With thanks to @SIS_HQ, Ian Fleming's maxim for life no.13:

    Live Until You're Dead

That recalls You Only Live Until You Die which I think was a Bond spoof novel or film title.

Yeah it's a bit too trite and sounds a touch 'live, laugh, love', but the Fleming connection makes it interesting.

It's certainly a decent sounding title and coming from Fleming helps to give it the royal seal of approval, as it were. I think it's increasingly hard, some 70 years on from the beginnings of Bond, to come up with a really original title that hasn't been used by a Bond spoof or other spy novel or film.

This thread has come up with some good ones so far. Some of my favourites are (apologies as I don't remember who came up with them):
    With One Eye Open
    When All Else Fails
    Ask Questions Later
    I Only Need It All
    Forever Hold Your Peace
    Next To Nothing
    Nothing Else Matters
    Every Second Counts
    Everyone Dies Solo
    Once And For All
    Perchance To Die

I think it's safe to say that we've given those monkeys with typewriters a run for their money in coming up with the perfect title for Bond 26. ;)

Return To Sender very close to another on my list from this thread:

Return To Service. I think I prefer the former, but the latter is "fun" for a new Bond's first or second film. It also would work for NTTD.

To double down on it, RTS opening along the lines of The Man with the Golden Gun with
007 brainwashed and trying to assassinate M. Then he's sent back at those evildoers.

Still that already treads into With a Mind to Kill territory.

Really going for the Devil ones? :)
How about When The Devil Drives (usually preceded by 'Needs must')? But really Faulks got the best one.

Oh, yes. It must've been deep in my subconscious as I didn't even realise the theme! :)

Since the Fleming titles (for the most part) have dried up, have there been any really great titles from any of the continuation novels that would be suitable for a movie?

Yeah, 'Heart' definitely feels like a Bondy word to me. It's a target, an emotional state, a suit in cards...

I'd offer The Weeping Heart but we had a weeping eye in CR already.

Jon Bon aside, I don't mind it! :)

I always feel like Cross My Heart or Cross Your Heart should work (it's half of a vaguely Bondy phrase).
    Another Bleeding Heart maybe.

Crossed Hearts is also good. I also have Heart Of The Matter and Heart, Service, And Gold on my lists.

    That's nice.
I was just reading about how Skyfall was called Nothing Is Forever for a little while.

Not bad but a touch derivative perhaps. And y'know, contradicts what we know about diamonds.

I liked that prospective title until you made the point about Diamonds.. hadn't though about that contradiction! Reminds me of one off my list again: Seven To Forever

The "seven" is of course 007 but otherwise completely arbitrary. To me it sounds like a dinner date that leads to love or death. "Meet at seven, and then forever."
