I do like that poster
It really is a nice…well, it can be called a teaser poster, can't it? I wonder if the illustrated Angels of Death (rather than photographed ones) was a stylistic choice, or a practical choice – depending on how far into production they were at the time.
Good point @Dragonpol, and one I didn't think of before you mentioned it. I guess there's a possibility that they were allowed to show more graphic imagery in Japan at the time, than in (some) Western countries. There's no blood shown though, so that might be why they went ahead with that image.
Yes, that is indeed Lazenby. I've seen that pose before in other adverts for that brand of beer. I think the picture of him in the chair was bigger on the ones that I saw.
P.S. The Air-India advert is very interesting to me as I'm currently researching for an upcoming article on the literary and film Bond and India. I've seen similar adverts for travelling to India in the pages of old 1960s issues of Encounter magazine I've been collecting of late. That is an interesting find for me and I thank you for bringing it to my attention, @Torgeirtrap! :)
I love the Kronenbourg (brand of beer)
My wife
Buy the Kronenbourg per stack of 6
Crazy how I love my wife.
I just do the translation ogf the last one :)
I take it it's this one you're thinking of? :-)
Had completely forgot about that ad until you mentioned it.
Happy to be of help, @Dragonpol – even though it was completely by accident!
Hah, that's funny!
Yes, that's the one I was thinking of with Lazenby. Interestingly I see that the ads use two different pictures of Lazenby in similar poses. I take it that these ads appeared before he became Bond, much like the Fry's chocolate ads he used to appear in.
Thank you again for posting the Air-India ad! :)
The site I found this latest beer advertisement on dates the ad to 1968, so that would be very close to when he got the Bond gig. I even found a third one (see below).
You're welcome!

Some more stuff found on Flickr:
…and a couple of ads from Ebay:
Look how happy George is!
I'm asking because the three were released on 5 August. Tabling that for the On This Day thread.
Yes, the first one is rather…unique… The second one is quite cool though.
I don't know if it's (West) German or not. Is there any way to tell?
Absent that, West Germany generally used German for the titles. So I can confirm it's a match through the poster.
Liebesgrube aus Moskau
Goldfinger
Feuerball
Man lebt nur zweimal
Im Geheimdienst Ihrer Majestat
Diamantenfieber
Leben und sterben lassen
Der Mann mit dem goldenen Colt
Der Spion, der mich liebte
Moonraker – Streng geheim
In todlicher Mission
Haha, sorry! Took it as a question directed at me.
Seems like West Germany did the same as they did over here for the films up until the 90's, with translated titles.
Yes, it is.
A photo from Lazenby’s audition.
The other guys look like henchmen!
There's more on the OHMSS Bond role contenders and casting here at this MI6 HQ article:
https://www.mi6-hq.com/sections/articles/history_ohmss_auditions.php3
This last one isn't particularly unique or anything (we've all seen this TSWLM artwork), but the tagline is great! Translated from Danish:
"Blændende, barske Bond er bedst" = "Dazzling, rugged Bond is (the) best"
I believe that guy's name is Anthony Rogers. I agree. He looks pretty tough. The guy smack in the middle (on George's right) is Robert Campbell. He looks alright as well, to me.
Hans De Vries on top left looks too young, IMO. John Richardson bottom left reminds me of Jack Nicholson in FIVE EASY PIECES in that shot.
I imagine all four of these guys had more acting experience than George. Richardson was certainly in some movies, SHE for instance. As much as I love George, if I had been casting I might have leaned more towards Richardson based on his previous work. Just get rid of that Jack Nicholson haircut.
And there's some really great looking posters to be found here (PDF catalogue):
I think they all look naff - George is the obvious choice from that photo.
OHHH!!!!! Any photos of Akiko Wakabayashi are gratefully received any day of the week!! That would look superb in my parrot cage!!! 😍🤩
Here's two more (but you meant Mie Hama, right?) ;-)
Looks like 007collector.com has a lot of interesting posters/lobby cards etc.
I hadn't either. They must have had quite a bit of fun on set!
