I’ll take the submersible car. It can go underwater!
What do I need an invisible car for?
    Not exactly safe or practical.

Safety-wise I'm imagining folks pulling into my "empty" parking space and me dodging cars on the highway from all sides because they can't see me.

I'll take the submersible and stay at reasonable depths.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned how dangerous and impractical an invisible car would be.

I'd go for the submersible car for the same reason.

I'm with @Ludovico on that: an invisible car may sound very cool, but let's not forget the obvious dangers. Still, it could have its advantages. And since I have zero use for a submersible model, I'd still choose the invisible car, if only to park it somewhere and enjoy the faces of people bumping into it.

    Invisible cars are dangerous? :))

Yeah, right. And Grizzly Adams had a beard.

Both have bad uses though, invisible cars for maybe bumping into parking lots and impractical use (yes, it can lead to accidents because, yes, it's invisible, especially when in rush hour in roads), so yes, not good and would be more useless, unless it's for the intention of keeping your car away from thieves or criminals, but no, they would've still likely to bump into the car and steal it :))

And the submersible car for water pollution and the poisoning of fishes, imagine releasing carbon gases into the sea?! Man, if submersible cars would be in real life circulation, I would never ever swim into the sea (knowing how contaminated and polluted it is), and I know it would trigger Greta Thunberg ;)

I wonder when will Bond have a flying car (similar to Little Nellie but in form of a car), then that would be my choice!

Bond had a flying DB5 in episode 1 of James Bond Jr. Doors folded out to become wings, propeller in the grille.

What you can't see can't hurt you.

And the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.

I vaguely remember that Chris Corbold pitched that idea for the opening of NTTD.

I've just reread The Invisible Man and it reminded me how invisibility is not so practical in even the best circumstances. Yes it has advantages, but so many drawbacks. An invisible car would be extremely dangerous, for reasons stated above.

It's been a while since I've checked into this thread, but submersible for sure! Why pay for a cross-Channel ferry?

Although if I could have any car from the Bond franchise, it would be the flying Matador from TMWTGG.

Brilliant stuff folks. Never thought about the dangers of an invisible car. Often thought of the fun of a car simply disappearing from view and the onlookers scanning and staring in disbelief. I think it has potential.

    On to another decision!

Would you rather see see the new Bond have a Scottish housekeeper named May OR an assistant named Loelia Ponsoby?

    Neither.

May would just seem weird in 2023. Who has a live-in housekeeper anymore? Who wants to see Bond's flat? Get on with the mission, James.

Ponsonby would seem weird because everyone would be waiting for Moneypenny to show up, surmising that Ponsonby would either die or betray Bond/MI6.

Some of the Fleming characters were rightly left behind by Eon.

May is so likeable in the novels that I would be very interested to see her on screen.
Ponsoby could also be great but May would be a more different from what we got so far and would therefore be more interesting.

    @echo
I thought about that, too. Would it be appropriate to have a character like May in 2023? Don't know...with a good script, a lot is possible.

I wouldn't be as categorical, but I pretty much agree. I think if either would be used, they would need to be heavily modified. May is not merely outdated, she's anachronistic. Maybe make her a cleaning lady? But that's a big maybe. Loelia Ponsonby is too similar to Moneypenny to bring anything new. I can't see her working, not as a regular character anyway.

Okay right now, with a baby of almost 9 months in the house? Give me that housekeeper, please. ;-)

Both would have to be adapted slightly. Someone on Bond's salary, decent as it is, probably wouldn't have a housekeeper nowadays in London. If May were included and their relationship were similar to the novels, she'd likely be Bond's landlady or something, similar to how Sherlock adapted Mrs. Hudson.

Loelia wouldn't be a secretary but probably an assistant to the 00's or something. Actually I'm ok with that. She'd have more of a practical function within the story, and I've always felt her and Bond's relationship in the novels was very humanising. She's also a very different character to the traditional Moneypenny. She doesn't flirt with Bond for instance (it's a line Bond seems to know not to cross, although he teases her from time to time, which makes it an usual female relationship for him), and she seems to genuinely care about his wellbeing as well as that of the other 00's, which is a great idea to expand upon (one gets the sense that Maxwell's Moneypenny maintains a bit of a distance from Bond beyond flirting). If anything I'd argue the cinematic Moneypenny from Moore's tenure onwards became more and more like Loelia (in Craig's era especially) with that more platonic relationship.

They'd probably have to forgo Moneypenny if Loelia were included but I'm actually ok with this too. I think the old trope of Bond briefly flirting with Moneypenny before going into M's office is hit or miss in the films anyway, and only really works nowadays when this formula is flipped on its head in some way. If Loeila were included at the beginning of a new actor's tenure you could set up a very interesting dynamic between these characters. I've personally always hoped for a version of Loleia onscreen.

Great stuff! I can see the character of Loelia working better for the screen, it would give a break to the Moneypenny character and maybe show a different side of the office? I would rather we see the office Bond over the home and domesticated bachelor!

    Okay on to another one!

Would you rather the next Bond be a Hollywood star (Cavill, Elba for example) OR a relative unknown (like Connery and Craig some acting but not widely known.)?
We could have gone with Elba for SP when that time was right, which was sadly ten years ago. I think an unknown has to do it but they should be an actor in the business.

Excellent. Pity he's already 40 and EON aren't looking to go above that.

It's very difficult nowadays to remain an unknown actor, especially once you're being considered for Bond. But I hope we'll get relatively unknown or little known veteran. Somebody who did a lot of stage work, perhaps? With smaller roles in bigger projects (tv and cinema) where they somehow shine.

I think this would be a great opportunity for both of them. A good way to differentiate from Craig would be getting different characters who haven’t adapted from the books. Particularly May. She could have worked as Kincade, which she could partially still be. Same with Charmian Bond, she could be used.

I’d like someone in between. Not a superstar, but someone with acting experience.

@MaxCasino there are a lot of veteran actors who are still unknown by the general public. It's when they'll be mentioned as potential Bonds that they will get better known.
