Only 1 more film before a reboot chaps,so lets hope they have learnt their lesson,as they have milked the 'emotional Bond' stuff for way too long.
The irony is that if MI:Fallout is as good as the advance word indicates, it should be up for Oscar consideration. Yes I know the reality of why it probably won’t be.
The oscars should finally give Stunts it's own category.

+3 it's really upsetting that we haven't had a no strings attached Bond romp in such a long time. It's almost like EON have lost the knack for these type of entertaining movies. Would explain why they take so long to put one out these days.

-1. As much as I am excited and thrilled about this new M:I movie, I don't think the Bond films of the last ten years have been drastically lacking in great stunts. Yes, we all know that SP could have been better on that front, but for my money the PTS of SF is one of the best action setpieces of the series. Let's not forget some terrific sequences like that (or the train fight in SP or the pulley fight in QOS) just because we're all so stoked about Mission: Impossible.
Just my opinion, of course. Feel free to tell me to get lost :)
Friday, so the earliest screenings will be Thursday night (not necessarily just midnight either, I remember when SP came out they had a few screenings in the evening before, but that might just be because Bond always does massive business in the UK, don't know if they do that for all the blockbusters).
edit: actually @Mendes just had a look and it seems to be out tomorrow. Nothing on tonight at any of the cinemas near me but it's probably worth checking yours if you wanted to see it tonight, there might be some advance evening/midnight screenings.
I'd include the Parkour chase at the beginning of CR.
I don't disagree, but with the recent MI movies I can name at least 5 great stunts per film and there's 1 or 2 in most recent Bonds that really stand out. I end up thinking more about why a sequence wasn't better.
Can't agree on SF's PTS being one of the best in the series. I find it uninspiring and that movie's action sequences as a whole to be lacking and unmemorable, save for the creativity of the tussle between Bond and Patrice in the skyscraper.
I would most definitely have included the chase at the beginning of CR, but that was twelve years ago (!!!) and I was specifically responding to a comment about the last ten, so I used QoS and onward as examples.
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree on SF. I think there's some terrific action in that film, particularly at the beginning and end. And that silhouette fight with Patrice is one for the record books, IMO.
As mentioned above, it's out at midnight!

I agree with you too. The MI: movies are fun but they are empty at their core which is, unfortunately, because Cruise is the lead. Give me any Bond film over any of the MI: films. More panache and less effort on the screen.
Honestly, as much as they favor new directors per installment (sans McQuarrie's return for Fallout), to this I say: why not? The man delivered with Rogue Nation and given that it sounds like Fallout is going to be one of the best, biggest action movies of all time, I'd be more than happy to see him return yet again.
I've been avoiding them too, though I did cave and watch that bathroom fight - simply breathtaking.
If I can help it i try to watch the first proper trailer only, though flicking through TV channels it's easy to inadvertently stumble on a trailer or teaser. Hopefully Fallout will match and better the last films box office, Tom doing crazy stunts is the big draw I think.
Which is where the difference lies. I’m not convinced EON are sat around discussing stunts, they’re looking for directors to tell stories. Whether that’s what certain Bond fans want is debatable, but that’s the situation. Bond and M:I aren’t competing as far as I can see, they’re on different courses. The best option is to embrace M:I and quit bitching about Bond.
After the sixties, to some degree, the Bond films have thrived on reinventing themselves by imitating the new trends in film. With that in mind, the success of movies like this one could help to push it away from those serious ambitions. And anyway, Spectre was certainly a step away from that mindset (though obviously not an absolute one).
