I love the trailer and think the film is going to be phenomenal! From the first time I watched the trailer, though, I felt something was different about it. Maybe a bit "off," at least in terms of what I expect to see. And after about a dozen views, I finally figured it out. There isn't a single sound effect in it. We hear dialogue with Kittridge during the first 50 seconds, but we don't get anything other than music besides that. Not the sound of a punch, or glass breaking, or a car smashing, or helicopter blades whirring. This isn't a criticism, just an observation. Did anyone else notice this? I honestly can't recall a trailer ever doing that before (but obviously I could be wrong).

We spent a few pages discussing it when it leaked. Someone online described it as like watching the dailies from shooting; often just music accompanying images to get an "idea" of where the movie is at, or to see what's been shot. I think they are still early in post-production for 7, or still drawing the line at where 7 and 8 differ (with regard to cutting a trailer from footage for one big story).

Clearly an homage to QOS during the action scenes at Tosca 😉

The Mission Impossible trailer is really good. I think apart from the action scenes that are now better than Bond, it has better villains too. I think CR was the last Bond trailer and film that really had the energy of the recent Mission Impossible trailers and films. Hopefully, Amazon's wealth would speak for Bond 26 & Beyond visually and will return Bond back to the visually jaw-dropping days.

Were the Bond films ever that way ? I guess you could say that they were visually impressive in their time. The big moment which comes to mind was the parachute jump at the end of the PTS for TSWLM, and, of course, that was not for a sustained action set-piece during the course of the film.

I'm not complaining - it just was not and has not been the style of the Bond films. I'd say they were and have been more about style and cool than jaw-dropping action sequences. Of course there have been some, but I think the emphasis was different, and, as I say, more about style and cool.

Yeah, style and cool as well, but it had several Wow! moments too. Like very creative Wow! moments. But I know what you mean. I don't think Bond necessarily have to compete with Hunt, but we just need those incredible Bondian Wow! moments back, accompanied by the Bond theme.

Agreed. Younger audiences, and audiences in general, have had their expectations raised, it seems. I feel it myself. The MI films recently have been just darn exciting. I've enjoyed all the Bond films, too, and story and character arcs recently have been terrific. But I think it is time for the Bond pendulum to swing back to thrillers with nearly a one-and-done approach. Some arcs, but not as deep a psych study of Bond. It's just been done, and doing it again in the next several films would seem repetitive, and inappropriately disregard the effort, care and art of the Craig Bond films. So, not all the way to silly as in some of R Moore's films' moments, but cool, stylish, fun and exciting.

Virtually anything seen in film today can be compared to something seen in previous films .

This. The same could be said about NTTD or any other big budget action film these days (or in any genre, really). Seems a weird complaint and takeaway from what I felt was an exciting and fantastic looking action trailer but everyone has their own tastes, I guess. Can't please everybody.
But I am pleased, and as I wrote - excited. I just wish for something new or a completely new take on a certain action setpiece. For example, in 2018's 'Tomb Raider' there was a really intense bike chase through London. That was fresh. And in MI:6 Fallout we had the helicopter chase ending in a fistfight on the side of a mountain. Don't recall having seen that one before.

Most dangerous stunts done by real actors.

Tom was always going to make this list... more than once.

    Chan better dominate that list.

I hear Ford is going to do all his own walking in Indy 5.

Absolutely. I can't wait for Mangold's biopic on him. I've been wanting that for a very long time.

Thanks to inflation, Maverick and China, I’m pretty sure this one will be the first Cruise film to hit a billion.

Unless Top Gun will make it first. It’s possible.

So I'm like two weeks late, but I finally saw the trailer. I've got Venice in my mind since watching Vampire in Venice last year, so the foggy shots of the city in the trailer really appealed to me.

Is it weird though that my favorite shot is of Hunt revealing the key? I just love that style. Incidentally, it reminds me of Hunt doing magic tricks with the NOC list in the first movie.

I also got vibes of the first film, the bit of visual magic and trickery with the disc. It's a nice touch and I hope that and the return of Kittridge aren't the only comparisons to be made.

I have a feeling I know at least SOME of the dialogue for that scene:

Hunt You see, the key to an illusion...sometimes...is...the key.

For Cruise’s big birthday we seem to have been given our first glimpse at Part 2:

Ok that’s very impressive. Since GP or RN they seem like they’re doing a MR like Bond did.
Putting our hero in very high places for action sequences. The only difference being Cruise is crazy enough to do these stunts himself. And I have so much admiration for him, to do this to keep the audience entertained.

Awesome stunt! I can't wait! Also, I can only imagine what Lorne Balfe's score would sound like in this scene.

He's so strong to pick an airplane up over his head, and...um...wait, his feet. They're not touching the ground. Well, I guess he isn't as strong as I thought.

I was thinking there are extended controls and Mr. Cruise is flying the plane.

    Plus he built it.

I get that McQuarrie is buddies with Cruise but did he have to hang off a plane to demonstrate it?!
