What do you consider the most dire moment in a Bond film?

There's a difference between the most dire moment in the Bond films and the most dire moment for Bond fans.

I'm sure the 6 billion or so non-Bond fans given a clip of Bond para- surfing and Bond being tortured by Blofeld and being told they were step brothers, would possibly pick the para-surfing.

And even a few fans (me for example) would follow suit.

But then again, the OP title does say 'what do you consider...' so maybe I'm barking up the wrong tree all together, dragging everyone in the world into this.
    ;)

The irony is that at the rate we're going, soon the 'non-Bond fans' are more likely to one day select Pussy's unwilling romp in the hay as the most 'dire' moment, at least if recent reports are to be believed.

Didn't they think of calling her Kitty
Galore in the early stages. Until
    Honor Blackman was photographed
With Prince Philip , and the headline in
The paper called her Pussu Galore.

Ha! That's a cracker (disclaimer: to clarify, I'm using the informal English meaning here & not the American pejorative one, in case it is misunderstood and causes offense).

Dolly & Jaws meeting. It's like something out of a 'Carry On' Film!

    Film: Carry On Moonraker

Jaws sits amidst the rubble of the cable car. He finds a pear in his pocket and makes to eat it.
    Dolly approaches

Dolly: Ooh I say, what a lovely looking pear.
Jaws: Hehe, you took the words right out of my mouth.

Camera zooms in on Dolly's cleavage.

    Dolly: Ooooo, saucy!

She giggles and walks away, swinging her rear end.

    Jaws: Fwwooooooar!

Ha ha - if they had done that it might not have been such a bad film (give raucous Sid James laugh)

I recognise the hatred for SP, but as the question is termed, ‘moment’, it’s the CGI tsunami surfing for me and it’s not even close. If the question was ‘direst concept’, then fill your boots with SP.

Impossible to really argue with that.

For me what's worse it the Moneypenny virtual reality scene - god-damned-awful. Super cringeworthy. Really hate that scene.

Yeah but by that stage the damage is done. At that point the double take pigeon could rock up driving the Bondola hovercraft with Bibi and Oberhauser in the passenger seats with the slide whistle playing on a loop and I wouldn't give a toss.

Given that even @Christartos couldn't come up with an idea as bad as making Blofeld Bond's stepbrother let's hope so.

    That's the sad truth.

It's even sadder, however, that some "fans" who baptized themselves as such badmouth Fleming and Bond to no end, by calling them both misogynist racist haters and whatever (I've encountered someone like that on FB, whose brain is beyond repair, I may add), yet he calls himself a "Bond fan". Go figure.

Add to that the worst ever Bond girl, the worst theme song and a decent plot that is set up in the PTS but is quickly dropped, what does it all amount to? Die Another Day, one 2 hour dire moment. Ptewy! I spit on this movie.

That is indeed a pretty offensive rap sheet that puts the double take pigeon and even brothergate in perspective.

    "the worst ever Bond girl"?
Not in a world featuring Sedoux and the girl that sits next to Piercein the Aston Martin at the beginning of GE.

Nothing will ever put brothergate into perspective! At least not until James Bond becomes part of Marvels Avengers.

I find nothing wrong with Madeline in SP. Looks killer in that dress and I like her all right. Not every Craig Bond girl can be Severine or Vesper. The woman with Bond at the beginning of GE in the Aston never bothered me really. Guess I'm always too bust paying attention to Onatopp instead. In my book Jinx is easily the worst and probably always will be.

As a main Bond girl in the films for me its either Jinx or Melina...Melina just didn't float my boat as a Bond girl.
Actually add Goodnight to that list.

Of those three, the worst one is the video game suit. The Bat Credit Card can't compare with the actual Bat Credit Card, and the surfing is an okay concept, and it does show Bond being resourceful which I always appreciate.

@Thunderball knows what’s up. DAD has 90% of the series’ most dire sequences.

Indeed. The worst, for me, was the last scene with Moneypenny. An outrage, I tell you !

Bad, yes. But I still sighed in relief when I saw it didn’t really happen.

SP at least has some good stuff in there before it strikes the brothergate shaped iceberg. DAD just carries on full steam ahead smashing into iceberg after poorly rendered CGI iceberg without anyone caring how much water it is taking on until it sinks with all hands.

They both end up at the bottom of the Atlantic but, to quote Partridge himself, at least SP had 'thousands of miles of very pleasureable cruising before it hit the iceberg.' DAD is on its way to Davy Jones locker the moment it leaves Southampton harbour.

Jinx better than Madeline? Even though I'm probably guilty of it myself, sometimes the SP hate on here is ridiculous. It's a crushing disappointment of a film given what we were sold in the trailer but it's not a DAD level car crash.

The bird in GE is a bit horsey and Jinx wins in shagability stakes but she's not anywhere near as annoying.
