Okay lets trade it up and dive into some music!

Over the course of the film series there have been some dynamite songs. Few are considered rock but two stand outs fall into the rock category!

In 1973 a new Bond on the scene and the producers tapped Sir Paul McCartney to sign the title song. Live and Let Die became an anthem and was played at every Paul McCartney concert. It hit number 2 on the charts and is still played today on rock stations.

In 2006 a new Bond is on the scene the producers tapped Chris Cornell to sing the title song for Casino Royale. Not finding that to be worthy of a song title Chris instead belts out You Know My Name. While not a hit on the charts, it is a song that resonates with Bond fans. Chris passes away at a very young age, perhaps effecting the longevity of the song and it's popularity.

    My question to you is

Would you rather listen to Sir Paul sing Live and Let Die OR Chris sing "You know My Name?

I deplore Chris Cornell's early death, but then I must admit I had never even heard of him (nor his band, Soundgarden) before he did YKMN. And while I like that Bond theme, nobody and nothing beats Paul McCartney for me.

I was present at Macca's concert at the Hamburg Volkspark Stadium in 2003 or 2004, on the European leg of his "Back to the World" tour, and he did also perform Live and Let Die and it was fantastic. Not as fantastic or at least as emotional, I must admit, as 26,000 or so people in the audience belting out the refrain to Hey Jude, but that is self-explanatory, I guess. So, it's definitely Macca for me, considering we can't revive Chris by voting for the alternative anyway.

Like most boomers, I'm a big Beatles fan. And I love Mac's LALD. But I like YNMN better because it's modern, hard driving, and has lyrics that are actually about Bond.

Have to go with LALD, as sung by McCartney -- or B.J. Arnau, who, for just one week in late June 1973 was depicted in trade advertisements as 'the only one who sings it and appears in the new James Bond thriller of the same name'.

YKMN is a great addition though, popping up in the background a fair bit throughout the film.

    Both great Bond themes.

In part considering the advantage of listening to LALD for the previous 33 years before YNMN came along...

I'll go with Chris Cornell's track. Not least since it came at a time I was taking on a career change. Inspirational in that regard.

Even though I’m one of the world’s biggest Macca fans and I’ve seen him do LALD live four times, this is still a tough choice. I really love both songs and both serve to kick off their respective films on a high note.

Binder’s titles do a really nice job of matching the beat of Paul and Linda’s reggae-esque theme.

I still get chills as Craig walks into view at the end. A great start for a new Bond.

    A toss-up. As a song, I like LALD just a tad more.

    * How big a Macca fan? Well, I’ve been known to defend the merits of 1986’s Press to Play LP with co-workers.

Thanks for posting both. Both are such great songs. The CR intro is so good. Love Vesper's face in the queen of spades. Does that tell it all, or what? And the final focus on Craig's face. Yes, we do know that name.

I love both dearly, and I've been fortunate enough to see Sir Paul live he did a fantastic rendition of LALD, but I've got to go for You Know My Name. It's my favourite Bond song and I love Cornell's vocals, it's just pure Bond to me

I will go for YKMN. I love both songs, but I cam barely stand Macca.

I love YKMN (my 9th favorite Bond song) and was pretty devastated when CC died.
But Macca’s LALD (my #2) is a once in a generation masterpiece that I will always regret never to have seen performed live.

I was blessed to see it twice live and it was every bit as epic as you can imagine. Pyro, lighting effects and Sir Paul. Quite the highlight of the concert.

Even as a BIG Beatles fan I would still have to go with YKMN as a more coherent Bond theme.

Very tough choice they are two of my favorite Bond title tracks, LALD wins just as it is also from my favorite none John Barry Bond score.

The title track to LALD is brilliantly incorporated into the soundtrack.

I always got the feeling that the "action cue" heard in the theme song was written by George Martin and inserted into the theme song as opposed to being the other way around. This is because some of the early, early cover versions of the theme do not include the "action cue".

Listening to the track isolated, I would choose LALD, as it kind of takes you on a journey, but if paired with the title sequence, definitely YKMN. The latter has a pretty strong hype factor when watching with the graphics - the same hype I get when viewing a Bond film for the first time.

You Know My Name. It's the only Bond song that helped a Bond actor to be universally accepted, after so much doubt.

I love both songs, but the chills running down my back when I first came to see CR win this experience for me. The song will always remind me of that. An experience that was never repeated or preceded in that way. The film had a great intro with the black and white, and YKNM just exploded into that in a rough Bondian manner that really set me up for the film.

Great stuff and certainly a hard choice to me. The sentimentalist in me picks LALD probably because I got to see it live and really came away appreciating the song on a different level.

However the You Know My Name combined with the opening titles really does move me and gets me excited about the film to come.

    Overall LALD edges out barely!

Okay on to another one. Sometimes the villains plot has an air of being for the benefit of humanity. Even though millions will need to die for it to happen. I got to thinking about 2 villains that wanted a new life in a new environment.

Lets say you were looking through the classifieds and saw the following:

WANTED passionate ocean lovers. Would you like to create a city under the sea. A place where man lives in the depths of the ocean and leaves the earth behind. You must be able to relocate to our main headquarters in Sardinia. A working knowledge of submarines and nuclear bombs an asset. Come work for Stromberg Laboratories today.

    OR

WANTED passionate space explorers. Would you like to make a giant leap for mankind? come work for Drax Industries. We want to take man to space and create a whole new world in space. You will live in a space station and help to re-populate the earth in a new image. A working knowledge of orchids and gravity would be an asset. Must be able to relocate to either California, Italy, or Brazil.

I guess what I am asking is

Would you rather work for Stromberg Laboratories OR Drax Industries?

On one side, I'd go with Drax Industries since i would get to go to space and get the girls.
On the other side, either way, i'd end up dying.

I would work at Drax's factory in Cali. With my boss dead, I might end up out of a job, but hey, at least I wouldn't get blown up in space or drown.

Drax Industries. Drax seems to have a far safer hideout location for himself and his minions while waiting for human life on earth to be destroyed. I figure Stromberg and his minions would've died from the nuclear fallout whilst Drax & co. would just need to wait until the orchid gas had dissipated. It would also be a lot easier to rebuild on a planet where animal and plant life were not harmed as a result.

I'd vote for Drax Industries in that location as well. The Aztec level in the GE game states that even after his death, the company was still illegally producing shuttles.

Sorry people, deciding whether to join one fictitious genocidal operation in favour of the other takes the fun out of this for me. So I pass, and decide that knowing what I know from the movies, I wouldn't join either. Even with a twist, I don't consider this funny, actually. Call me a spoil-sport.

To paraphase Mr White @j_w_pepper "Would you rather isn't for everyone". No worries not every scenario is going to work for everyone.

I have been looking at the various ones we have done. The popular ones so far have been when pairing a Bond off with another, the future of the franchise has also developed healthy dialogue.

I try my best to offer different ones for different comments and discussion. They aren't all gems! LOL!

Hope you will join us for a future one!

I tend to be claustrophobic, don't like the idea of being shut in either to be honest, bit I'd go for Stromberg because at least I can swim.
