Two scenes that I really love, and also consider amongst the finest moments in the series, are regretfully not included:

    - Tracy killed and Bond left in tears (OHMSS)
    - The tanker truck finale (LTK)

That being said, that's a fabulous collection @goldenswissroyale!

    Here are my favourites:

    1. Defection/sniper scene (TLD)
    2. PTS (GE)
    3. Ski chase at night (OHMSS)
    4. Confrontation with Grant, and fight on the train (FRWL)
    5. 009-clown hunted and killed (OP)
  • This wasn't easy (and might have turned out differently any other day) but from that list:

    1. TWINE PTS, Part 1
    2. TWINE PTS, Part 2
    3. GE PTS
    4. Night at the Opera
    5. Vespers on plane with Mathis
    6. Build-up to Piz Gloria attack
    7. GF PTS
    8. SF PTS
    9. Defection/sniper scene
    10. SPECTRE meeting
    11. Bond in Shanghai
    12. Dr. Kaufman

Interesting diversity for the final rankings so far. Nice to see others voting for the GE PTS. I absolutely love this sequence and it is a main reason why I was so thrilled and fascinated by Bond films since I was a boy.

Ranking all these wonderful moments is difficult. I especially miss the torture scene and the shower scene from CR. They would both be part of my top 20 list. The wavekrest action and tanker chase in LTK would also be strong contenders for my top 20 list.

    1. LALD: Boat chase
    2. CR: Crane action/parkour chase
    3. GE: PTS
    4. OHMSS: Ski chase at night
    5. FYEO: Rock climbing
    6. TLD: PTS
    7. TSWLM: PTS Ski jump
    8. GF: Golf match
    9. FRWL: Confrontation with Grant and fight on the train
    10. DN: Dinner with Dr. No

    11. LALD: Crocodile farm
    12. OP: Sotheby's auction
    13. SP: Train fight
    14. GE: Tank chase
    15. TND: Dr. Kaufman
    16. TSWLM: Lotus action

With all scenes allowed, my (quite controversial, I guess) Top 12 would be:

    1. AVTAK - Silver mine & Golden Gate finale
    2. MR - Space finale
    3. DAF - Oil rig & Satellite finale
    4. GE - Satellite station finale
    5. TMWTGG - Bond Island/power plant finale

    6. LALD - Boat chase
    7. LALD - Bus & plane chase (especially because of the score)
    8. MR - Rio de Janeiro cable car
    9. TLD - Russian airbase & Lockheed finale
    10. TLD - Aston Martin chase
    11. FYEO - A drive in the country
    12. FYEO - Cortina ski chase

@marc Your list defnitely includes some unexpected scenes. The oil rig finale ranked as number 3 is obviously controversial ;)

A tough little exercise – done over Saturday evening take-out!

I attempted to construct the list as a mix of iconic scenes (general public) and personal favorites. Of course, if it were up to me, any scene involving Diana Rigg as Tracy would be among my top five, and the Bond Introduction as #1, is a no-brainer.
    1. DN Bond introduction in the Casino
    2. GF PTS
    3. TSWLM PTS ski jump
    4. FRWL (Confrontation with Grant) and fight on the train
    5. OHMSS Ski chase at night
    6. TB SPECTRE meeting
    7. FYEO Locque's demise
    8. CR PTS
    9. DN Dinner with Dr
    10. LALD Crocodile farm
    11. TSWLM Lotus action
    12. YOLT Kobe docks (with the rooftop shot)
    13. OHMSS Build-up to Piz Gloria attack
    14. MR The centrifuge
    15. TLD Defection/sniper scene
    16. GE PTS
    17. SF PTS (especially the train action/"bloody shot")
    18. DAF Two Blofelds with two cats
    19. TLD Night at the casino (problem eliminator, abseiling...)
    20. DAD Hong Kong hotel
Now don’t make me do such a listing for my favorite Beatle songs, because if you do………….

I like the diversity of your list @Dwayne. I realise that I should have also added the SPECTRE meeting in TB to my list. Not in my top 10 but easily a top 20 spot.
I'm surprised that you are the first with Bond's introduction (DN) in their top 5 list. I always thought this would be the definition of the best Bond moment.

Any last contributors before this thread will end?

    "Nothing so melodramatic." 🙂
Yes, I really like the High-Tech (or AV-TAK) finales.

Only eight members tried to narrow it down to a final list and from their lists only two scenes were mentioned more than twice in the top 5. Therefore, the two winners are listed only for fun.

The "best (EON) Bond moment of all time" is:
    OHMSS: Ski chase at night
    followed by
    GE: PTS

I had a great time hosting this thread. I want to thank everyone who participated in this thread. So many interesting comments, some unexpected winners and the best thing: There hasn't been a single member that tried to bash a movie. It was wonderful to read all these positive comments and to share our enthusiasm with this amazing series.

