first meeting between Bond and Q is wonderful in SF (imo). I'm really looking forward to see Wishaw's Q back in NTTD. There is a great bond between the two.

Have to disagree re SF. I found Wishaws line delivery very flat and dull.

-The long opening shot-- wonderful, mood-setting stuff.
-Bond falls on the couch with the handle in his hand.
-Bond gets in the chopper and kicks everybody else out of the chopper.
-The plummeting helicopter avoids the ground by a hair.
-The song begins several seconds before the title sequence.
-"I think I'll call you C... C." Tension between Bond and C right off the bat.
-In Q's lab, Tanner smiles for a second, then goes back to serious and dull.
    -"Life insurance."
-"Can't you see I'm grieving?"...... "No", delivered with perfect sarcasm.
-Bond waves at the henchman in the funeral.
-Lucia walks through her home, then we realize she's going to die, then she gets saved by Bond and asked to join him inside the house.
-Mention of Felix Leiter, great even if we don't see him.
    -"Io sono Topolino"......"Scuse".
-"Don't let me interrupt you." You can smell the fear in the room. Love how Blofeld gets his assistant's attention just by leaning his head in his direction.
-"Welcome, James. What took you so long?"
-Opera car driver and the airbag gag.
    -Bond gets ejected.
    -Garbageman gag.
-Bond reunites with Mr. White-- top notch scene. "So long."
-"Oh, it's not the sort of thing that looks good on a form."
-"Do me a favor, will you? Throw that down the toilet (yuck face) Cut out the middleman."
    -"No, stay."
-Bond and Hinx recognize each other during the plane/car chase.
-Bond's subtly puzzled and indignant reaction when Madeleine tells him to get away from her.
    -Drunk Madeleine.
-Interrogating the mouse. Nothing like a good "breather" moment like this in a thriller.
-Discovering there is a secret room.
-Bond fights Hinx, then chooses to run for his life.
-"What do we do now?" A risky gag to pull off successfully, but the film gets away with it!
    -Knitted tie.
-Rolls Royce in the middle of the desert. "I'm scared, James." Hand-holding.
    -"Maybe later."
-"Except it did stop... right here."
-"And I thought you came here to die." Love the stares between Bond and Blofeld. "Well, it's all matter of perspective." "Speaking of perspective..." (hand gesture as Blofeld keeps his cool after his exchange with Bond)
-Room with many people working for the bad guy, how I'd missed you.
-Torture scene. "Just another passing face on your way to the grave."
-Escape scene. So, okay, Bond's quick recovery is unlikely, and the scene would've been better had it not been so brief, but it's still so cool to see Bond shoot his way out of the lair with ruthless efficiency and briskness.
    -"Careless."
-Throwing the gun away on the bridge. Great little bit of acting.
-"There's just one thing I need." Q nods with approval, Bond theme in the background.

A few of my Favourite Moments from Spectre

    * The introduction of Hinx
    * The Train fight sequence
    * Bond's look, dropping the smiles from Q and Tanners face, over his DB5 joke
    * Blofeld torturing Bond
    * Lucia walking through her villa, surrounded by assassins, who Bond kills, before
    asking for a drink.
  • Most of my favorite moments from Spectre are still those that made the biggest impression during that first viewing in theaters. The torture scene for instance. At once evoking both Colonel Sun and Nobody Lives For Ever and presenting a stark, gleaming white contrast to the rest of the film's predominantly shadowy lighting, the cephalic torture by computerized drill was a refreshing stroke of originality in a film that was for the most part perhaps played a bit too safe. Also nodding toward the literary side of things, it's cool to see M dining out alone late in the evening, enjoying what I'd like to think was marrowbone in some upscale place where he's a regular much like Blades. The London safe house meeting (big fan of the "Hildebrand Rarity" reference, however small) was another bit of originality I rather liked, and Bond's sudden and surprising goodbye with Madeleine, perfectly scored by Newman with melancholy piano, is perhaps the most authentic and most moving moment between the two. I wish the emotional impact of that briefest of scenes might have unfolded over a good half hour or more, but it's one of the film's bright points nevertheless.

Speaking of Madeleine, all the business surrounding L'Americain, from Bond drunkenly questioning the mouse stealthing across the floor in the night to Madeleine drunkenly rolling about and teasing Bond through the bed curtains ("Two Jameses, lucky me") to Bond's discovery of the Vesper interrogation tapes—well, this was all done on a level worthy of any of Skyfall or Casino Royale's stronger scenes. That melancholy piano melody, my absolute favorite of Newman's new ideas here, surprisingly brings as much if not more emotional potency to Bond's handling of the VHS tape as would have a reprise of Arnold's "Vesper" theme. In fact, I'd originally considered this piano motif a theme for Madeleine, but now think it more likely represents Bond's grief and anger over Vesper and his difficulty in moving on romantically.

There are many other moments where music and visuals combine to awesome results: Luccia strolling through her house to Vivaldi and on out to the terrace where her executioners await; the long percussion-fueled Day of the Dead opening tracking shot, even if assembled in post; the explosive transition from the ferociously brutal battle with Hinx, itself a marvelously choreographed highlight, to Bond and Madeleine tearing one another of their clothes to a rousing concert hall rendition of "The Writing's On the Wall." As you say @mattjoes, "a risky gag to pull off successfully, but the film gets away with it!" if only just. I'd equate this one to Ethan Hunt catching the edge of a cliff in mid-fall with three chalked-up fingers. ;) And that other earlier transition from PTS to titles, with Bond flying toward the sun and the song's opening chords bursting through, is one more magnificent combination of music and visuals.

Some other miscellaneous moments I rather like include seeing Bond's apartment and showing Moneypenny the recording from M (as you put it, @M_Balje, a chilling "message from the grave"), some of the banter between Bond and Q (such as the quip about Q's cats, the quip about returning the Aston Martin in one piece, not bringing back one piece, and Bond asking Q to make him disappear), Bond being offered the prolytic digestive enzyme shake in lieu of his desired vodka martini, telling the disarmed security guard "No—stay," the bizarre sight of actively watered lawns in the middle of a desert, and Blofeld explaining the origin of the meteorite.

    Wow, that's a loooong list @mattjoes.
A lot you mention are definitely scenes I like. Is it a top 5 movie for you?

The torture scene was mentioned a few times now. I believe that many dislike it because the subsequent action/shooting doesn't make sense at all after the painful brain damage. This is also the reason why I wouldn't put the torture in my top 5 list. The torture itself is very intense and works fine for me.

Great thoughts and suggestions of strong scenes where the (unusual) music increases the quality of a scene @Some_Kind_Of_Hero . The Vivaldi moment is splendid and I'm also a fan of the moment where the music kicks in after Bond is rammed through a door by Hinx. I remember the first time I saw the train fight and susuddenly the dramatic music starts. I was like “Oh, Bond has no chance against him, Hinx will smash Bond into pieces.“ I absolutely love the train fight!
