    A perfect selling point for a poster. I could see that shot and that stunt 100 more times and it's still gonna make my jaw drop in theaters.

    Yes and compare that to the NTTD poster. Yikes! Bond standing against some wall (in Cuba I guess). Remember the Bond posters of old? Some of the absolute best posters in cinema history. Bond was really leading the pack. Now Bond has fallen short in pretty much every category. I recall thinking that the 90s Bond posters were lacking when compared to what came before in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. But looking at the 90s posters now they are works of art compared to what we got with the Craig posters. The only half way decent one was the CR poster. And even that’s too minimalist for my tastes.

    I agree with your opinions. The fans have made better posters than EON has in the last years on average!

    It is pretty disappointing at just how awful the posters have been in the Bond universe these past several installments. They're about as generic and lifeless as they get.

    As has been mentioned, a lot of the fan posters I've seen have been infinitely better.

    Wouldn’t it have been more fun if Cruise didn’t spoil this stunt all over marketing? By the time I see the film it’ll no longer seem that impressive. Even Bond has been guilty of that in the past.

    It's the inherent issue with marketing these days, especially if you're playing up the best parts of the film months in advance.

    I remember being disappointed that NTTD didn't really have a standout stunt that wasn't already showcased ad infinitum before release, especially all the stuff during the PTS.

    I really wish I had the willpower to stop watching any and all trailers.

    I stopped watching trailers online for the most part. However, I still go to theaters so I’m bound to run into the same trailer over and over. When I saw the stunt featurette played before AVATAR 2 in IMAX I thought to myself “why are they spoiling this???” It could have been something later showcased on the special features disc or YouTube.

    But I also am not a fan of how these films gradually shifted towards being more of a stunt showcase for Tom Cruise’s ego. I guess that started with GHOST PROTOCOL. As the years go by my appreciation for the first film grows more and more. But Cruise knows where the money is at, and low key spy thrillers don’t make a billion dollars.

    To be fair, they massively hyped the HALO stunt sequence from Fallout too and it ended up being the "least good" action beat of that film. If they pull that off a second time, then good for them.

    At that time I kind of fell out of watching movies in general, so I didn’t even know that was supposed to be the signature stunt when I saw it.

    I haven’t seen FALLOUT since theaters. I was gonna revisit it, but when I found out it had shifting aspect ratio that turned me off. I absolutely detest that gimmick. If there’s a version out there where it’s 2.39:1 all throughout then I’d gladly watch it.

    When it comes to stunts and their marketing, the Airbus in Rogue Nation was the worst offender. It was THE signature stunt of the film, and it was right there at the beginning.

    It bugged me when the Blu-Ray had it, and then a friend had a DVD of the film which he suggested watching on a Friday night with beers and pizza. The aspect ratio change was still there, which was baffling to me.

    It makes sense when watching in IMAX (or whatever big screen equivalent people have) but that's about it.

    Perhaps they think it's better to focus on one of the many set pieces in the film, which in turn takes the focus off of uncovering plot details and potentially uncovering massive spoilers?

    I don’t think masters are calibrated for DVDs anymore. Many 4K masters are now simply downrezzed. Zack Snyder’s JUSTICE LEAGUE DVD for example is 16:9 with black bars on the sides, rather than the standard 4:3 DVD format.