    Thank you all!

    Great winner.
  • Vesper to the James Bond film series: "I just want you to know that if all that was left of you was your OHMSS ski chase at night and your GE PTS, you'd still be more of a film series than any other I've ever seen."

A worthy winner and runner-up. Great action and atmosphere. I don't think the ski chase would be as high on the list if set during the day.

    Interesting thought. :-?
It would still be a fantastic scene but the atmosphere of the night probably helps.

Generally, I like the night time scenes better. Pretty lights; Bond in stealth mode etc.

I started this thread more than a year ago with the idea to celebrate your favourite moments of each film. We went through all 24 EON films and I think now is the right time to add NTTD to this thread.

Allow me to repeat what I wrote on page 1:

Part 1 = Suggestions and Discussion; Part 2 = Ranking
Part 1: We discuss for a few days which moments or scenes you think are among the best of a specific movie. You suggest a few moments you love the most and you can try to convince the others why a certain scene deserves to be called (one of) the best. You can mention only one scene or also a lot of different moments/scenes you love.
Write about the scenes you like and not about the ones you dislike. This should be a celebration of our beloved spy movies.
Don't write already a final list of your favourite moments. This is done in the second part.
    Part 2: Ranking. List your five favourite moments (1., 2., 3., 4., 5.)

Favourite Bond Moments - Round 26: NTTD- Part 1: Suggestions and discussion

I expect there will be many mentions of specific PTS moments and of Paloma...but I'm sure that there are a lot of other moments that deserve a mention.

Let's celebrate the best of NTTD:)

Wow @goldenswissroyale ... There are a lot of scenes I love in this film... Starting with:

The short horror film that opened NTTD; the romance between Bond and Madeleine (a character I thought could never recover from the previous movie); the beauty that popped from the screen in Matera; the visit to Vesper, and the set-up of Madeleine's betrayal; the chase through the streets of Matera (it put to bed the car sequence in SP), and finally, the end of a relationship on a train's platform...

There's the incredible time spent in Jamaica... I love to be with the solitary Bond as he sails, snoops around his home, showers... Craig says nothing in these scenes but depicts a damaged, jaded and lonely soul, and now his antenna is definitely standing on end; the re-introduction to Felix and his blond date...; How Bond gets the "next round" but only gets himself a scotch; I love how he turns-down Felix's offer to pull off a job; the tiny scene of watching Bond finishing the last bits of street-food... Meeting the "diver" Nomi who likes "old wrecks"....

I can go on and on and on and on.... But will pause here....

@peter This means you love the whole PTS and the whole Jamaica sequence. ;) I feel the same, especially the PTS is one highlight after the other for me.

Interesting that you even mention the moment where we see Bond finishing some food before (trying) to start his car. I also like this moment. We don't see Bond eating very often. I mean, he has several discussions at dinner tables but we don't see him eat often.

I would have loved to see more of Jamaica and of his house. The moment where Bond is tailed by Felix while Bond is driving into the city isn't a "special" scene but somehow stands out for me as an exotic and classic moment. (Like the similarity to Dr. No). I also like the score ("Someone was here").

    Agreed @goldenswissroyale … I love how Cary and Linus shot a lot of Bond’s drive through his side mirror. They even made what should be a “filler” scene look super cool (as a Bond film should be);

And I have a feeling that Cary knew that Jamaica and Cuba would be quite special and he took the approach of keeping them short and sweet so the audience would want more. There’s a technique in screenwriting that basically states: start late/end early. This means: start every scene as late as you can (without losing information for the audience), and leave the scene as early as possible (you keep the scene lean, entertaining and move that story along, and; leave the audience wanting more)… I think Cart left us with out tongues hanging and wanting more. He’s quite a crafty storyteller!

Universal twist. One of reasens why i hoped on them and that it be in black & white made it even better. Reference to Goldeneye. My favorite labatory with Valdo. Valdo remember a lot to Boris.
    Shapes scene/Blofeld at phone.
Let us believe Ash be the father /He be Madeline bodyguard, a nice note to Twine.

Ash, the father? Never heard of this before (?)

Any other favourite moments? Does someone also love stuff from Poison Island or are the highlights situated in the first half?

There is much to adore for me in all parts of the movie:)

There is some good stuff from the poison island too. Bond kissing his family off before going to save the world one last time, the stairwell shootout, the scene where he breaks Safin's arm before discovering his fate and accepting like a true hero. The death itself is also a highly memorable scene, controversial as it may be.

Some great lists. I watched it again recently and I realized that I loved the forest action even more than before.
One of my favourite moments is on the bridge in Norway when the two Land Rovers reappear and the chase kicks in. It is the perfect shot for the beginning if the chase.
