An observation from the board: Fallout as similar to Skyfall for a title.
So I realize there's nothing new under the sun and Bond doesn't have a patent on these action items. But still.
I also love these Mission Impossible films, I'm seeing Fallout tomorrow.
I'm curious about another bit of footage that might be missing, since others have said a few shots from trailers were removed. No spoilers please, yes or no works: is the bit with Ethan drawing his handgun in the street and firing at something still present? Looked like a day time shot outside of a club or something.
Also..
Is this
https://youtube.com/watch?v=bmUxvX2z5N0 song made specially for the movie? if so..it wasn't played during the end credits right after the movie ends and I really wanted to hear it :/
PS. @RichardTheBruce. “0:56 The loss of plutonion as the MacGuffin, similar to the list of agents. (Skyfall).” You mean similar to Ethan Hunt must assume command of a mission to keep a list of deep-cover CIA operatives from being sold by an IMF mole first used in the first MI 1996 movie?
I have just bought the soundtrack for Fallout the track Friction is not listed on there either. Not listened to the album yet it could be listed under another title possibly.
Edited: A track called Change of Plan incorperates the MI Theme, I am part way through the score it has a Hans Zimmer feel at times.
The score had some great moments ("Stairs & Rooftops" in particular is really good) but the Zimmer stylistic influence was all over the score. One of Balfe's "tension" themes was basically Gotham's Reckoning without the chanting ("The Exchange").
I like Balfe's version of the theme though.
It's quite different to the previous MI scores though I like it, listening to it now on the track Free Fall, there are a few moments the score reminds me of the Tron Legacy score bizzarely, I am quite impressed with what I am listening to. Roll on the weekend when I can watch the film.
Edited: I see what you mean regarding The Exchange, the track Steps ahead is excellent very much like what we had on the Classic TV show,
What I heard of Fallout so far it's better than the last two Bond scores IMO, though I am not a fan of Newman.

Interesting read thanks for posting, you certainly get a sense of the work put into the score. There are so many great subtle moments throughout the 26 tracks, I suspect I will listen to this album a few times over the weekend.
I am not 100% sure if I missed it and this bothers me :D
If they didn't use it....why? :?
Anyone have screen caps or video of the opening titles sequence?
Ooh, not sure how to explain it.
Basically it's almost entirely used with vids from the movie. It tells the story of the entire movie (like every M:I movie does) but this time it's different as they use way more footage than usual.
Not really sure how to explain it from what I remember..
I mean I liked the graphic and overall I'd say it was cool...but I think it used too much footage and basically tells the entire film..
IF(!) I remember correctly it's half screen of something from the movie, then the lighted fuse separating the vid from the movie with map of the city they are in or smth like that
This song is three years old, it was not written specially for this movie so don't expect to see it in the soundtrack.
Just came back from my viewing in IMAX. As much as I enjoyed it, I can agree with the CGI comment. With all the practical stunts in the film, the few moments that use CGI stand out like sore thumbs. None of it as far as I could tell was used to place actors in a shot, but it was most noticeable in shots like crumbling rock or falling debris as well as a certain helicopter shot.
Surprising you didn't think it had any big action pieces. Your opinion is at odds with most reviews! The marketing and trailers seem to sell it as big action. The helicopter chase looks big action. Some YT reviews claim it the best action film ever! Probably a bit over-the-top with sort of reaction.
I did as well, shame it was only fully used during the title sequence.
Their reaction is a bit OTT but they really liked it. I'm guessing Boldfinger's reaction will be in the minority.
It wasn't used in full at any point. Balfe used segments of it and essentially deconstructed and reconstructed his action cues around the theme, similar to the way Kraemer did. It wasn't used in full during Rogue Nation either - just the opening and closing credits. The last time we got a full blast of the theme during a film was the swinging into the window on the side of the Burj Khalifa in Ghost Protocol. Everything since has been hints and nods.
Quite right. Though I must admit to liking his approach to using the theme throughout in different ways. Other than certain annoying Zimmerisms, I like the score overall.
Haha, idk, coming in with a not so great review in a thread with all (possibly some hardcore) fans.....idk, I felt like I writing that haha
Thanks for the answer.
I asked that cause I haven't heard the song before and it totally had that M:I vibe in it :D
Nah, the action is there and it's cool.
I was sorta misunderstood with the comment.
I meant..it doesn't have something huge breath taking that will be remembered from the movie.
For example the 4th one had the Burj Khalifa scene...the 5th one had the opera scene. Hell even the first one had that one scene we still all remember 22 years later

Don't get me wrong there's tons of action, just like every M:I movie. Just look the previous one and that's what you'll get, one action scene leading to another one.
The problem I personally had was that not all of them landed as amazing sequences (instead being just fine I guess) and that there wasn't a big rememberable scene from this movie the way the previous had.
And let's not forget that insurance paid for almost all of those extra costs concerning Cruise's injury.
