Campbell directing Brosnan while seated in the tank and that final shot of Brosnan with Natalya and Xenia are both great. I bought some photos from that photo shoot (always dug the set used for that, wonky scale and all) ages and ages ago.

There's no sign that Sean Bean in the DB5 photo is a villain. Good writing and acting from all sides.

The trailers still made sure to spoil that twist before audiences had a chance to enjoy it back in 1995. I'm glad I was young enough to have it be a major surprise when I first saw it.

I have a question, existing any behind the scenes pictures (Goldeneye) with Cubby Broccoli ?

Sadly, I couldn't find any of Cubby behind the scenes on GoldenEye.

I'm always astonished by the size, scale and detail of Derek Meddings work. The man really was a genius. I never even realised any of the train shots were miniatures.

I think that, beyond the casting of Pierce, he wasn't really involved.

Yes, Cubby may have been ill at the time and he sadly died the following year in June 1996. It was the first Bond film without a producer credit for Cubby Broccoli, his stepson and daughter having taken over the reins. He was a consultant producer instead.

I bet sliding down the base of the satellite dish area was a blast. I always keep an eye out for the mat under Brosnan's back during that scene in the film.

There's some quite interesting Syd Cain design sketches in the new Propstore sale; I think I remember hearing about this before they started shooting. I think Bond and Natalya's escape from the train would have involved jumping off this bridge.

  • Didn’t Desmond say that Pierce was his favorite Bond? Desmond used to get irritated a bit by Roger always playing pranks on him and changing his lines on him to confuse him. I can see how something like this might irk someone if done on a regular basis. I think it was Rog who said that Desmond would often show up on the set terrified when picking up his script, unsure whether Rog had monkeyed with it or not.

There's somebody missing in all of these. I'm afraid I'll have to rectify the situation.

Ah yes, Billy J. Mitchell, good call.
Curiously GoldenEye is the second film he was in where his character died during sexual intercourse.

I'm amazed. I thought they did that for real.

Is that some kind of green support arm that’s coming out of the wall and going into Sean Bean’s back, presumably to hold him vertically upside down? Whoah, I hope he didn’t have to hang like that upside down for too long! Blood rushing to your head like that - can’t be good.

Yeah I was curious about the logistics myself too, It almost looks like Bean is supported by his back and Brosnan's held up as he "lays down" and props himself up with his foot. Trippy.
